Five star is subjective today Five stars because it tasted fantastic(not a fan of fried sea food at all) and the price was ridiculously low. It’s a very humble environment(inside a gas station) but it felt safe and very hospitable. We had a catfish sandwich and six inch shrimp po boy(it was huge). It tasted fresh and very flavorful Happy happy camper.

Number 1, its in Meridian, MS. Number 2, its in a gas station. Number 3, it is more or less a dive. Nonetheless, it was fantastic. Their oyster poboy will embarass any overpriced, so called real seafood restaurant in size, taste, and price. This is a no joke, real talk, good seafood stop.

Easily the best seafood I have ever had in a gas station. Great selection, great prices, and amazing taste. If this restaurant was in the heart of New Orleans, it would be one of the top rated. I recommend the fried shrimp, fried oysters, and fried rice. The boiled crawfish look amazing and cost less than $ 3/lb. I will be back even though I live two states away.

Okay. I wrote a previous review for crawfish — and had to reconsider. The best crawfish I’ve ever had was from this little gas station. It was under $ 4 a pound, and I could easily suck the tasty tails out of the huge crawfish. Their po boys made me understand why po boys are delicuous. Of my trip to New Orleans, the most memorable restauration was found in this gas station.

Talk about a secret local gem. Was traveling through on the way home to TN from New Orleans and saw the good Unilocal reviews for this place! Everyone is not lying! My boyfriend and I enjoyed a GREAT fresh seafood lunch and got covered in Boiled Crawfish juices. His shrimp and oysters were very tasty as well. Cheap, fresh, flavorful– doesn’t get much better than that!

I travel frequently for business, and I planned on staying overnight in Meridian. I hadn’t been to Meridian for awhile so I checked Unilocal for up to date restaurant reviews. After a long day in the car, I chose take out from Seafood Express since I was staying at the nearby Hampton Inn. Yes, it is a kitchen inside a gas station convenience store. The selections were very impressive and many Meridians were waiting for their orders to be filled. They featured basically fried seafood as well as chicken. The prices are very affordable and the service was acceptable, though not overly friendly. I ordered an 8 inch oyster po boy and a large seafood gumbo. The food was well prepared and I got my moneys worth. I wish the beautiful oysters on the po boy weren’t so overly crispy. There were plenty of them but I prefer them with the juices not fried out of existence. The gumbo was pretty good. It contained fish and a few small shrimp. I would like to try their fried chicken. They brought out 3 fresh batches while I was waiting and it looked exceptional. I would like to give Seafood Express 3 ½ stars but there is no way to do that.

We got 2lbs crawfish, one shrimp po’boys, & one half oyster, half shrimp po’boys & it was seriously so amazing! It’s the only good food we’ve found in Meridian so far. Definitely going at least one a week.

Yep, just like all the other reviewers said… in a gas station. Kinda dirty, real divey and… really good!

Here’s the deal: so if you can get past the fact that the place is in a gas station and there’s probably going to be a few people looking jobless hanging out front you’re in for some really good seafood. The catfish Po boy I ate was up to par with any five-star seafood restaurant. You can’t see what’s going on in the kitchen and but everything coming out of it tastes and looks very fresh. I ain’t scared, I will be back next time I’m in Meridian.

Gas Station Food Food is pretty good, This is a Gas station with Bars all over, really dirty looking inside, Staffs seem very rude and unplesant, Service Sucks ! They messed up my order, was asked if I ordered correctly along with dirty look on her face, I spent $ 30 and specified my oder, how about«I am sorry we’ll fix it»? , this place doesn’t care about customers or service … food is decent

I usually do not comment, but this place is a very pleasant surprise. We usually call in an order and without fail, when we arrive the food is ready. We moved from a larger place and have been somewhat dismayed at the overall lack of dining options and even more saddened by just how bad the service is at most restaurants in Meridian. This place has yet to let me down. Oh yeah, believe it or not this place is in a gas station.

First time in Meridian, MS and after eating At Seafood Express, it will not be my last. This is a regular gas station with a lil restaurant inside. When I drove up I knew it was going to be good because you can see the line inside from the parking lot. When I walked in it was like heaven. Jesus told me to commit gluttony lol and that’s what I did. All the food was good and I know that because I tried it. I had the fried chicken(GOOD) fried fish(VERYGOOD) fried salt water jumbo shrimp(GREAT) boil crawfish(GREAT) shrimp po-boy(GOOD) FYI the po-boy is not made with the jumbo shrimp but it was still good. LoL I even asked the lady for 1 fried oysters and it was(GOOD). Most of the sides was just ok not bad but just ok. The two ladies working was very friendly and the atmosphere gave me some of the BESTPEOPLE watching I have had in a long time.

Meridian is not exactly a great town for dining out. It’s a sea of uninspiring national chains. However, if you’re willing to do a little exploring you can get a excellent po boy sandwich. Yes, it’s in a gas station. Yes, it’s not immediately inspiring when you walk in the door. However, if you persevere this place will reward you with some very impressive sandwiches(fried shrimp, fried clams, catfish, soft shell crab). There is also fried chicken(which I have not tried) and a nice array of sides. The prices are great and the portions are massive. You could easily make the full size sandwich into two meals. Fair warning, weekday nights after 5:30 this place can get extremely busy. It’s worth the wait.

I’m not sure if the same person runs the one on 39 and 8th street, but for some reason, the one on highway 39n takes the cake. Pretty much everything here taste amazing. Best shrimp po boy ever. Don’t let some Louisiana biased person with a million dollar Yeti cooler in their truck say theirs is better just because you’re «supposed» to say the ones in Louisiana taste better. The po boy King lives in Meridian.

Was confused at first since it doubles as a gas station /convenience store but the food was awesome. Soft shell crab sandwich was great. Never had a fully fried crab, pincers and all but it was surprisingly good.

Great half shrimp, half oyster po’boy. Quick, competent service. The attendant pulled out the biggest chicken strips for my kids. Four of us over-fed for $ 15.

Best po boy I think I’ve ever had. Got the shrimp po boy 6in, which is plenty big. Shrimp were spilling out and the fixings were perfect for this sandwich! I also got the fried okra, and this is some of the best. Extremely fresh, and very tasty batter. I currently live in Meridian, and am sad I’ve only just tried it now(moving soon). It’s not really a sketchy area, as another reviewer states, but there are bars on the windows. During a nice spring day, it’s not bad to sit inside and eat, but just depends on what you’re looking for(it is a gas station). The crawfish there are also excellent. You can get them live or seasoned and cooked. A huge bagful! If you’ve never had crawfish, try them here. This is the second amazing gas station eats I’ve had in this town, and I’m wondering if it’s par for the course in the south.(The other is Pappy’s BBQ at the Shell station farther north on 39). Definitely worth a stop whether you live here or driving through!
