The Island Salon & Spa

This is my first review however I simply have to share my positive experience with Amy at Island Salon! I am closing in on age 60 and extremely careful about sun exposure. However the lack of color especially during our 4 weeks of summer finally got to me and I scheduled an appointment for a spray tan. I was nervous, unsure of what to do and Amy completely set my mind at ease. The tan is a beautiful natural glow and I couldn’t be happier. I will definitely see Amy again! So happy with the results!

I had to book a last minute appt for a spray tan and Norma was able to squeeze me in, even though it was late in the day and VERY last minute. I didn’t quite know what to expect because this was my first spray tan, but I got much more than I bargained for — I look like I got back from a tropical vacation!!!
I would highly recommend the Island Salon and Spa, and will be back soon!

Hooray for Amy at Island Spa! She does THE best spray tans of anywhere I’ve tried and believe me, living in grey Seattle I’ve tried several. People think I’ve been on vacation somewhere sunny! I love hearing“you’re so tan, where have you been?” She really takes the time to make it look as natural as she can with contouring and shading. Be prepared though you first timers– the bronzer gets pretty intense until you shower (best to wait overnight if you can.) so make an appointment with Amy and look and feel like you’ve been on holiday!

I got a brazilian blowout done at the Island Salon and in my long career of messing with my hair in every way possible (from unfortunate decision to get a perm in third grade to the deep conditioning I’ve formerly relied on to tame my frizz) I can honestly say I’ve never been so thrilled with a salon visit.
If you don’t read a lot of US weekly you might not have heard of the brazilian blowout. It’s basically a formula that is basted onto your hair, dried, and then flat-​ironed at high heat. They wash out the formula and blow dry. The end result is perfectly straight, shiny, zero-​frizz hair. I have wavy hair, naturally prone to frizz, and made worse by years of highlighting. Normally it takes me an hour + of blow drying and flat ironing to get my hair to behave but after getting the brazilian blowout it dries completely straight and smooth. GLORY GLORY HALLELUJAH.
Kudos to Island Salon for being an early adapter to what is sure to become a salon staple! They are clearly on the ball and their staff couldn’t be nicer.
