Point Blank Range & Gun Shop

Great range that is very well run and maintained. Bought a little .22 plinker while I was there the first time and found the staff really helpful, nice, and professional. I will be making the drive out more often.

First off after reading the negative reviews, I came to the conclusion that they must be from those new to shooting, shooting at indoor ranges and/​or firearms in general.
My INDOOR shooting experience includes many different ranges in Cleveland and Cincinnati, as well as, Virginia and North Carolina. Point Blank isn’t the best range I have ever been to, but in North East Ohio it is by far the best.
The requirements I have for shooting indoors include: a clean range; having a range safety officer (so many places in the allow any asshole with a gun to step on a range and handle it like a fool); at LEAST 25 yards of range length; no insane ammo requirements. I’m NOT talking about «no steel core ammo», I’m talking about the silly requirement of frangible ammo in rifles (train with what you use in real world conditions Select Fire!) or slugs only in shotguns… Sherwin Shooting; a good number of lanes (Point Blank has 20); polite staff (we’re talking about gun shop and range, they’re not going to be your best friend in 5 minutes people).
A big factor is price. People complain about «fee this and $ 20 bucks that…» GET A MEMBERSHIP! Even if it’s not with this place. If you own a gun and plan on using it for something other than shooting paper, you need to be on the range a MINIMUM of 4 times a month… if you CCW more often than that! Can’t handle that real talk? Then keep the gun at home cause I don’t want you near me or anyone else if you feel you need to use it for self defense! With a membership you can shoot as often as you want for as long as you want (no one hr limit all you whinny people) and it costs between $ 35 – 60 a month depending on the membership package. Even if you shot 2x a month it would be cheaper to get a membership!
PS. My wife wants me to let all you guys taking your girlfriends to the range so «you can teach them how to shoot», you should be glad Point Blank has a range safety officer. She also said «stop bitching» about dirty firearms being the reason you can’t shoot. Most malfunctions are due to operator error (as in improper grip… 500‑1000 rds between cleaning means NOTHING). So again be happy there is a safety officer… keeps assholes and idiots from pointing loaded firearms at innocent folks (please review Jeff Cooper’s Four Rules).

Wow. Amazing place. Have been to some pretty sketchy ranges in my day for my occasional target practice session but this place is a cut above.
Clean. Well run. Professional. SAFE. Could not ask for a better range experience
Point blank is the only indoor range I will visit. Period.

Ive been here a few times the prices have changed every single time ive been here with no explanation as to why Ive had the same gun with one target and 2 people and have had bad experiences the past two times. The «range officers» today were seriously a bunch of intitled self obsessed people who got pissed off at my girlfriend and I because her rental gun kept jamming because they didn’t clean it; they acted as if thier gun breaking on hs was a nuisance to them and would take forever to come check it then bitch about it and act unprofessional. If you like helpful staff go somewhere else I personally will not go back I will go to a different place from now on. Stay away from this place unless you like being treated like shit. One of the counter people got pissed at me on a different day as well because I wouldn’t buy a gun from them then called me a waste of time. Go to Atwells or Sherwin aviod at all costs!

The staff is helpful and knowledgeable. The facility is clean and top notch for shooters of all skill levels.

Where there is smoke there is fire. I have been anticipating this place’s opening. But there are an astounding number of bad reviews posted here and elsewhere. So many, in fact, that I’m not going to bother going. I will stick with Atwell’s and Sherwin’s where I have always been treated fairly and with respect. Sounds like these guys invested a ton of money on the building and forgot to take a business course.

The following is the prices and sales pitch I was given:
–18/​hr range fee, which I knew already. I was OK with this because I would have shared it with a friend for an additional $ 9, we were only looking to shoot 1 hour anyways. The SAME price as First Strike, our initial range of interest. The difference is, at First Strike, you can stay as LONG as you like! This is HUGE when working on skills and time and cost factor in. I will often spend 2 hours on one skill, after all, this is how you become an effective and responsible shooter.
–A $ 5 yearly fee-​this was pitched to me as a cautionary/​insurance liability «because we offer bullet proof windows and stalls». Up to this point, I was OK with the additional $ 5 a year, I just thought that the sales pitch was lacking and poor marketing. They were passing the cost of liability to the shooter and in REALITY, you are paying to protect them in the event of a law suit at the same time selling a false security to the shooter, as if Unintentional discharge is PREVENTED and that you are SAFE for the additional $ 5. This began rubbing me the wrong way but I was OK with it. Mentor probably needed the business to carry steep insurance.
-$ 3 fee for shooting the cardboard frame which was app. 8“x14”-it was the backing in which you place your targets on. Usually ranges have FULL cardboard backers and CHARGE $ 0. You can even take them home after shooting in most ranges. This little bit of information subtly mentioned really GOT TO ME and here is WHY.
I was told that this FEE was to prevent you from getting CLOSE to the metal hanger that holds the cardboard which secures the targets. So in other words, if you shoot near the cardboard (which for most beginner shooters is NOT hard to do), your $ 3 FEE is to somehow prevent you from accidentally shooting the metal hanger. So in other words, you PAY for NOT hitting the metal hanger. Pretty genius and I’m sure lucrative. Look, I have NEVER been to a range in my 25 years of shooting where you PAID for shooting the backer cardboard. NEVER. This was clearly a way to reign in the $$ for beginner shooters AGAIN with using fear as a sales business plan.
As I end my review, I DO want to mention that I am pleased to see more gun ranges open in the area. There are all sorts of insurance and limits to a gun range including cost of disposal, which is costly, but the marketing and FEE’s that seemed to mount were poorly marketed. How about first time shooting in the range pays $ 20/1.5 hour including Liability wavier? Now that would have not rubbed me the wrong way. The business needs to look at how they sell their services in an area already established with ranges which are much more inexpensive and without the additional FEEs.
Unfortunately, I will not enter in Point Blank again and its not because of hourly range cost but rather the games played with words to squeeze a few dollars more for cardboard and insurance, which protects them and penalizes the beginner shooter. I mean, after all, if you shoot the cardboard and NOT the metal hangers, that is good no?
Pass on this one guys and gals. Look to First Strike and Atwells for all your gun and range needs.

It is a nice, new building. I’ve been here twice now. Most of the staff are friendly. However, it gets expensive really quick. $ 3 for cardboard, $ 5 for a waiver, etc. The $ 5 waiver is an excellent way to add-​on a few bucks for some extra profit. There is no reason to charge $ 5 for us to sign a waiver. We are doing you a favor by signing the waiver and agreeing not to sue you. Now you take advantage of that and charge us money? Silly.
The lanes are ok. No coat hangers, no tables or shelves and really no place to move around. everything has to go on the floor, but they ask you not to put anything on the floor due to lead poisoning. So, essentially, don’t bring anything inside the range. Maybe they should provide lockers or coat racks of some sort for people to put their belongings. If you can’t put it on the floor, and there are no tables or shelves, where are you gonna put it? If you have two people in a lane, forget it.
The range itself is nice and clean. The electric target system is nice, but no way to measure distance. They also move quite fast and are very capable of ripping your target off which then makes you go buy a new one wasting the one you just put out as it is on the range floor.
The first time I went, the range guard was great. Watched for crazy people, rule breaking, etc. Generally, he let us do as we pleased while maintaining safe environment. He even chatted about guns in an impartial manner. The second time, quite literally, every magazine my wife and I shot, the guard came over to correct, advise, or inform me of something. First it was how I hung the target, next was all about lead poisoning, then no bursts of more than 2 (I never shoot faster than 1 per second), don’t leave the lane, don’t shoot for the head, etc. Other guests were equally as annoyed as he was nearly running between lanes to give advice or guidance. Your job is safety, not training. I don’t mind being overly cautious with safety, but when you are tapping everyone’s shoulder constantly, it is no longer a good experience.
I’m undecided if I’ll go back. It is the closest range to me, but I’m not sure I love going there. I will say that gun and ammo prices are very competitive and even cheaper than other places. Other than that, there’s no GOOD reason to go here over another range other than it is a shiny new building.

We stopped in to point blank gun range because we wanted to celebrate my buddy’s birthday by blowing off a few hundred rounds. It was pretty cool because if you bring in a child’s coat you get half an hour of range time for free to benefit the Coats for Kids Foundation. The place is very clean and well lit, the retail side of the store included everything you could possibly need for shooting. No prices were actually very very competitive if not better than Walmart. They were some weird charges you had to pay when you checked in, like you had to buy a target keeper for $ 3 that you can clip your targets too. If you do not damage this piece of cardboard you may return it and get your money back. Also the first time shooting there you do have to pay $ 5 liability waiver. Not 100% sure what this list for or it is even necessary, I’ve shot in many ranges all over the USA and have never been charged a first time liability waiver.
They have 20 lanes to shoot in, and you had to get through three doors to get into the range. There is a fella in there that is the Range Safety Officer who kind of helps out. However my big complaint is you get wedged into one lane, and there is no table do you to start your stuff up on to load your magazines to pre-​oil your weapon or even just to set your coat down. If you are shooting with somebody in an adjacent lane they will not allow you to walk out of your liking with an unloaded weapon to walk into the lane next to you and shoot without first putting in a bag? I’m not quite sure with this accomplishes and seems exceptionally nanny state like.
Your have two people per lane, however it is very small and very cramped and it makes it difficult to shoot with two people in the lane. Another issue I have is that the Electrical target locator he is not digital like most ranges. That means if you wanted to set it at 25 feet it would automatically measure and stop at 25 feet so you know the exact distance of where you are shooting. However there are no markings there is no electronic incremental measurments it’s a straight out eyeball guess. It’s a shame because it’s such a nice place and they get cheap when it comes to details like this overall I would return.

Went there for the first time on Veteran’s Day, where they had free range time for Vet’s. Thanks for that! Nice, new place with a very friendly staff. We had a great time and will go back soon! They just opened several months ago, and are highly recommended. I am not a big gun nut, so not sure how their prices compare to others, but they had a huge selection of guns and accessories.
