Sakura has phenomenal sushi rolls. I would highly recommend the Angel Wing roll. Delicious! Be sure to try the specialty rolls too.

Very good sushi and the service was also very good. I thought it was a little expensive but won’t fault them as the quality was high on all of the sushi and appetizers. Restaurant and restrooms were clean and it had a friendly atmosphere. The hibachi was the weakest of our food choices but this is not a specific hibachi restaurant so again, I’ll let that slide. We will return!

Unfortunately I have to give a negative updated review. Because I was so happy with my past experience with this restaurant, I decided to take my boyfriend and his mother out for dinner there. I ordered my sushi, and my bf and his mother decided to order something different. His mother ordered sesame chicken and he ordered chicken curry. When the food arrived, my sushi was presented beautifully with artifical flowers and a wine glass placed upside down, with the wasabi, ginger and a little light for décor. When his mother’s food came,(remember, she ordered sesame chicken) it was chicken with a sauce that smelled & tasted like orange sause, sesame seads on top and had slices of oranges around the plate. She was extremely disappointed and told the waitress that she didn’t order orange chicken. The waitress told her that it wasn’t and that they don’t even serve orange chicken in the resturant.(Ummm… it was 100% orange chicken with sesame seeds on top) When my bf received his dish, it was nothing like he expected. It was watery, gooey and had the color of mucky green vomit. He took only 2 bites of the dish till he couldn’t take it anymore, saying it was disgusting. I called the waitress over again and asked if he could get another dish to substitute the one he recieved. She had the audacity to say that they couldn’t replace his dish, but if he wanted to order a different dish he could…(meaning he’d have to pay for a new dish including the one he hardly touched). That had to have been the worst service I ever recieved at a resturant. My tip is, unless you are eating sushi or having sushi at the bar, do NOT eat here. Sushi is the only thing they are good at.

Great service, very friendly! Got there early(before they actually opened) but the staff welcomed us in and served us anyway. Sushi was fresh and delicious!

I don’t like giving low ratings, and if I could, I would leave this review rateless until I could go back and make sure that Valentine’s Day was just a fluke-which judging from older reviews, it must have been. I’ll start with the food first, which is what we all really want to know about: The sushi was fantastic. The chefs, busy as they were, made excellent selections on our Love Boat. The waitress unfortunately was unable to tell us what was what but we guessed well enough, I think. We also ordered the Volcano Roll and Rainbow Naruto – both of which were delicious. The Rainbow was crisp and refreshing(it’s wrapped in cucumber-no rice). and it’s served on individual platters with a splash of soy sauce. It’s not very large, only 5 pieces, but it’s definitely worth getting. The Volcano Roll is warm and fried– so people watching their calories should be careful. However, it’s a large order, with about eight really large pieces, and delicious with a mix of textures that’ll get any sushi fan excited. Now, onto the bad part: I definitely understand that Valentine’s Day is an insane day in the restaurant industry, we all do. Which is why I don’t understand why the Sakura owners only had two waitresses and one busser on staff(even the bartender had to get in on the action). I’m a patient person, as is my SO, but we were there for three hours waiting for our food, and we honestly didn’t even wait the longest. There were people there for 30+ minutes waiting to get noticed by the waitress, and multiple couples up and left. It was pretty awful, and as someone who grew up in the restaurant industry, it’d be a veritable nightmare for any restaurant owner. I’m not willing to give up on this place though, despite the atrocious service. I’ll be sure to update if I do go back.

I have been here three times now, and have never had a good experience. The first time, my SO and I walked in on a Friday night. The restaurant was fairly busy, but there were still open tables. We stood at the hostess’ station for over five minutes before even being spoken to. When a hostess finally addressed us, she asked us if we would mind sitting at the sushi bar because we were a small party. We accepted as we are really more of bar people anyways. After seating us, we waited 25 minutes(25!!!) and were never spoken to again or even given water. Several attempts to politely get a servers attention were unsuccessful. We walked out without even a sip of water after over a half an hour. Hoping the we had caught them on an off night, we returned about two weeks later on a Tuesday evening. The place was empty, only two other parties, which were already seated and eating. We each ordered a Sapporo and then waited another 15 minutes before our order was taken. Although I was not pleased with the speed of the service, our server was very personable and pleasant. The sushi was okay, not terrible but nothing to write home about. I returned for a third time the other day for lunch with two other coworkers. Service was once again very slow, which unfortunately overshadowed another very personable server. Sushi was again just okay. After having three less-than-stellar experiences, I do not think I will ever be returning to Sakura. With limited sushi options in the area, that breaks my fish-loving heart.

By far THE best restaurant I have been to since I moved to Wisconsin a month ago. They are actually Japanese and take pride in their cleanliness, presentation, and taste! The restaurant itself is beautifully designed and the wait staff were perfect! I ordered the maki lunch special with spicy crab and chicken tempura rolls with soup and salad for 9 $. Not bad at all, considering all the inflated prices for Asian food in Wisconsin. Oh and Monday’s they have 20% off regular and specialty rolls. Needless to say, I will be going back!

I left the place after waiting for 20 minutes, without even a glass of water being served. If this is the service that they deliver, this will be the kind of review they deserve.

I was really excited that a new sushi place was opening in Menomonee Falls, but unfortunately the food was just not good. My husband and I went there during there grand opening and were impressed by the décor but the service was terrible. We kept getting different servers and the service was slow. The worst part was, while we were eating we could see the staff behind us scarfing down food. This was about an hour before they closed – they could have waited. I decided to give this place another shot yesterday based on a friend’s advice. I made a carryout order, so I cannot say whether or not the service has improved. I ordered the Sakura Trio Sushi and the Sushi and Sashimi Combo. The rice was extremely bland – was not seasoned at all and did not seem to have an rice vinegar in it to give it that«sushi» flavor. I found myself adding a ton of soy sauce and wasabi, something I normally don’t do. The miso soup looked and tasted suspiciously like the dry packets from the grocery store that you just add hot water to. I usually love the salads from Japanese restaurants but this salad was one of the worst I’ve had. When I picked up the container, a stream of water dripped out, watering down an already bland salad. The huge chunks of iceberg lettuce were beginning to brown and I had to eat around the inedible core of the lettuce that should have been thrown away. I can look past the under seasoned food, but laziness and carelessness is unacceptable. If they are this careless with regards to their salad, how can I trust them to serve me raw fish? I honestly don’t know how this place has such good reviews, perhaps the hibachi is better. If you are looking for good sushi in Menomonee Falls, sadly, you won’t find it(Ninja is not much better). If you don’t mind bland sushi, save yourself some time and cash and buy grocery store sushi.

Based on Unilocal reviews, we decided to check out Sakura after seeing a movie in Menomonee Falls on Sunday, 8÷17÷14 at about 7:00PM. The location has an upscale look and feel when first walking in; a polished tile floor throughout, a dining area surrounded by a live Bamboo(garden box) perimeter, a Sushi Bar, a full cocktail bar and high-backed leather booth seating. I ordered a Jack Daniel’s on the rocks($ 8.00 — a bit pricey for the pour) after being told by the server that they only had a «well scotch» and no «Dewers.» We ordered two entrees; the first: the«Sushi Deluxe» plate which came with five different types of fish(two pieces each) accompanied by a Tuna Roll. The fish was AOK: Mackerel, Tuna, Salmon, Yellowtail and another undetermined type of White Fish.($ 22.00). The second entrée: Shrimp Tempura($ 15.00). The shrimp was also AOK. Both meals came with a small(head) lettuce salad tossed with a house ginger dressing and a Miso soup. After finishing our initial order, we re-ordered and asked for Smelt Roe/Quail Egg sushi. The server had no idea what Smelt Roe was so, in its stead, we ordered Salmon Roe/Quail Egg. It was good. Our server was initially hurried and short with us, but slowed down a bit and had more patience as we talked with him and asked him questions. All-in-all, my personal experience over the years with Sushi Bar restaurants is mostly in Los Angeles, where the majority of the restaurants are a bit more traditional and owned/operated by folks of Japanese ancestry. IMHO, although an AOK experience all around, Sakura would not do well in Los Angeles or other megatropolis cities where traditional Japanese restaurants are aplenty.

I got take out from Sakura a few weeks ago. Overall, for take out it was decent. I would probably order from them again, but this isn’t my favorite sushi place I have been to. This mostly had to do with their sushi specialty rolls. I wasn’t as big of a fan of some of their combos as I am of other sushi places. However, all of the fish was fresh and the sushi was made well. My order was taken promptly on the phone and was ready within 15 minutes on-site. Overall, I had a good experience, the food was good and if I’m in the area I would stop in for either take out or to eat in.

So happy to get Sushi into the falls. Kicks the crud out of my old sushi haunt(Samurai). I like the décor with the bamboo theme on the inside. I’ve not tired the bar(to the right when you come in) but the restaurant rarely seems over crowded, I’ve never had a wait, but it also never seems empty. Service is always respectable, never problematic, or great. The food is good, lunch does well here good pricing and quick turn around. Makes for a nice out of work stop.

Upgrade! I’ve returned to Sakura quite a few times for lunch now and their food/service is consistently getting better! The presentation is amazing! They’ve recently started putting soy sauce designs on the plate and they’re beautifully done. Today I got a dragon. I would also say the quality of the rolls has improved. My favorite part is that they don’t have so much rice on them that you can’t taste the fish.

Really pleasantly surprised with Sakura, considering its in a strip mall in Menomonee Falls. You’ll forget that once you enter, as the interior is quite nice — modern earth tones with fish tanks separating the bar + dining area. Sakura has a good selection of sake — about a dozen kinds. Unfortunately, the sake list is a laminated sheet with pics of the bottles but no descriptions. Expect to pay about $ 11 – 14 for an individual serving bottle. There’s also a full cocktail list. There’s a lot to pick from on the menu — sushi, sashimi, cooked entrees, noodles — something for everyone. We stuck to sushi — prices for the basic rolls were very fair, and the specialty ones were $ 11 – 13. All of the rolls we tried were fresh tasting, nicely presented and delicious! My favorites were the Angel Wing and Crunchy 2-in-1. So, so good. One note — we had some mixed tempura to start and while it was very good the batter was much thicker than I’m used to. Service — our server was super nice, but not the most attentive. To be fair, maybe she didn’t want to disturb two girls who were busy demolishing sushi and chugging sake. I wouldnt blame her — pretty sure we were frightening small children. Overall, what I had at Sakura was most definitely above average — I would return without hesitation!

I recently came back with a friend and grabbygrabby SEIZED the opportunity to sit at their sushi bar. Shortly after we’d taken our seats one of the sushi chefs presented to us a hot octopus salad and said it was on the house!(I think they’d read my Unilocal review and easily recognized me, so that may have been the reason for the free food.) I’m usually not a huge fan of octopus, so I was very pleasantly surprised to so enjoy it! Oh, and the smokey, generously spicy sauce drizzled on top was a welcome addition. We were lucky enough to have the same server I had during my first visit — KRISTINA is her name! Now I can finally remember! — and she was just as fantastic as last time. And so was the food. I was lucky enough to try their pan-fried gyoza upon the prompting of my buddy who was still hungry after we split the Volcano Roll(yeah, so what, it’s faux-sushi, but it’s also DAMN good). The skins were perfectly chewy and crisp. I can’t remember exactly what these sexy little dumplings were filled with; hell, it coulda been earthworms out of the backyard and I couldn’t have cared less ‘cuz it tasted great! Looking back on my second visit to Sakura, I’ll say the icing on the cake was when the sushi chefs made chit chat with us and made sure we were enjoying ourselves. Before I forget, I should note that there are TWO turtles in residence, and their names are«Lucy» and«Ricky».

Finally a good quality sushi place in the neighborhood! The sushi and sashimi was really good. Family friendly atmosphere. Other dishes(fried rice, pad thai and tempura) was average.

This is a suburban sushi success story. I’ll admit — I was skeptical about strip mall, Menomonee Falls sushi. After several friends stopped in and had good things to say, I decided to check it out for myself. I dined during the lunch hour so I opted for one of the special: 5 pieces of Chef’s Nigiri served with house salad(with ginger dressing) and miso soup. As usual, I also had a cup of hot tea. Everything was also priced reasonably at $ 11.00. Alternatively, I could have ordered two rolls for $ 9.00 or three rolls for $ 11.00. I did not want to bite off more than I could chew, but that seems like a great choice when dining with a friend. The soup, salad and tea arrived promptly. The entrée was not far behind. Dishes were cleared very quickly and everything looked and tasted delicious. One of my «chef’s choice» pieces of nigiri had a slight bite but the rest were rich and creamy. The quality was impressive and rivaled most«city» sushi joints. The décor was clean and modern. It made me forget I was in a strip mall, unlike some decorating schemes on similar establishments. I also noted the smell. This restaurant lacked that tempura deep-fry aroma that permeates everything you love and that was one of my favorite features. I even left noting that my clothes did not smell of cooking at all and I could not be more pleased. I did notice that I was still in the ‘burbs. Most of the other guests brought their families. Some of the children were not on their best behavior and also were quite messy(throwing trash over the floor — napkins, chopstick wrappers, etc.). The staff promptly cleaned up after they left. From what I understand, not as many families dine there at night but with the location, it seems to be more family friendly. Parking is in the lot for the mall. You need to navigate through the wandering drivers that feel the lines are a suggestion. Typical, but fair warning. Overall, I was impressed and plan to go back. In addition to sushi they also have hibachi and some declicious desserts I hope to share in the future. If heading north, may your compass lead you here for a full belly and clothes that do not smell of many flavors.
