I didn’t know how good I had it — the house I used to own in Mountain View was next to a park, and shaded by heritage trees that kept the interior temperatures steady and wine-friendly all year round. When I sold the house, I needed to find a new home for my wine«cellar» — possibly indefinitely. It turned out that finding wine storage in the South Bay is almost(but not quite) as tough as finding an honest politician(which, according to Robert A. Heinlein, is one who stays bought). After some extensive Unilocaling, Googling, and even old-fashioned calling, I was ready to rent a locker at K&L Wine Merchants. I called them, and found that there was a waiting list for ground-level lockers longer than the list of MDs who run for the Hills whenever a patient reveals their insurance is ObamaCare. K&L’s other lockers require that you climb a ladder while carrying cases of wine in your arms — not a trick I intend to master… When all else fails, go with word-of-mouth — I asked all the people I know who truly appreciate fine wine if they knew of any good places, and one of them told me about Wine Bank. Manager Tomas Mieres gave me the 411 when I called, and showed me around when I came in for a look-see a few hours later — I was impressed! Here’s why I like Wine Bank better than it’s competitors: — Bordeaux/Burgundy shelf lockers — Every other place I talked to only has lockers designed for Standard size wine cases. Burdeaux/Burgundy cases take up less space, and thus the locker prices are cheaper.
— Reasonably priced wine cases — Both sizes are available for good prices in whatever quantity you need. I needed to reorganize my cellar anyway, so I bought all new Bordeaux/Burgundy cases right before my wine moved in. — No rickety ladders — Regardless of what floor your locker is on, you never have to climb an «Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom» style ladder while carrying a case of wine in your arms. Non-ground level units are not excessively high, and if you need a ladder to get at the highest shelf within your locker, the ones available are large and solid.
— No lugging individual cases — two and four wheeled carts are readily available so that you can easily get your wine from your car to your locker without an excessive number of trips. — Elevators — If choose a more inexpensive upper-floor locker(subject to availability) your wine can go up on an elevator. Open seven days a week from 11am to 7pm, Wine Bank is easily accessible from 101, and boasts exceptional customer service. Tomas(who sports the most amazing Brooklyn accent I’ve ever heard from a guy born in the Southern Hemisphere) always tries to go the extra mile, and unfailingly greets customers warmly. Tip: In response to increasing customer demand for their excellent service and perfectly climate controlled wine storage, Wine Bank is expanding their facility. The new lockers are expected to be available in Q42014 and/or Q12015. If you’re think you might want to have your wine take up residence, you should give Tomas a call and put your name on the waiting list. Otherwise, you may find yourself on a rickety bridge having a close encounter with Mola Ram while he chants«Kali Ma… Kali Ma… Kali Ma Shakti de»

I have been storing my wine here for over a decade. These guys are by far the most professional wine storage outfit in the bay area. Priced competitively, and better locker designs and service and hours. Great business model — I wish I had thought of it. Its hard to find the hours on their web page though, so here it is: OPEN7DAYS A WEEK11AM — 7PM

Love the guys here. Tomas knows me by name, and pulls my shipment as soon as he sees me drive in. Great place to safely store wine.

Did you know that there are places you can get temperature-controlled, secure storage lockers for WINE? I didn’t know this until recently. Went to the Wine Bank to drop off some wine with my S.O. and was very impressed with the facility. Very secure(multiple locked entry points), immaculately clean and easy to get around. They also had a receptionist at the front desk on a holiday — now THAT is service! If I ever am lucky enough to have so much wine that I need a storage locker for it — I would store it here! :)

Secure and reliable storage facility for all my wine that I do not have space for at home and I am able to scale my storage space as needed. The staff is awesome and always helpful. It is great to be able to have all my wine club and other shipments delivered directly there so that they immediately go into the temperature controlled environment. The storage area is spacious and easy to get around. Also nice central location just off 101 and Dumbarton bridge. They also have great wine tasting events for members.

Great place to have your wine stored professionally. The staff(particulalry Tomas) is wonderful… extremely helpful and always greet you by name. The service is so good, I have decided not to build a cellar or buy a home storage unit for myself. The new extended hours and proximity to HWY101 and the Dumbarton bridge make it an ideal place for people everywhere in the bay area. Highly recommend!
