Oh dear, other than keeping Liz out front there is not much to like about this move to the pool. What used to be the best deal on sand hill road, is no longer. Sandwich is now $ 10.50, and cokes and chips are $ 3 each. Its combined with pool sitdown restaurant and logistics aren’t quite worked out. Pool menu is for sitdown is even more expensive then main restaurant; which makes no sense.

Update: I went for lunch today to find out that my $ 7.XX sandwich just went to $ 9.XX. i do enjoy their sandos but for $ 10 i can go down to Eric’s or down to Palo Alto. Fast. Close. Reasonably Priced. Friendly Service. I go often.

This is the most obscure place I have ever gone to on a routine basis. You have to walk to a far corner of the Rosewood, through the spa, to get there and it is easy to get lost on your journey back out. It is definitely worth it. They make an awesome sandwich, the cookies are tasty and the service is great. My only piece of advice is to get there early — they routinely run out of standard items(roast beef, turkey etc.) by 1:30. If you are a lawyer/banker/investor in the area, you should add this to your weekly lunch routine.

There is a surprising lack of convenient lunch options on Sand Hill, but even if I had many options for lunch Spa Café would be one of my favorites. They have great custom sandwiches and paninis. The meat all comes from Madera fresh each day. Lovely walk through the resort, past the pool down to the café. Some days there is a line out the door and some days it is empty. Note if they are out of one of their pre-made paninis you can usually recreate it on the custom order(eg the Mediterranean). Four stars because the fruit/chips/beverage selection is very limited.

If you work in VC/PE paradise on Sand Hill Rd, Spa Café is a convenient and delicious option for a quick lunch. They have great sandwiches with combinations that are creatively thought out. Their paninis are bomb and you can add a drink and cookie or chip for a extra dollar or so. It is hidden in the heart of the Rosewood but if you find it you will be rewarded with a nice meal.

Nice little deli/café in the new hotel. They had a nice selection of pre made sandwiches ready to grill. They also do sandwiches to order. The ingredient list included a vegetarian smoked tofu option which is always nice to have. There were pre made salads(the beet salad was sold out… bummer) and deserts. They also do specialty coffees. The menu also lists light breakfast options, good to know. They share a small outdoor area with the spa so there are a few small tables. I ended up ordering two of the pre made sandwiches which were grilled to order. Yum! The sandwiches are $ 7 flat, as many items as you want. Not too bad. Its nice to have an option other than the Sundeck. I’m assuming this hidden little spot is going to become very busy once all of the offices within the complex open.
