Jax Salon

Nicole is amazing! I had to write this review for her after seeing her consistently for more than a year and always leaving so happy with her work. In addition to solid cuts, she is a fantastic colorist! She is a great listener and truly wants to understand what you’re looking for. At the same time, she is always very thoughtful and creative about what would work best for my coloring, etc… which is not a quality every stylist has. Nicole is truly a professional! Not to mention she is a lovely person and a pleasure to chat with through your appointment!

Tiffany is awesome! She has been doing my hair for about a year now and I never feel rushed as she takes her time to highlight and cut my hair. I recently came in and had horrible roots, she worked her magic with highlights and balayage to leave me very happy with my hair. I highly recommend her.

SETAREH IS AMAZING! After spending a sad amount of time and money trying other local salons, I was left with hair I was never completely happy with thanks to stylists who didn’t really care and didn’t really know what they were doing. Setareh listened to exactly what I wanted and not only did she fix the mistakes of other stylists in one try, she did a PERFECT job. EXACTLY what I asked for. She really is an artist.

After going to millions of high end salons and many color changes I feel I finally found the perfect hair genius! This hair guru’s name is Tiffany! She corrected my color which was a deep red and transformed it carefully and precisely to the color I requested. I walked out of that salon so incredibly ecstatic and confident! I have a lot of very thick course hair and it takes patience to work with it. Tiffany really took time and patience and created the look that I desired! If you’re looking for a professional who is skilled at what they do then you will find that in Tiffany. I can’t say enough about how happy I am.

Jack is the best! The salon is gorgeous first of all, and not only is Jack great for conversation, but he is a master of hair. I have had several hair artists over the years, and inevitably leave them when they triple book me, or try some funky thing on my hair that breaks my trust. Not here — Jack believes women should have hair that men will love to look at, and always wants you to look sexy and beautiful. He is GREAT with color — so experienced! And I’m always out the door in two hours, cut and color. As long as Jax is here, I won’t go anywhere else.

I followed my hair stylist Davide to Jax from La Belle, having been told about him by my sister a few years ago. I live in San Francisco and tried to find someone local but nobody was nearly as good. Now I’ve learned I should just make the trip to see Davide because he really is exceptionally talented. He’s especially good with color and works hard to get the right effect. He studies my hair when I arrive, sees if anything needs to change, and knows what to do. I love the fact that I can trust him completely. He also gives great cuts. I have thick and unruly hair and he’s a master at shaping it. And he’s a funny and good guy. I wasn’t sure at first how to contact him now that he’s left La Belle, but he has a Unilocal page,

Jack has done my hair for 15 years, I am completely sold on the quality of his work.
This review is about the design of his salon. I have seen 3 of his salons and I have to say the feel of this one might be his best work ever.
If I could give 6 stars for design I would and the Vodka Cranberry cocktails for my afternoon appointments are a treat too.

I’ve been going to Setareh for two years now, and once I learned she wasn’t at her old place anymore found here here, (thanx to you previous Unilocalers!) I got awesome hair (see pics) and would follow her anywhere! She always seems to be able to add a chic twist to my requests to make it shine!

I followed my stylist Davide, from La Belle to the new Jax Salon. Davide knows how to make your hair work for you. My hair is thick and hard to work with, but his cuts are always contemporary, easy to style, and grow out exceptionally well. He is also excellent at color and highlights. My blond highlights always look natural and golden, never stripy. The new location is clean and well decorated with attention given to the details! Love it!

Tiffany has been cutting my hair for a few years now. I tried to go to a different stylist, when my office moved to SF, but no one compared. I now drive to Menlo Park to see her every 5 weeks. I always leave loving my hair and feeling so good and happy. She is as good with color as she is with cutting. If I bring a picture in, not only does she make my hair look like the picture, but usually better! I have sent many friends to Tiffany and they all swear by her. She is a hidden gem in Menlo Park.
I can’t say enough about her and her skills.

I come see Tiffany for highlights and a cut every couple of months. She always does a fantastic job. I have long blonde hair and I hardly ever style it — I’m more of a wash-​it-​and-​go kind of lady — so I need a cut that’s low-​maintenance and easy to work with. I also hate the look of stripey, high-​contrast, unnatural looking highlights. Tiffany does a great job of listening to what I want and offering ideas to make my hair look even better. The color always comes out looking natural so that even though I don’t make it in for monthly touch ups, my highlights look fine grown out a little. She also gives me a great haircut and is a lot of fun to talk to.
The salon recently moved from their downtown location near Santa Cruz Ave to a smaller spot about 5 minutes away on El Camino. While the location isn’t as convenient (and parking is tougher even though they have their own little lot) it seems more appropriately sized. The old spot seemed almost cavernous! The salon itself is stylishly decorated and bright with plenty of natural light. It’s a little hard to find — it’s down a path behind a fitness studio with a big picture of a bulldog, and there’s no signage — but once you find it it’s like a little oasis.
I only have two things on my wish list for this place. One, they only take cash or check. They’re not cheap so this can be kind of a pain. Two, they’re hard to get ahold of. They don’t have a receptionist (your stylist greets you in the waiting area when you get there) so typically there’s no one answering the phone when you call. However they have an easy online booking system so it’s not a big deal.
So: 5 stars for Tiffany’s consistently excellent work… but I have to take off a star for my payment/​communication misgivings.
Overall I would recommend them! Tiffany is worth the price… because as they say on 30 Rock, «Your hair is your head suit.»

Setarah «Star» is absolutely fabulous! The best colorist ever. My very favorite stylist. I followed her from H.I. Salon in PA and would follow her wherever she worked. She always makes me look and feel beautiful. People actually stop and tell me that the color of my hair is gorgeous — all thanks to Star. I recommend her highly to everyone: male, female and children’s hair. You’ll be glad you found Star!

Setareh (Star) does a great job on my hair. I have gone to her for a couple of years now, and I’ve followed her over to Jax. She is great fun to talk to and always does fine work.

I’ve had my hair cut by Setareh for many years now. She is very talented, diligent, and creative. And she has a warm and caring personality.
She used to work at Stanford mall (going by her nickname «Star») for many years and I switched salons to continue to benefit from her great talent.

I have been getting my hair cut by the fabulous Jack of Jax Salon for over 15 years. Always a great cut and color for which I get consistent compliments. And Jack is always an interesting guy to chat with. The (new) salon is beautiful and peaceful with a spacious and relaxing feel. They always operate on time and give excellent and professional service. Highly recommended.
