Great little café! Perfect breakfast spot. Food was delicious! Breakfast sandwiches were awesome — made fresh as you wait. Owner was incredibly nice, offered samples of some new recipes, and let us bring coffee from a shop right next door. I would highly recommend checking this spot out for a nice breakfast bite!

Best fish tacos! Small place with 4 tables, but the food quality was great. My wife had the made from scratch clam chowder and was equally impressed. Finally, the cheesecake was made inhouse and was awesome.

Kids loved the rice, bean and cheese burritos that we brought on a picnic to Russian Gulch park north of town.

The food was prepped and ready to go for a quick snack as you are shopping around town. The lady behind the counter was helpful selecting some good choices in sandwiches. It was a quick rest and off we go to visit the rest of the town.

Were looking to eat around yesterday, needed something yummy, fresh and fast. And oh, not 16 $ for a sandwich place. So this one was a perfect match. The lady was super nice, the sandwiches were fresh, the bread was crispy and the prices were 7 – 9 $ for a giant nice sandwich to go. Plus there is a nice garden with benches right around the corner we could sit and enjoy)

Yum! The chicken salad and egg salad sandwiches were amazing! You must try the shrimp with avocado! Great owners and great food. Perfect place to get food for a hike. A must if you’re in Mendocino!

If you’re on a budget in Mendo, there isn’t alot of evening dining that’s under $ 15 – 20 a person. Sit down dining wasn’t our plan the four days we spend here. We wandered past Tote Fête at 4:30pm and surprisingly found several items we could order ala carte, warm up there or bring back to our oven/micro at the b&b, all for under $ 25 total without drinks. I had the pot pie, a pint of spinach salad with walnuts and bleu cheese while my hubby had two mango cheese quesadillas and a pecan pie to go. Doesn’t sound like alot fo food, but it was enough. Yum!

I’m a local and eat here occasionally. They do make most of the food in-house and it is a notch above the average counter deli. The meatloaf sandwich Good selection of sandwiches in particular, and personally I love the house-made yakisoba. The couple who owns it are flawlessly friendly.

This place was amazing. It fed us and the people were so nice! My friend and I were looking for food after we got into town and found this place walking around the main street. The thing I loved the most was the variety. I think we ended up grabbing a baked potato, some salmon salad and a yakisoba to split. I saw a comment saying that it was made with ramen noodles? Not the case. it was legit. I liked that they had healthy options like fruit cups and fresh salad. We ended up coming back multiple times not only to eat in but to grab stuff to take on our hikes. They package everything so well if you take it to go, it was pretty convenient. I agree with some that it isn’t the most fancy pansty place, but its super cute, quaint and pretty dang tasty. I will recommend to all!

This quaint shop has a variety of cheap, fresh, and healthy treats that will make you want to come back for more! They have everything from freshly homemade salads(salmon salad was the best!), hand crafted sandwiches, baked goods, and teriyaki lunch specials made to order by the owner. My fav was the Egg Salad Sandwich which wasn’t too salty and had such great creamy flavor. Oh, and don’t forget to try the Pecan Tart paired with a hot tea… a definite must on a nice breezy afternoon. The owners are incredibly friendly and make you feel right at home right when you walk in. They also have great recommendations about what to do in the area which is always great plus for travelers who are new to the city. I will definitely come back not only to enjoy their amazing food, but to say HI to the owners again! Also a great to-go option for picnics, nice strolls, and drive back home!

I see that a lot of the other reviewers are calling this place boring, and I suppose they’re right. BUT, I didn’t go into Tote Fête to be excited; I went in to get fed. The owner was friendly and made my girlfriend’s teriyaki chicken to order, serving it with some rice, veggies, and little condiment cups of teriyaki sauce and Sriracha hot sauce(our favorite!) I had a sandwich, and both our meals were fresh, tasty, and filling. Next time we come to Mendocino, I’d love to follow another reviewer’s suggestion to order a picnic meal from Tote Fête. Also, if the bakery around back by the garden is also part of the same place(as «rb» says), everything there looked delicious, and the pumpkin empanada was like a delicious pumpkin pie in a pie-crust calzone-like shell. Gotta love the free samples, too!

My wife and I got some food for lunch here and the food was OK and kind of pricey. Everything was fresh and home made. The salads were fresh, but a little bland. I had the Chicken Fajitas and they were fresh, but bland and kind of small given the price. My wife had their Yakasoba Noodle special and it was OK. The noodles were Ramen Noodles and not very flavorful. The couple who run the shop are very friendly and I like the fact that you can take your food and eat in a small garden behind the shop.

Super friendly owners so I feel back Unilocaling that their food is pricey and bland. I had the Yakisoba with chicken and veggies with a small size(¼ lb of the salmon salad). The chicken dish was made with instant ramen noodles, not Yakisoba! Plus, the chicken were chunks of meat with indeterminate origins. I fed most of the chicken to Josie poodle who seemed to really enjoy but then again she also licks her butt for fun. The salmon salad is what averages out this review to 3-stars. It was awesome! Chunks of seasoned salmon with razor thin slices of onions and asparagus in a light vinaigrette. They have some stools along the wall so you can eat while watching the thriving metropolis of Mendocino or you can take the stuff and walk around back to the garden area and eat with your pup. We ate at the end of the day so we had the lovely dog friendly garden to ourselves.

The friendly owners make service a priority! Tastiest, and most original sandwiches in town by far. Wide variety of ready-made salads(Don’t miss the Asian Chicken Slaw) and desserts. Great for grabbing a picnic, or take out dinner.

I read a previous review in which the English skills of the Asian owners were criticized. Not sure where this reviewer is from(nor why an owner’s English skills would be relevant when rating food), but just because one speaks with an accent doesn’t mean that one doesn’t speak excellent English — which the owners here do. Now, on to the food. Not pricey by Bay Area standards(I’m from San Francisco), and the ingredients are always seriously fresh. Get the mango-chicken quesadilla and you won’t be sorry. Also, the salmon & asparagus salad(can’t get enough of that — cooked to perfection). The baked goods are made right there too. Take a window stool and watch the world or the ocean wave by, or trot behind to the garden dining area — all good.

The food in the front shop is pricy & so-so. What I go back to, is their bakery in the back. You need to walk around the building, down the street, into a garden to find it. The bakery has been through a few ownerships over the years, but is still a great place for coffee & fresh baked goods in the morning. You can see them taking it out of the ovens if you get there early. Plus, they have mexican hot chocolate. Seating is just a few stools against a window counter, but take your goodies into the garden patio if weather permits.

Average, average and more average. It was in swanky Mendocino and wanted a cheap eat instead of the $ 15 chicken sandwich across the street and walked into this place thinking it would be decent. The sandwiches were pre-made and just… boring. The owners were really nice to us and despite their limited engilsh were happy to talk to us and give us directions. I had a California club and it was the most boring thing I have ever had in my life.

More of a sandwich and deli place than a bakery. This is a tiny, charming, sun-filled eatery in Mendocino Village. Only about a half-dozen stools along with window across from a cooler filled with delicious deli offerings(sandwiches, salads, baked goods, wraps, etc). My husband and I split a great chicken salad sandwhich($ 5.50) n locally made wheat bread. Chicken salad had lots of tasty chunks of chicken, celery, raisins, nuts, apples. Potato salad($ 3/lb) was also delicious with a little celery seed to give it extra flavor. Extremely nice people own the shop and gave us lots of suggestions on what to do around town. A perfect break from the expensive, formal options in Mendocino.
