I must preface this review by saying that I was raised in typical country clubs, in their exclusionary policies, and racial tension. My first time at Ridgeway was as a bar mitzvah guest in 1991. You see, the club has roots in a Jewish population who enjoyed the finer things, but found their own spot on the edge of the city, just into Collierville. As Collierville has swollen with population(both young and transient workers) these families have choices as to where to go, and many of them follow the schoolmates and workmates to Ridgeway Country Club. My second time to the club was just a few years ago, where Kerry, one of the top servers, kept my champagne filled during an auction for St. George’s. Loose morals, loose votes!(It’s just smart business.) Wise leadership has kept us in some excellent dining options for years, and parties either fire or fizzle. The key to parties is inviting the children, and entertaining those children. A playroom used to do the trick. Now a family night on Sunday evenings includes putting contests and other activities for the children to do while the parents sociailize and finish their dinner. Ridgeway is a great place to host a party. Only a few emails has your date and preferences set. I have held a large baby shower here, as well as my daughter’s tea party birthday with queen Elsa as a special guest. Currently our two children are taking dorp-in tennis lessons at the tennis building three days a week, and having wild fun with it! Holidays are a pleasure as well. Halloween is a family favorite where hayrides and petting zoos keep children roaming the putting greens, a buffet and costume and dance contest bring all the children together for the anticipation and excitement.
