This is by far the BEST sushi I have EVER had in my life. Ive been to many states and all over Michigan looking for a good sushi spot and nothing even comes close. It almost makes me want to move back to Memphis. Their Rock n’ Roll and big apple roll are delicious. Memphis roll is awesome too. I don’t think I have tried any rolls there that I did not like Their rice is good as well. Had their steak and lobster both were cooked well. If you are looking for sushi this is the place to go.

Red Koi is in the end of a strip mall so its not a fancy sushi place and it felt kinda dirty. But the sushi is good though. I had 4 different rolls and I liked all but the mummy«novelty» roll. The price and portions I think are good. I tried the lobster and steak hibachi with the fried rice and the fried rice is pretty good.

This place is LEGIT. I travel a lot for work and wind up in Memphis quite a bit. Too much. I eat here at least once every trip. Usually it’s the first place I go. My top 3 moments of my 35 year-old-life so far are: 1. Marrying my beautiful wife 2. Watching my son being born 3. Eating Red Koi’s Crunchy Crab roll for the first time. If you don’t know, now you know

Went here when visiting Memphis and it was really good! They give you a good helping of food and the staff is nice and checks on you often. It was jammed pack when we went but still were treated well. I would definitely recommend this place if you like sushi and getting the bang for your buck!

This place is very intimate. I love the sushi selection and the service is OK. The first time I came here I had a slight issue with one server but I would definitely come back.

Place is not intimate. Very loud. The sushi bar was dirty. With so many wait staff, they need to pay attention to detail. The In Moment experience was a 1 star. Usually when you enter a decent Sushi restaurant you want to feel like you are in for a treat. I didn’t feel that when I walked in. It was not busy. Chairs at the empty dirty tables were not pushed in properly. Looked more like a cafeteria than a restaurant. Now for the food. I ordered a sashimi deluxe and when presented, I immediately thought there was a fish shortage. See my pics. The pieces were well below the average size in the US. As for the quality, I gave a 2.5 star. Just didn’t WOW me. Look for another place and skip this strip mall joint.

The Tornado roll is one of my new guilty pleasures! I was very worried that I would not like it due to the«sweet sauce» the menu said came on it. The roll contains salmon, avocado, cream cheese and it is then deep fried and topped with this sweet sauce. I am not sure if this is savory or dessert, but it is bliss. I took one bite and knew I would be coming back to Red Koi many, many more times. The place is very clean and pretty modern in furnishings/décor. The staff are courteous and speedy. You can smell the food on the hibachi grill from outside the building. It definitely gets your appetite going. I got the lunch special: two rolls of sushi and a small side salad. The ninja roll has great texture with the asparagus and crispy calamari. Plus it gives quite a kick from the spicy mayo. I have already mentioned the greatness that is the tornado roll. I will be back to try some raw sushi next time.

Still one of my favorite spots off of popular! Service can be pretty good here, other than the great chicken fried rice this place is great. Be careful of the lunch rush here, seats may be hard to come by. This place is tiny and full of people serving great food. Be sure to check out the bar!

For me this is the best sushi/hibatchi in the area and you cannot beat the price point. I love the mummy roll! Decadent. I can never eat the whole thing you can definitely share this one. It’s a mount of thread string potatoes on top of shrimp tempura rolls with different sauces drizzled on top, yum. My favorite thing is the lunch menu on the weekends. #winning

I absolutely love Red Koi. The ginger salad dressing is so delicious and creamy and I wish I could buy bottles of it. I normally get the tornado roll and the yellow stone roll which come out looking and tasting perfect every time. The hibachi is really tasty, although it can be way too salty sometimes. The food always comes out fast and fresh, even when they are slammed. My only complaint would be about one specific server. I will not name drop, but I’ve had him several times and he is definitely the rudest server I have ever had. It takes a lot for me to complain to management, but the second to last time I ate there and had him as my server, I had to say something. My friends and I were so shocked and disgusted by his behavior and attitude. He obviously hates his job and boy, he really shows it. All the manager said was to ask for someone else next time. So, I go in a few weeks later, ask to be seated in someone else’s section, but was denied because it was his turn in rotation to get a table and it was a busy night. I sucked it up because my friends were hungry and really wanted to eat there. There was no change in his behavior from the last time I had him as a server. Ah well. What can yah do? Hopefully next time I go, I won’t have to sit in his section. If there’s no one else, then I’ll just leave. Having to deal with a jaded server really does ruin a dining experience.

My friend and I had the crunchy shrimp roll, an order of chicken fried rice, clear soup, and house salads. The sushi was excellent. Soup and salads were very good. However, the chicken fried rice lacked flavor. We both had diet cokes which tasted funny. The service was not great. It took a long time to get our check. We had to hunt down the waiter to ask for it. He then served two more tables before giving me the check.

Great food! Arrived with 4 friends. Had a selection of appetizers, and all were fantastic. A couple of my friends said that this was the best sushi that they had ever had.(I have lived in California — it was not as good as it gets, however, this might be the best in Memphis!) Ordered several rolls, everyone at the table was delighted with them. Ordered the seafood tempura — excellently prepared, however, not a generous portion. The unagi nigiri was good, but not great. Out of stock of two of the best sakes! Will be back. Had a wonderful meal. Highly recommended. Server was very sweet and caring.

Had a good meal tonight. Agedashi tofu was good, martini salad was good, my friend had the house fried rice and it was good with a nice garlicky flavor. I’ve had some mediocre lunches before but I will come back as it seems to be getting better. $ 5 for a bottled beer was a bit high as it’s not the Peabody or the Purple Church. The service was good. They may well merit 4 stars and I will come back to try some other items.

Yum, delicious! Dropped by for a quick bite and we were very pleasantly surprised. The Red Devil Roll was amazing and my daughter deemed the California roll«the best she has ever had». The tempura ice cream was good, it could have been crisper. The décor is cool, there seemed to only be one hibachi table and I personally like smaller«hole in the wall» placed but the food was very good. We will be back!

This is a great option for Sushi in Memphis! I love the fact that it is across the street from my office and the lunch options are great! All the rolls I have had here are great, including the salad, soup, complimentary spring rolls, and cooked food options. The service here is great and they are very quick for those needing a quick lunch!

Well, it’s been almost two years since I first reviewed you, Red Koi. I’ve been forced to go to RKA to deal with my addiction.(Red Koi Anonymous for you non-addicts) You’re the apple of my eye, RK. You’re the wind beneath my wings.(Sorry, Elton…) If you have not been here, you are SERIOUSLY missing out. Best sushi in town, best fried rice in town, best ambiance in town. Go. Order Spicy Tuna Rolls and Red Koi Special Fried Rice. Eat. Regret. Eat Again. Pay and leave. Rinse, repeat, and try to upstage my dukedom. You’re on. I’m going tonight… are you?

This place is so fantabulous that it’s awesomeness cannot be described in words. I love how great their sushi is, how large their selection, and how affordable it is. They have a large variety of sushi to pick from ranging from about $ 5 to about $ 12 I believe. They also have excellent Japanese food– their fried rice is as good as Stix!!! That’s super rare. They give complimentary Spring Rolls to each person, which is a super cool thing as well. I was surprised that I didn’t like the Eel roll because I love eel, but it just wasn’t good for me. I also disliked the Rainbow Roll but another friend loved it. I have never had seaweed salad before and ermahgerd I gotta have it again! Oddly enough, the steak in the hibachi meal didn’t taste that great but the steak in the fried rice tasted amazing! I usually dislike steak but actually liked it that way. Pretty neat! The Big Apple Roll is the best of the best so newcomers should definitely try that(if they like shrimp– WHODOESN’T?!). The Mummy Roll looks huge but it’s mostly the potato on top. It was still pretty yummy. The Yum-Yum Shrimp was good but tasted too much like mayo to me. I like the Bang Bang Shrimp at Bonefish better but my friend liked these better.
