Had never been to an event here other than the tennis tournament until last night. Attended the Junior League Merry Marketplace. People were well versed in helping us get where we needed to be. The space was very large and well laid out. The temperature was too warm at first. Previous visits to the pool area were very nice. Lots of chairs with umbrellas for shade and a very attentive bartender. The tennis tournament is always well done though it has been years since I’ve attended. Parking is never fun for large events there, and last night was no exception. We parked offsite and walked to and from our cars. The Junior League did provide a shuttle for those who wanted one.

The Racquet Club of Memphis has historically been known as a city club specializing in tennis hosting the annual ATP tournament coming thorough town each year. With recent tournament downgrade and sale of the tournament the club has been forced to create programming and family activities to draw members. This transition has forced the pool, wellness programs, food services and other essential city club experiences to new levels making the Racquet Club a great place to join. With small children interested in tennis, swimming and primary social activities my wife and I have grown to love having a drink by the pool while our kids are active. If you haven’t been recently stop by and get a tour from Taylor Taylor and ask about all of the activities going on throughout the year. The scene is casual and low key with plenty of activities to entertain the while family while not being stuffy or overly county club-ish. I’m excited about the direction the club is moving and hope they continue refining activities and facilities to make this a historic boutique city club for my family.

I didn’t realize that this was more than just tennis, it is an all out country club! Pretty great! I came here twice, once for a sales & marketing meeting and again for the Memphis Open. Both times I was very impressed with the lovely décor and friendly staff. I look forward to my next visit and hope to check out the shop and restaurant.

A private tennis club that holds an ATP250 event that draws a few top 10 players. I have attended the last three and this year it has improved again. The food/lounge area was much more professional and organized. They have Pronto puffs, bbq nachos, fries, salads, sandwiches and a full bar. The beer menu is a bit limited, but serves well for the crowd they serve and number of visitors. The food is fine, but you go to the club to play tennis, watch the pro tourney or the Memphis tigers play. This club has very nice indoor courts and outdoor clay and hardcourts. There is also a nice weight room and swimming pool.

Ate here during the tennis tournament, and was a bit disappointed in the menu. Hopefully it is more extensive during the other times of the year when the general public is not hitting up the restaurant before watching professionals hit tennis balls at 140 miles per hour. I had a chicken Caesar wrap, which is pretty hard to mess up, but the Racquet Club managed to do so. The chicken was very dry, and the wrap was a bit tough in places. Seeing from others’ tables that the fries were crinkly fries, I gave them a shot, and I can solidly confirm the fries are straight out of the Sysco bag into the frier. My wife got a loaded baked potato, which she said was really good. But if you mess up a baked potato, you should be forced to close your doors. The beer was flat, and the wine list was beyond awful(they offered during the time I was there ONE brand of wine in 4 varieties). It was some terrible brand, like Sutter Home or something similarly disgusting. Gotta admit, I expected better.

Great facility for watching tennis. Stopped by for the ATP Regions Morgan Keegan Championships and was no more than 25ft away from Andy Roddick in the bleacher seats. Did not have a chance to enjoy all the offerings but the restaurant/bar, pro shop and tennis facilities all looked immaculate as you can imagine a private club would be.

The menu is pretty run-of-the-mill: burger, fish sandwich, salad, etc. I got the chicken pesto pasta. The problem was, there was no pesto in it. It was basically chicken alfredo. It tasted very similar to a boxed Pasta Alfredo kit you by from the corner Walgreens. This is not to say it tasted horrible, but it was very average at best. The drinks are delicious, and the service was friendly. The food, however, was nothing to talk about.

A members only place, so here is where you much after you chase some fuzzy balls around the court. Pretty good grub, sometimes in a buffet style. Every night seems to have a different theme(aka German. Catfish… etc.) But they pretty much will make you anything you want, I actually like it better for lunch than dinner. Try the Club sandwich, my personal fav. Service is usually always amazing, sometimes you even get some music via an accordion player.
