Mitchener Kathy DVM

I wish there was a way on Unilocal to give a special gold star for being truly extraordinary. If there were, and if I only had one, I would give it to Dr. Mitchener.
Recently my boyfriends dog suddenly became ill and he needed to be put to sleep. After several recommendations from close friends, we reached out to Dr. Mitchener’s office. It was clear on that day that her schedule was packed. Despite this, she promised to make time for my boyfriend and his dog. During the visit she was very attentive as though she had nothing else on her agenda. Really being present and not pressuring any decisions or rushing anyone. When the decision was made to put the dog to sleep, the experience was so intimate and personal. Having to do this with a pet is never pretty, however when the experience is personalized and made sacred, it allows a pets passing to be much like that of a family member. This means soooo much to those of us who look at our pets as really our fur babies. While saying goodbye to the dog, her office staff never rushed the family. When it was finalized, a little paw print was taken in clay as a way to remember the pet.
I know this review will never express to this doctor our gratitude, but honestly she made a difference in our lives that day. When we look back on this loss, it is some how less painful because of the care and time this doctor invested in the process. Genuine human care and passion for the relationship between human and pet. I would recommend anyone take their pet here and we are now life time fans of Dr. Mitchener.
It should be noted that this awesome vet also does amazing services for pets with cancer and also offers acupuncture for pets!
