This may not be the largest liquor store in town, but it is nice(read: clean/fairly new) and has what you need! In-and-out with plenty of parking is the way I like it. This review is just like my experience every time I pop by here… short and sweet.

I came here to find a nice bottle of white to bring to a spring brunch. Specifically, I was looking for a gewurztraminer, but was prepared to walk out with a riesling if necessary. Gewurtz is not exactly a super-popular wine, but I always like to look for it. Anyway, I looked around for a little bit, while the employees helped other customers. It wasn’t too busy, but shopping for alcohol is often a 1-on-1 venture. Coming to a spirits shop like this one, you expect the employees to give personalized advice– and they were. I picked out a riesling and went to the counter. «You don’t have a gewurztraminer by any chance, do you?» The fellow behind the counter showed me to the one variety they had in the store. Yay! I’ll go back for sure. Maybe to get another bottle of the same wine(since it was a host gift, I didn’t get to taste it!)…

On a recent trip back to Memphis we happened to stop by Midtown Wine & Spirits on a whim simply because it was so darn convenient, being right on Poplar! Well, I am glad we did because this place is pretty neat! I fancy myself a wino(I love me some wine) but I am not incredibly knowledgeable on what the best wines are; the guy working knew his wines, and all other alcohol, as well, and made some great recommendations. He spent time giving us different options to try and if I lived in town still I would definitely keep going back to try more and more of his suggestions. I am only sad I just discovered this place AFTER I moved and not while I lived in Memphis!
