So much fun! This was my first year to attend but it definitely won’t be my last! There are great vendors, the parade was a blast to watch, and I loved loved loved the live music! Another bonus? Plenty of food options

For me, my Saturdays involve getting off of work, finding dinner, and maybe drink like a sailor. I then sleep in, and usually don’t leave the house until about 4−5pm. I know, what a waste of a day! Last Saturday, believe it or not, I woke up before noon, and I was even motivated to leave the house! I had heard that there was a Mid-South Pride festival going on Downtown which I thought was pretty cool. I mean to represent a region and having something like that in your city is pretty cool(I mean, they have an Atlanta Pride, but its called Atlanta Pride, not Southeast Pride). I had no idea what was in store, as I have never been to an event like this sober. The weather got crappy as I was on my way, but you know what, who gave a flyin flip! I don’t even remember what time I got there, but when I did, it looked like the parade was going on(which had numerous streets blocked downtown for it). Everyone was dressed for the occasion, to say the least– and very colorful wardrobes. I assume my grey shirt, black pants and black hat didn’t really fit the occasion but oh well– it was all good! The parade ended into an area at 4th St and Beale, the back side of the FedEx Forum. There is a large grass area where the actual festival was being held. They had a bunch of different vendors and tents(including the Unilocal tent!), blow up airhoppythingys, and food trucks as well. When I first got there, I walked up and down the 4 – 5 aisles to see what everyone had to offer. The stuff looked interesting, I stopped by a few vendors! But unfortunately I did not buy anything. I then noticed there were people selling beer, and there was also a stage that played decent live music. It seemed like everyone was having a great time, even with the rain. Hell, 5 feet behind I heard a bunch of cheering and then I saw a man on his knees. It looked like he just engaged to a man and I guess the cheers meant«yes». Right on! After that, the sun began to come out, and I was glad I wore shorts because hell it got humid! And I am a vampire, so yea, I had to keep finding shade to prevent sunburn. The event was free to attend, got to see great people and meet new ones as well, I got to see a lot things I don’t see on a daily basis, and I had had to pay $ 7 for parking which was 2 blocks away. It was much better than lying around the house with nothing to do, will definitely have to check it out again! Cheers to the community that put on a great event!
