Definitely very caring and knowledgeable doctors. The wait times drive me crazy! The time you spend waiting on the doctor is very long. The care is excellent. One of the doctors met me at. 11:00 pm on an emergency call one night ! The office process is very poorly run. The idea that I am to sit for hours to get my eyes checked is making me consider going elsewhere. How do rate the doctors a five and the process a one?

Keep an eye on your RX and demand a complete prescription. I wish I could write a five star review for Meca, because the opthalmologist, Dr. Wright, was attentive and genuinely interested in my eyes. He requested a procedure that wasn’t covered under BCBS, but I felt like it was a necessary expense because he said it was and he’s the MD. Additionally, and I cannot stress this enough, he took the time to go over what he was doing, what he was seeing with my eyes, and what was good and bad with them. He absolutely provided attentive care. Unfortunately, the wheels fell off when I left his office. As per usual, I was pointed in the direction of their glasses shop where I could pick out my frames and lenses at a considerable markup from competitors. I opted not to take that route. Rather, I asked for a printed copy of my RX so I could shop at my leisure. In order for glasses vendors to fill your prescription, they need the PD or pupillary distance. Without the PD, your glasses prescription is pretty much worthless. There are tools online for obtaining a PD, but it’s a crap shoot to see if you get it right. So, I stopped by Meca to get my PD. Long and short– if you want your PD from Meca, you better buy your glasses from Meca. According to the nurse who came out to visit me, they«don’t have the equipment to make that kind of measurement». A medical center, that specializes in eyes, stood firm that they just didn’t have the equipment or expertise to provide a simple pupillary distance measurement. She stood firm in that answer and wouldn’t budge. Of course, if you bought your glasses there, the optometry shop would determine your PD straightaway. But the eye and laser center? No way they’d have the equipment or the talent to pull it off. It’s a shame, because I really liked Dr. Wright. I’ll shop elsewhere, however, because his staff is less than genuine at best and dishonest at worst.
