Kwik Shop Grill

Very good gyro, not the best but decent. I liked their extra seasoning and the fries. The set up reminds me of an older sandwich shop, like a bodega almost, but the food portion with a bit of the odds and ends for sale like a bodega. It was nice enough, can’t say I would go out my way but if I was in the area I would stop. I’m kinda spoiled having lived in NYC and Dallas, I was not blown away it was respectable

I went in on a time crunch and I there were people ahead of me… Still managed to get my food in a short amount of time. I ordered a philly cheese steak combo and honestly, that was some good grub. I wouldn’t go to sit down or anything, but for some good lunch or hangover grub… Yes.

I really wanted to go as I love the Kwik Chek on Madison and this place is frequently confused with it due to its name. It is right next to Cooper Young and a lot of people from CY rave about this shop. I had the chicken pita and it was really good. I got it as a combo with fries and they also were good. I always notice that dive places like this seem to have better than average food.

Nothing quite like some cheap, delicious gas station food.
I realize that probably sounded sarcastic, but I really like this place. For real!
I’ve probably stopped here a dozen times on beer runs, but I’d never tried the food until today. I had an amazing beef and lamb gyro. They made it quickly and it was super fresh. Plus, I got it with a drink and fries for next to nothing.
Stop by when you’re in a rush. You won’t be disappointed!

Best falafel in town, when they have them. People always think I mean Kwik Check on Madison, but their falafel doesn’t come close to how good this one is. Perfectly crispy with a soft pita, lettuce and tomato and some awesome cucumber sauce. The only downside is that they run out of the falafel sometimes and I have to get the veggie burger, which is pretty good but not amazing. I would recommend the spicy fries over the regular fries, they seem skinnier, crispier, and more flavorful. The only reason I give this 4-​stars instead of 5 is because they tend of run out of the falafel pretty regularly.

Every time I’m in Memphis this is my one must stop.
Chicken pita, wing’s and the anges burger the best I’ve had.

This place is the bomb! The boyfriend loves the wings here, so we came for lunch on Sunday. The chicken pita was SO GOOD. Grilled chicken, lettuce, tomato, and onion all wrapped up in a warm pita and drenched in ranch. Yum. I could’ve easily eaten two of those…
Two minor issues kept it from five stars. First, I had actually asked for honey mustard on my pita. The ranch was amazing, so I’m not really unhappy about that, but I gotta ding them for not actually giving me what I ordered. And second, we waited about 20 – 25 minutes for our food. The boyfriend reported that the guy helping the owner seemed pretty incompetent (putting the wrong food in takeout boxes, that kind of thing), but come on.
Other than that, I’m a fan! This is a great place for a cheap, tasty meal.

Had the black angus burger (give it a 3.5 star rating (nothing special about it)) and the highly touted chicken pita (give it a 5 star rating (delicious flavor)). Wow, I had no idea I have been living this close to such a healthy little snack. I have found my new quick appetite suppressor.
And if you dare try to sneak a free fountain drink be prepared to get cussed out by the owner (witnessed this in person as another patron tried to sneak a free drink) and love the place even more now. Mad props owner dude. Nobody steals from the man not even the watered down lemonade.

I’ve loved this place for years, and now I can share the joy through Unilocal with folks like you! I have had their excellent Black Angus burgers are good, but pale beside the fresh-​shaven Gyros. Always been served my food with a smile and genuine cheer.

Best Chicken Pita EVERRRRR! Get it with honey mustard, so good! Outside appearance of the store seems sketchy, but they’re very nice inside. Oh, and don’t forget the baklava!

My husband randomly brought home Kwik Shop for dinner the other night. I’d never had any inkling to try this place, never really gave it a second look when I passed it. I’m surprised I haven’t heard more about this spot. The chicken pita I had was kick ass! The chicken was juicy and really well seasoned. My husband had the gyro, which was also pretty amazing. The only complaint is it was more like gyro chunks than thin slices. There’s something off putting about gyro chunks. Really, really off putting.
I’m still confused as to what happened, but my husband ordered falafel and they ran out so they exchanged it out for a turkey burger? Oh so very random, but the randomness was welcomed cuz that turkey burger was ridiculous. I reheated it for lunch the following day and wasn’t expecting much. I can’t imagine how good it would have been fresh. Another reviewer mentioned the lackluster french fries, and I totally agree. They were standard, generic and soggy.
I’m looking forward to trying other menu items here. I’m thinking I’m going to have to follow Robin’s advice and get the veggie burger!

I looked up Kwik Shop and wondered, why does this place have 4 stars? Then I thought about it for a minute and decided that was about right.
As mentioned before, there is Mediterranean food on the menu (falafel, gyros, etc) and classic grill food, hamburgers, hotwings, fries…
We were here for the hamburger. I had the ½ pound Black Angus, and my lunch mate had the double ²⁄₃ pound burger. Both were delicious. The burger is cooked medium/​medium well but remains juicy. The buns are toasted on the flat top so they’re crunchy and soft. They were served with mustard, pickle, tomato (e), lettuce, and white onion. They we’re amazing lunch burgers. Juicy, flavorful, with a loved bun.
Only complaint would be about the fries. Typical food service fries, not too thick, not too thin, not too flavorful. Need to be cooked about 1 minute longer in order to reach crispy on the outside, soft on the inside perfection.
Hey, but for 6.50 for a burger, fries, and drink, who can really complain?

Great food as well as fast and inexpensive. I would give five stars, but as previous reviewers have noted, it’s sometimes hard to get into and out of the parking lot. It’s not fine dining, so if you expect cloth napkins and pristine tables and chairs, you’ll have to go elsewhere. However, if you want a great gyro or a fantastic burger, check out the kwik shop.

This place serves some great grilled food — I personally love the gyros — haven’t tried the wings yet but I really want to. And the fries are pretty good too. The burgers, likewise, are delicious — much better than I expected from a Kwik Shop.
As others have mentioned, this place has a very cramped parking lot, and it’s not always that easy to access given its location at a very busy intersection. I try to order ahead when I eat here — the food is too good to pass up.

Had the lamb gyro, which was delicious! The steak fries were great too. I’ve heard the burgers here are a ‘must try’ so that’s next on my list the next time I visit.

Best Hot Wings in town! And I am VERY picky about my hot wings. They toss their wings WITH the carrots, celery and cucumbers in the spicy sauce and serve with 2 white rolls. The Suicide are the best but they are HOT!

I used to love Kwik check when I live down the street from them about five years ago. Unfortunately things have changed. The last time I went there, the sandwiches I bought were so soaked with some creamy sauce that they were inedible-​completely soggy and falling apart. It is the same sauce that I remembered and loved but the sandwiches were totally drenched. I do not know if it is the new girl they had making the stuff or what but it will be some time before I give them another chance. Its too bad because it is hard to find a decent cheap vegetarian sandwich in Memphis.

There’s an art to the good, cheap lunch. This is one of those places.
In an innocuous looking ‘Kwik Shop’ (no, Apoo doesn’t work here)
you’ll find fresh gyros (lamb & beef), grilled chicken pita and lean and mean black angus burgers. The also have Garden Burgers and Hot Wings.
The grill is open 10AM to 10PM, Monday to Saturday.
