This is an update to the last review of humdingers that was so troublesome to me. This time around was a completely different experience. I am happy to report that not only was the staff accommodating and helpful, the food was excellent. We started off our meal with buffalo wings which were delicious and big. We followed that with an assortment of dishes: fish tacos, the fish and chips, and we even tried the half chicken. All were excellent. You do need to remember that everything is cooked fresh so it doesn’t come out immediately but it also does not take too long. As we all know everyone can have an off night and my previous review was just that. My family looks forward to many more dinners here and I recommend you do the same!

Got take out here, pretty disappointed. Saw great reviews, tasty sounding sides, lots of lean proteins. Breadsticks were pretty good. Some tasty spice on top and nice in the remoulade. That’s the height of the meal. :( Entrees: First off the portions are just pitiful. Two crab cakes much smaller than my palm with inch thick breading. Sorry but this sucks. Piri chicken is a thin grilled breast, nothing to leave home for. Sauce is solid. Topping: Crawfish are a cheap ass bottom feeder but I paid 1.25 for the topping anyway. Your cakes don’t even come topped — instead you get a tiny tub with two pieces of crawfish, maybe a quarter ounce of craw at best. Sides: The rice obviously came from a box because we had this last night and it was identical. I enjoyed the sweet potato rounds but no way could this make up for the cakes. The Greek salad was standard. Fresh lettuce. I won’t be going back. I’m a small dude at a buck sixty and I wasn’t even remotely satisfied. HARDPASS for sub standard cooking on proteins and miniscule portions.

I’m a big fan of this location. I work in the area a couple of days a week and always try to stop in to eat or take out at least once a week. Consistently great food and a very friendly staff.

I love their Ahi tuna & avocado salad. My husband enjoys the piri piri chicken. Nice décor. Always clean.

I’m from FL, so I’m pretty picky when it comes to fish/seafood & this is one of my favorite places to get fish in Memphis; even over«nicer» restaurants! Fish is always fresh-tasting & the sides are awesome!

Enjoy this place. Food is good and reasonably priced. Love their shrimp and calamari. Was in a few days ago and was sorry to see no more beer or wine is available. Not sure why. Those $ 5 wine nights were great! Had the chowder last time and it was just so-so. Not bad, but not great either. Still expect to continue going there however.

Overrated! The food was ok not the best Like all the reviews say. The kitchen was running behind due to phone orders but from the looks of it everyone was just standing around not doing much. The unsweet tea was sweet and took about 10 minutes to brew. the table behind us hadn’t gotten their food until 20 minutes after we sat down and who knows how long they were sitting there before we got there. Just an overall mess and not that great worth the wait food. The rice was terrible and cold. Won’t be back ever!

Some out the best food in memphis at a reasonable price. The food was extremely fresh and the price is very reasonable compared to other restaurants of this quality in memphis. Even something simple such as the chicken salad has a unique flavor at this restaurant

I am a sucker for good shrimp and grits, but they have to be done right!!! this place has a good handle on them… smooth grits assist in taking the fire out of the spicy sauce(a little too much for my taste) over perfectly grilled shrimp! the only thing missing is the greens!!! In Texas, they make them with a bed of cheesy grits topped with greens and a teepee of grilled shrimped showered in somewhat of a jumbalaya sauce… just sayin’…try adding greens as an option… please? the grilled vegies are amazing and just the perfect balance of soft and crunchy… thanks for a great«home cooked» meal while traveling in Memphis!!!

I liked Humdingers! The food was good, albeit surprisingly spicy, and the prices were great! I’ll definitely be back.

Haven’t been to one in about a year. Went sat and the wife got a salmon plate that was way overcook but the portion size was nice. I got a amberjack sandwich that cost $ 0.50 less($ 11.20) but was less than half the size of her fish. Didn’t cover half the bun. Really disappointed. We paid $ 29 for lunch and I had to get more food afterwards. But not at this place. Won’t return. Used to be great portions and a decent value.

Don’t get the Brussels sprouts. Not only is it an extra $ 1 but they didn’t season it at all. Otherwise this restaurant has good food. However don’t expect enough to fill you up. Service is good. We didn’t have to wait long to get food and my main entrees were tasty. My only complaints are $, portion size and their Brussels sprouts. — 3.5 stars

Date night on Thursdays are amazingggg! App, drinks, entrees, and dessert right at $ 50. I normally order the ahi tuna as my appetizer. The Asian slaw mix it’s served under isn’t bad. The rice, grilled zucchini, corn, and grilled shrimp are my favorite add ons. I tend to order the ahi tuna steak when I come. It’s normally overdone, but it’s still good. My boyfriend loves the amberjack fish.

Food is alright. Nothing I would crave. A friend we were there with mentioned that the portions sizes were much smaller than he is used to and was also disappointed. I had the 3 taco combo($ 11+). I ordered 2 shrimp and 1 chicken and the side I chose was grilled zucchini. I will say the grilled zucchini was pretty dang good. Grilled nicely – moist and juicy but still a nice texture(not mushy at all) — and spicy. The tacos were meh. Hardly any flavor. The asian slaw that came on them was like a dry cabbage. Not much meat on the tacos. I had to douse them in the lemon & herb piri piri sauce at the table and I wasn’t even too crazy about the flavor of that sauce but it was the only piri piri sauce at our table that didn’t burn my mouth. Some of the photos from other meals look yummy so maybe I just need to try something else.

I really liked this place. It was affordable and the food was delicious. I ordered the blackened tilapia, grilled asparagus and sweet potato fries. Great meal! I will definitely be back here.

My husband and I go about every Sunday after church. Excellent food and can’t beat the price. We love having fast food that is made to order and good quality. We have had about everything in the menu and never been displeased. Would like to see them use a local(Memphis) baker for their cakes.

The humdingers shrimp is great, I’m in love with the shrimp skewers, and the ahi tuna is a delicacy to die for. The ambiance is great; suitable for casual dress. The staff is attentive. It’s no Ruth’s Chris, but still tasty. I will be back.

Nothing to complain about. Decent atmosphere, nice interior, good lighting, pleasant service and yummy foods. Simple 5star place for a casual lunch ;-) *My all time favorite is wasabi encrusted ahi tuna.

Love everything but especially the fish tacos and crab cakes. If you are lactose intolerant you can order the Greek salad without Feta. Be sure to change the dressing as it has Feta too. My husband had salmon and red pepper soup. I had crab cakes which are crunchy with panko. The sliced sweet potatoes are awesome and grilled.
