Paul is so nice! He saved my ass today. I have no idea how did I lose my car key. Paul returned my call in 10min and showed up in 40min. He said if my key is inside of car. It will be $ 98 only which surprised me because I have an experience with $ 200. Unfortunately the key was totally lost. So he provide a new replacement key for $ 195. And I want a second backup one with Chip for $ 50. Also I am a member of AAA. So Paul helped me to call AAA for discount. Also he said I can keep the test key with me for free which can open the door but not start the engine. I am so grateful for this. Thanks! I must be in heaven cause the best hot chicken you’ll ever consume is right here. Ive heard the rumors of Gus’s, but until I ate it I never knew what I was missing in life. For lunch time dining be prepared to wait about 45 minutes for a table. But it was totally worth the wait. Now for dinner time if you show up at night things calm down so grabbing a table is easier with very little wait. Frank pulled up a chair and ordered a table full of food to sample everything. Chicken Strips(moist breast meat only) which were my favorite. Breasts & Drumsticks cooked crispy, hot and spiced perfectly as you’d expect. My sides I experienced were baked beans(The Best in Memphis) which were amazing along with Cole slaw & Mac n Cheese. Wasn’t huge fan of Mac n cheese but damn who cares when you have a table full of Gus’s Hot Chicken. If your in the area I’d suggest stopping in for a real southern experience and some down home cooking. You won’t be sorry!

Seriously it says world famous! As in this chicken should be known around the world! And I agree! I have never had a fried chicken so un dried! I mean that chicken was juicy in all of the good ways, as in not a dried chick of meat you need to choke down with some sweet tea. The flavor of the slices… not too spicy by the way… I could eat a plate full of chicken skin ok. Just bring me more chicken!

Gus’s is a really enjoyable lunch stop for good food, nice ambiance, and friendly service. Upon arriving, the wait list may seem long, but if moves very quickly. The chicken is well prepared, tasty, and juicy; however, the missing star in my review echoes what some other reviews have said: compared against the chicken at Hot Hattie B’s in Nashville, Gus’s is a tier below.

In Memphis for two days, part of a southern roadtrip i’m doing(mostly to eat great food), and this was one of the places recommended to me that is a must-eat in Memphis! This did not disappoint. Service was great, chicken was extremely moist, and the seasoning was perfect. Not too spicy, just the right amount of kick. I got the mac and cheese instead of coleslaw, which was also good. I didn’t care too much for the beans though, they were to sweet for my taste. Although someone else may enjoy them that way.

Omg! I just had the best fried chicken in my entire life. I’m contemplating if I should bring a 20 piece box home so I can have it over two weeks. I had the 2 piece dark with beans and Mac. It came with white bread only and no option for wheat bread, but it’s okay because it prob would not have tasted the same with wheat bread. The chicken was just the right amount of spicy combined with the sweetness from the beans and the cheese from the Mac. Delicious! I also had the local brew of ghost river red. Highly recommend that too. You can’t come to town and not try the local brew. Having the pecan pie with ice cream. Will update the review when I am done

Gus’s Chicken was amazing. I feel bad for anyone with a peanut allergy, because they fry all of their food in peanut oil. We started off with a not your fathers root beer vanilla float, and it was fantastic. They get homemade vanilla ice cream, and it was probably some of the best vanilla ice cream I’ve ever had. However I personally do not like the bitterness of the not your father’s root beer, and if I had a choice to do it again I would probably get the regular root beer. But for anyone who likes alcoholic root beer you’ll probably love the float. We then decided to try the Fried green tomatoes, and if you dip them in ranch they are most heavenly experience you can ever have! It was the perfect way to start off our meal. We both got the two piece meal which came with the chicken breast and one wing. I was concerned that it wouldn’t be enough food, but it actually was plenty! If we would’ve gotten more we would’ve over ordered. Both the chicken wing and the breast were perfectly moist and tender white chicken meat that was fried to perfection with little spicy tanginess! Eating that chicken was one of my favorite memories I made in Memphis. I would love to go back.

Gus’s will not disappoint! There are many locations and the one downtown came highly recommended. Evidently there is great diversity of quality. There was a huge line out the door but it only took about 15 minutes to get seated and the service was friendly, if not terribly efficient. Our server seemed a little frazzled but made up for it with witty banter. With tin ceilings it’s really loud inside so be prepared. The chicken was excellent! Slightly spicy, very crispy, dark coating and not greasy. We got chicken and a bunch of sides. My friend got chicken tenders and they were excellent as well. The medium size sides come in 20 oz styrofoam cups so it’s a huge helping for two or a good amount for three or four. Collard greens were amazing! The okra was ok and mac and cheese was pretty good. Everything comes out picnic style with styrofoam plates and plastic forks which isn’t great but does add ambiance. Definitely worth the trip!

Yep, it’s good! And really there is no reason for me to give a long narrative since it’s a pretty simple concept: spicy fried chicken, with a light crunchy batter and decent sides. Never really have had a problem with the crowd or a line. So if you like spicy fried chicken and find yourself in Memphis, Oxford Miss or any of the other places they are now located in, stop on by.

You can’t pass on this place if you’re in Memphis. I’m not huge on fried chicken or anything fried, but this place got me hooked. The chicken breast is surprisingly moist and juicy and it’s hard to get that piece juicy. A little wait is okay with me!

I was heading home from New Orleans to Chicago. Heard this place has really good chicken, not to mention it’s famous. I knew it was a must hit destination. I’m almost speechless. Everything on my plate was delicious and tasted fresh. Fried chicken was definitely the best I’ve had and I’ve had some really good fried chicken before. It was biting into juicy, hot and spicy perfection. The bill wasn’t too expensive and the wait wasn’t long at all.

Alrighty then if ya don’t slap your mama slap somebody. We sampled the wings and they were as expected… delicious! Now we were surprised to see the deuce deuce Heineken, quart Miller Light, and quart Budweiser! Ain’t had those since college days!!! LMAO!!! Now y’all know we been drinking and eating all day all around the Memphis area. We sampling so we can move on to the next spot. Since we been drinking I don’t think we could sense the seasoning right off from first bite, but after ya chew for a few seconds it comes up from behind and gets you! Dat is good son!!! I’m tryna told y’all sum’n but ya ain’t tryna heard me!!! Try this spot!

You gotta love this place. No pretension, it’s just what they do. No fancy plates or silverware, just put the chicken on a plate with white bread under it. Perfect. I did the tenders and three was plenty. Moist and spicy with a side of ranch. I disagree with some of my fellow Unilocal brethren, I loved the slaw and beans. Creamy and nice. Service was quick and friendly. Good value, in and out for $ 12 including tip. They serve beer. You gotta go.

There was a Gus’s Fried Chicken booth at a food festival we stumbled upon in New Orleans last weekend. This was the best fried chicken I’ve ever had! We are hooked. We live in California and have been home a few days now. Neither my husband or myself can stop thinking about how good this chicken is! We have seriously considered taking a trip to Memphis specifically for this chicken! Here’s how obsessed we are. Our return home flight was overbooked and we considered volunteering to stay back so we could get flight vouchers, use them to go to Memphis, go get fried chicken in Memphis, and THEN go home! Lol. I see there will be a Gus’s opening in Los Angeles this year? We will definitely be there!

Great chicken at great prices with fantastic staff! Here’s a protip: if you don’t mind sharing, you can get a family meal and split the check with your party. Just be sure to give your waiter a little extra for the work. And be prepared for a wait! We got here around 2pm on a Sunday and it was nearly an hour before we were seated. But alas, it was worth it! Look at the pile of moist and tender chicken! The sides weren’t bad either! I didn’t think there was anything particularly special about the sides but they were each well done. I would just recommend getting whatever you’re in the mood for!

A little while back I saw an article about the 50 best fried chicken spots in the U.S. and was pretty proud that I frequent the #6 ranked spot(Babe’s in Roanoke, TX). I honestly didn’t think it could get much better than Babe’s, but I was still curious to try out the five joints ranked higher. Gus’s was #1 on that list and although it’s obviously a toss up once you get to the top 5 or so, it definitely deserves to be in the conversation. The fried chicken here is phenomenal in every way. It has a nice crispy breading on the outside, juicy chicken on the inside, and a distinguishing little kick that seals the deal. Even my sister who doesn’t mess with spicy food at all loved the kick in the chicken. They do a great job at balancing the spice to an enjoyable level. I also tried the mac and cheese, which was alright, but nothing special. No matter how good the fried chicken is wherever you live, you absolutely must try Gus’s fried chicken. Trust me, even though it has a reputation for being the best, their tasty chicken will still surprise you(in a good way).

Perfect fried chicken! Hot, crispy, and has a little kick. Plan on waiting a little while to get a seat. I got lucky going here alone, and they seated me immediately. Right after I sat, at least 15 people showed up, and all had to wait 20 minutes or more. I didn’t let this disturb my meal. :) I had a beer, and the 3 piece chicken. The appetizer was the fried okra. At the end I had a slice of their pecan pie. Perfect perfect perfect perfect fried chicken. I want some so bad RIGHTNOW.

Gus has really got it going on. His fried chicken here is nothing short of crack– addicting, tasty, yet doesn’t leave you with(too) much regret. My friend and I were traveling around Memphis and nearly everyone we spoke with recommended Gus’ fried chicken. Luckily, my friend is a huge fan of these tasty winged beasts, so it was a no brainer that we drop by and try some for ourselves. Feeling stuffed from an earlier meal, we ordered one meal which came with two thighs and two drumsticks, along with beans and slaw. To start though, we got a round of fried green tomatoes, and these phenomenal. The batter was not overpowering and we felt slightly healthier after enjoying it as a snack. When the actual chicken came, we were so ready to chow down. The fried chicken here is no joke– it was GREAT! The skin was crispy but not overly oily like other fast food spots. The chicken was very tender so you could tell the quality was up there. I’m telling ya– never have I felt so good about eating fried chicken. At the end, we were convinced to order a hot pecan pie, which was an excellent way to end our delicious meal. You have to get a slice! So when you’re strolling through Memphis, make it a priority to come drop by Gus. I found out they also have a Chicago location, and I’m looking forward to stopping by very soon.

Everything that I’ve heard about this place is 100% true… the food was FAN-tastic, especially the chicken! When you bite into it, it has that crisp texture and spicy taste on the outside. Once you sink your teeth into it, feel free to suck up the moisture and juiciness on the inside. They have a typical beverage selection of soft drinks, tea, and lemonade. They also have a nice beer selection, and you can even get a 40-ounce right in the bottle! Gus’s is a real dive place on the inside, but everybody comes solely for the fried chicken. Cannot stress how friendly the staff was. Friendly, efficient, and affectionate! What more could you ask from your service people? It always seems to be packed, so no matter who you are, you gotta wait your turn in line. There is plenty of free street parking around the restaurant. I ordered a two-piece platter with white meat. It came with coleslaw and baked beans, and I kid you not, I actually shed a tear when the meal was over. If I was in Memphis, this is the first place I would go to without a doubt. If you have just heard about this place, THEHYPEISREALPEOPLE!

One of the best chicken joints in the U.S. hands down. I’m not much about overhyping places, but Gus’s lives up to the hype. The chicken is addictively delicious, and the sides are also noteworthy. My two friends and I shared the 8 piece family meal, which came with baked beans, slaw, and white bread. Also we added a macaroni sides to the mix. Everything under $ 30 is an awesome deal. Beware of the wait, but the constant flow of people coming in and out isn’t too bad. At the end of our Memphis trip, my friends and I definitely made our second trip to Gus’s to give Memphis a proper farewell. I will say… Three hours in the car and one rest stop later, the chicken was still solid. I can’t wait til St. Louis have a Gus’s. I am going to be in trouble.
