Just found out that the current proprietors have extended their lease until Sept. and will reevaluate from there. Turkey sandwich was right on. Beer selection has been dwindling, which is why I didn’t give 5 stars.

WHOA… a club sandwich to end all club sandwiches. A 5 star sandwich, a 2 star place, let’s give it 4. Real sliced smoked turkey breast, smoked ham, bacon, fresh lettuce/tomato, grilled wheat bread… man, sign me up. The place is kind of a dump, which is too bad, because you can have kitsch without being dumpy… but this place falls on the other side of the coin. But, whatever, I’ll be back for another sandwich.

Underwhelming. Had the«Chicago Gyro» and was surprised by how bland it tasted. Meat didn’t have much flavor, flatbread kept falling apart, and there wasn’t anything special to the sauces. For $ 7(with no sides) and then $ 2.00 for a basic drink, this isn’t exactly cheap either. Beer selection? Maybe it’s good for the South Main area, but I was unimpressed. Better selection at Krogers or many other places around town. I also got accosted by a couple of panhandlers while actually within the store. Maybe there’s something I missed, but I don’t think I’d want to return.

What a beer selection!(Even though this comes from the girl who doesn’t drink beer, it really is quite impressive.) Located next door to the Green Beetle on S Main, this little hole in the wall is precious. It’s the type of store you’d find in NYC or LA… not Memphis. Go to the back of the store and order some food because their sandwiches are pretty awesome. I ordered the reuben and it is the best I’ve ever had in Memphis(and I’ve been loyal to the Half Shell one for years). The staff is friendly although there wasn’t a restroom for the public(not sure if that is even legal?). Very quick, yummy place!

my family of 4 went in for lunch and although my chicken panini was disappointing, everyone else’s was great. mine was supposed to come with a cream cheese avocado spread and they ran out but didn’t tell me. it was very dry. i asked for some cilantro lime salad dressing to try to save it, but it just didn’t work. i would definitely give it another shot as the other 3 sandwiches(ham and cheese, pastrami and brisket) were outstanding.

The South Main area has needed this place for years. Someplace to get a sandwich in a pinch, pop in for a soda or a six pack. The sandwiches are surprisingly good, as is the selection of snacks, brewskis, and other bevs.

Frank’s Deli is the most underrated place in Memphis! The Italian Business Man and South Main Club are, what we Hawaiians call, «broke da mouth» good! I had them for lunch for two days in a row before moving out of Memphis. In fact, I drove out of Memphis with an Italian Business Man in my hand, literally. Ummmm…

What a simple, bizarre place to grab a sandie. Some seating inside this neighborhood store. Middle eastern options along with deli favorites. Liked the falafel and hummus and the chicken-like gyros. Check any pretension at the door, just ask what’s good and then go for it! Yumm. Btw, no bathroom there and if u wan to have a beer, sold there, cash and carry, u have to use tables outside

South Main Street’s secret treasure. The sandwich shop is in the back of a convenience store. Who knew? Food is not processed. Delish!

I have to kill the buzz on this place after my experience today. I thought the food was very good, but the guy serving me was unpleasant and charged a phenomenal price for what I ordered. I got a half pound of tuna salad that amounted to about the equivalent of what you get on a sandwich. I also got a side of eggplant and a bottle of water…$ 12. I was dumbfounded but paid and went my merry way. The guy refused to give me a cup of tap water and acted like I was a nuisance when I asked what was in the different side items inside the case. Maybe I just caught them at a bad time — I wouldn’t want to be working early Sunday morning either. I must say the food was outstanding, so I am not going to bust down to two stars even though I thought the service and price were grounds for bringing the score that low.

Frank’s is basically a small South Main convenience store with a deli counter in the back that features a delicious array of sandwiches and middle eastern items. I had the Rueben(to go). This is a big sandwich, heaped with corned beef and kraut and toasted. If you are not ravenously hungry, find someone to split this one with. Dine inside or outside, take out, or get your order delivered by bicycle in the immediate area.

I may or may not have shed a tear when I found out Jon Jon no longer worked here. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the new chef that took his place. This guy can make some mean Mediterranean cuisine! The falafel sandwich is even better than it was before. Falafel is such a finicky dish. It can so easily become over seasoned or dry. This particular falafel is perfection. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and seasoned just enough to make it delicious. If you aren’t a fan of falafel, I suggest the beef shawarma sandwich. The beef has this very faint hint of sweet seasoning to it that makes the whole sandwich. The hummus is to die for as well. Take heart fellow Frank’s lovers, the menu seems to have remained the same. You can still get that killer brisket sandwich, soups in bread bowls and pizzas– though I cannot attest to whether or not they hold a candle to Jon Jon’s versions. In due time.

It had been a long day in Memphis. It was raining. I wanted something downright delicious to eat. It was about 5pm, I was downtown, I didn’t want to break the bank. I wandered into a starbucks off of Beale street to get some wifi and see if I could find any recommendations. After about 5 minutes, I just asked the room where I could get some good food, cheap, that might be something special maybe that I couldn’t get back home) and that I could get to without a car, so on the bus, walking, etc. After a good long debate between some employees, an off-duty cop, a guy still dressed in yesterdays halloween outfit, and a very normal looking local, we determined I should go try a sandwich at Frank’s. I walked down the few blocks into the ordinary looking convenience store to be greeted by a very friendly deli-man. Who made me a roast beef sandwich which they make in store, with the juice on the side. I took it to go, got on the bus and went back to my room. I could barely keep from ripping it open on the bus it smelled so good. 20 minutes later in the communal kitchen, I had five hungry people, mouths watering drooling over my sandwich. It was perfect. The perfect roast beef sandwich, and I could have talked to that deli guy all night.

I’ve only been to Frank’s Deli three or four times, but every time I have been they’ve not failed to impress. The establishment is a small convenient store, but in the back is where the magic happens. They make some of the most delicious pressed sandwiches in town for a very modest amount. I’ve been told most if not all their meats are made on location in the smoker seen on the side street next to Frank’s. Perhaps this is why their sandwiches are always so delicious? In any case, their sandwiches are very good. They have a small dining area suitable for ~4 people, so expect to have your sandwich to go.

I just discovered Frank’s a few months ago. I loved it so much that I had it almost everyday for weeks. Needless to say, I gained a few pounds but oh, was it worth it. Frank’s has some of the absolute best sandwiches I’ve ever had– simply mouthwatering. They smoke their meats, and you can smell that heavenly scent all the way down the street. The portions are huge– grown men can’t even eat a whole sandwich! I can, but that’s beside the point. The club is my favorite. The menu is pretty extensive, and they offer more healthy fare(i.e., wraps, salads) but I haven’t been able to tear myself away from the club sandwiches just yet. I ordered a variety of sandwiches for a work lunch meeting, and everyone loved them. The store itself is also a small grocery, and probably comes in handy for South Main residents and businesses.

As a grocery, it has the basic stuff, but the deli is awesome! The best sandwich not listed on the menu: the club :) try it! Oh, and if you live or work downtown, they can deliver orders($ 20 and up).

A nice corner deli that has all of the basics — small, random grocery items if you need them, a large selection of chilled beer and pop(Northern native here), and the usual candy. You can get your ice from the big ice machine outside, and order a sandwich or wrap while you’re there. Bonus — they deliver if you’re within reasonable biking distance.

The 1st reviewer said it all. It is a very convenient store… haaa. I had the falafel and the bf had the club. His sandwich was huge! Mine was a wrap and it was pretty yummy. The club had a lot of meat on it, which I don’t love, but most men do. Their orzo pasta salad seem to have balsamic vinegar Dijon mustard carrots and mushrooms, it was sour tart and sweet at the same time, very different but very yummy! Ask for a taste. Oh and if you live dtownish you can walk here, depending on exactly where you live of course. Oh and they sell all sorts of beer here.

Frank’s Deli is right next to the Green Beetle on South Main. It’s a convenience store more than a restaurant. There are two aisles, both lined with refrigerated cases full of beer and cold drinks. They carry some grocery items, snacks, a few odds and ends(aluminum foil, dish detergent), and the usual convenience store cigarettes, candy and newspapers. You can’t see it when you walk in the door, but you can smell the magic happening at the deli counter in the back of the shop. The menu is mostly sandwiches, salads, and wraps, side dishes(coleslaw, hummus), and desserts(the carrot cake in the case looked amazing). Yesterday, the specials were a beef brisket sandwich and something called«Shawama», which, based on the ingredients, was supposed to be shawarma. You can eat in, take your food with you, or have it delivered to you by bicycle. After eating my turkey sandwich, I’m not sure why I waited so long. It was delicious — a mound of fresh deli turkey, smothered in cheese, topped with lettuce, tomato, mayo, and black pepper. I paired it with a bag of chips and a bottle of cane sugar root beer.
