Extra Space Storage

Called extra space spoke with Teresa. She advised me they would be closing at 6:00. Came she was very pleasant and informative. Thank you for good Customer Service.

First I am pleased with the price, although it is not the lowest in the market. I am very pleased with the apparent security since the facility is bounded by Nonconnah Creek on one side and the Mt. Moriah Police Precinct is on the same side of Mt. Moriah as the facility less than ¼ mile away. A police charity has a secure facility right next door.
But I am most distressed at the deceitful marketing on the web and via email.
At no time until my arrival on the day of move in did any facility personnel tell me that there is a $ 22 «administrative» fee charged for «filing out the rental paperwork» or that the facility requires proof of insurance coverage on the contents stored. This failure is particularly irksome since I made a tour of the facility and specifically asked what I needed to provide at time of rental. Absolutely no mention of the two items above was made. Neither was any mention made in the email sent to confirm reservation. I find that to be a deceptive business practice.
Finally, there is what appears to be roof repairs being made across all of the storage units. That probably is a good thing. But at no point did rental personnel explain the presence of the apparent roofing materials on top of well more than 80% of the particular storage building in which our property is stored. I did not make a specific inquiry because our unit appeared to be secure from roof leakage and because I already had a very unpleasant experience regarding the problems outline above.
I would have chosen a different facility because of the deception if I had had a good alternative. As it was, I had a moving crew and a 26-​foot truck that had to be released to Uhaul and no time to make an alternative choice. I assume that’s why Extra Space Storage did not reveal the other «requirements» until I was effectively locked in.
I am most unhappy with the ethics displayed by the company.
