Overall, I loved the staff at Dermon-Warner. The main office manger is very nice and the handymen are the BESTEVER. I lived for three years in the same townhouse and any time I had a problem – electricity out, clogged drain, frozen pipes – the handyman was there within two hours and the problem was fixed the same day. The rent was never raised the entire time that I lived there, and the management was willing to do short-term or long-term leases according to my needs. The house was located near Poplar and Highland, so it was within walking distance of Poplar Plaza and U of M. The price was unbeatable for the location and was perfect for grad students. The house hadn’t had any cosmetic changes since probably the late 70’s, but it was kept up nicely… Though being that it was near the Galloway golf course mansions, it was easily the worst house in the neighborhood, but nice enough.(Bonus, the private security for the mansions was always around… Sure, they looked at me funny, but no one was breaking into my crib!) The gardening guys were great, always did an excellent job, and were very friendly. The house was poorly insulated for the winter months, but that seemed to be the trend in Memphis. I would have stayed with Dermon-Warner in the same house had I not graduated and moved out of the city.
