Cheddar’s is the definition of Southern Americana. The food is the most American food you will ever get outside of the hot dog carts in New York City. It is the very definition of everything other countries think is wrong with us and causing obesity, and it is AWESOME. The portions at Cheddars are straight up ridiculous. Like, just don’t bother eating for the three days prior to coming here because they’ll easily give you enough food to cover for it. I have never seen so much food on single plates before. It’s like they took their inspiration for every plate in the house from Man vs Food. The food is also very good, typically. As someone who once worked for Cheddars, I can tell you straight up not to order the chicken fried steak, but anything with chicken tenders is going to be amazing. They bread and fry those things by hand in the back. I also highly recommend the southwestern spinach dip – best use of spinach I have ever seen by far. If you order the pecan chicken salad, ask for the honey lime dressing. They will not offer this, but it will change your life. They will not offer you dessert because the restaurant is basically not even profiting off of dessert, but if you order it, it will cost next to nothing and be bigger than your head. A slice of apple pie here is literally a fourth of an entire pie, and comes with ice cream, and cost something like $ 5. As a matter of fact, everything here is pretty insanely cheap. Which brings me to my next important point: Please tip the hell out of your server. The prices at this restaurant may be like fast food, but like all other establishments of this nature in Tennessee, these servers are working for $ 2.13 an hour and trying to pay their rent. The standards here are much higher than at most other restaurants and it is a legitimately very hard and tiring job. Even if your meal only cost you $ 5, what an awesome opportunity to use that extra dough you saved to be generous to someone who I can personally vouch for needing it. Even with a very generous 25% tip, chances are, you’re still saving money by coming here – especially once you see the portions. TLDR: 1. Order something with fried chicken tenders. You will not be sorry. 2. Be prepared to eat until you hate yourself. 3. Tip very generously. Most people who come in here don’t, and it’s a shame because the people who work here are very deserving of every hard earned dollar they make.

If I could rate this zero stars I would. I’m in Memphis for the holidays and my family and I decided to go here because back home we love this place. Straight to the point now… we walked in and sat in the lobby for about 20 mins and the place was nearly EMPTY. A few feet from where we were waiting there was a empty booth but it was dirty. It remained there even after we we called to come sit. Ok we sat at our table and we NEVER got waited on. We saw at least 3 people go by. So finally I told my fiancé LETSGO! We got up and left! Never will I ever go back to this location. The worst ever!

So my boyfriend and I decided to try cheddars for the first time. He arrived at 7:36pm and I followed shortly afterwards. We sat in a bar booth which was nice. Sadly this is whew it ends. Our waitress took ten min to greet us, appetizer came out before waters, my boyfriends Jameson on the rocks was Jameson and water by the time it got to him. I spoke to management, introduced myself but he did not give a name. The manager looked confused as I was talking to him, he attempted to correct the issue by taking our order, my food was wrong ! I ordered the lisp salmon and got the baja chicken, waters were never filled and manager did nothing! I WILLNEVERCOMEBACK, in fact I’m still sitting here waiting for my damn check oh yea and three other. Tables are having the same problem! One just walked our without paying!

We love the Cheddars chain and had good experiences elsewhere but had a terrible experience today. We went around 11am, trying to beat the crowd, and was told there was a 15 minute wait for an nearly empty restaurant. We sat in the lobby of the empty restaurant as people came in and left when they told them there was a wait. We were seated and got drinks-which were flat even after asking for a replacement. We ordered and they brought out 3 of the 4 dishes and told my husbands they didn’t have any monte cristos. He reordered pasta and got it as we were finishing. His bread was burnt. Hoping this was a fluke but it was all around one thing after another leading to a very bad experience.

Food great. No toilet paper or paper towels in the bathroom. They forgot my daughters meal. We sat and watched our food get cold waiting. When my food arrived I was told no baked potatoes. Then they ran out of tea. I finally told them to bring water.

When you eat at Cheddar’s, there are several things you should expect — long lines, loud voices and not much diversity in the clientele or servers. It is Memphis after all.

GREATVALUE! The food is good(tilapia, chicken sandwich, steak, chicken tenders, etc.) and they give you a lot of food for the price they charge. We are typically taking home leftovers and most meals are under $ 10.

This is a typical chain restaurant but I’m giving 4 stars because the staff was so nice last night! There are quite a few restaurants very nearby and the service at most of the chains is generally lacking. But as soon as I opened the door I received big smiles and friendly greetings from the staff. Our server was pleasant and attentive. We stayed longer than usual as I was catching up with a friend I hadn’t seen in awhile. The server continued to check in but good way. I would recommend a visit just based on the friendly staff. A real standout in the Winchester Road area.

I frequent the Cheddar’s chain whenever I get the chance; however, I had the worst experience at this particular restaurant. First, my dinner guests and I had to wait an unreasonable amount of time just to be seated. After ordering appetizers, 45 minutes had passed, and the waitress returned claiming she had got into a verbal altercation with the cook; apparently, the cook produced a poorly created dish and she had refused to give it to us. We resolved ourselves to then order just entrees – this was perhaps the most underwhelming moment of the entire experience. After our dishes arrived, I was immediately disappointed with the taste, texture, and presentation. Clearly the dishes were not fresh and, in particular, my grilled salmon had the composition of beef jerky. Needless to say, 2 of the 4 dining patrons, myself included, promptly returned our dishes. I will not be returning to this Cheddar’s. Ever.

This is one of our favorite restaurants. However on this trip there. We had to wait for about 20 mins to be seated. No big deal. Then we got to our table, and our server never came. We sat for 15 minutes. Nobody asked us if we’ve been helped, employees passed us at made eye contact with us and kept walking. So we grabbed a server and asked for a manager. That took 15 more minutes with still no manager in sight. So we got up to leave and notice the manager in the bar. We had to wait to speak to him then. We were also told there was 4 managers on the floor. Service was awful and we will now take our business to the Germantown location.

I remember when this place first opened! Even though the wait would be for almost 2 hours and the service being not so great I still would come about once a week. The food is really good! I love good food! I guess everybody has had there fair share, because the wait isn’t long anymore. I keep here the other night for a business meeting. The service was better than normal, but could have been better. The waiter would forget about us from time to time, but he also would apologize so not bad. I ordered my usual… Bourbon glazed salmon with the broccoli cheese casserole(to die for) and buttered corn. I am one of those people that find something they like and stick with it… but don’t get me wrong I am opened to other things. I also tasted the spinach dip for the first time… I got two words for it JAWDROPPER! The food gets 4 stars!

My cousin and I were out shopping and decided to do lunch here. We were seated right away but our waiter had to clean off out table. The food was good the waiter was great but before they started seating guest they should’ve cleaned first.

This was my first time coming here. It was ok. My texas cheese fries was the best thing i ordered everythingelse was ok my burger was burned. My food was very bland. I won’t be coming back. Run away from this place they need a chef & the waitress i had was very rude she was only trying to rush me so she could see if i left her a tip… the only reason they’re getting 3 stars is because of my fries…

Did this Cheddar’s undergo a management change or something? My last experience here was immensely better than visits of the past, which had gotten so bad in service that I was reluctant to come back and only did so because my girlfriend was craving this place. We were greeted in a friendly manner by the hostess and promptly seated, and were immediately greeted by our server. He was exceptionally friendly and attentive throughout the meal, which is a huge departure from the treatment we received in the past. The food came out quickly and accurately, and everything was fantastic. The food was already a great value here, and this visit has me hoping that the service has changed for the better for good; I’ll be back in the near future.

Ok, I hope that the readers dont think I have a personal vendetta on this review toward Cheddars but this place to me is horrible. It is extremely overrated and I will never visit this place again. If I could give this place a negative star rating I would but for the sake of rating, I will give them 1-star(and that is being nice). Let me start off by saying, I’ve been to Cheddars at least 3 times. Each time I’ve gone, I walked out feeling cheated and hungry. The waiters and service here is bad. It took them forever to bring my food out each time that I visited. When I say long, it took at least 40 minutes each time. The first visit it took them over 50 minutes to bring out chicken tenders and there were only 5 in my party. The food was below average. The first time I went I had chicken tenders and it tasted like fast food, dry, no flavor tenders. The fries were just ok. The second time I visited I had fish with rice. The rice was very dry, the fish had little to no seasoning and tasted bland, and the broccoli was very cold. The last visit absolutely did it for me. The chicken alfredo pasta with broccoli was disgusting. The pasta was luke warm with what looked like a «glob» of old cheese used on the alfredo. On my last visit, I was treated to the meal so I didn’t pay. I wouldn’t want anyone to pay for a meal like this and I wanted them to get their money back. Even if someone is treating, I will never go back here.

I’m really surprised by all the negative reviews on here. It’s a casual restaurant folks, that’s even in the name. This is a great place to go when you’re hungry and don’t want to spend a fortune, two can easily eat with tax and tip for $ 30. The food is good, nothing special but good. I almost always get the chicken tenders and shrimp but have on occasion gotten the chicken Alfredo. For the price point the ambience is very nice. Expect a wait, it’s popular, but the food comes out fast once your order. There have been service issues but I’ve noticed a trend that its limited to seating in the bar area so specify you don’t want there. But they have also had issues with a lot of customers not tipping so perhaps the servers got in a mindset of not caring. I think too many people complained about the automatic gratuity so they removed it but come on y’all, you need to tip — not doing so is TACKY! If for some reason you feel you server does not deserve a tip then it should be an issue worthy of discussing with the manager. We went once and were about to leave after 10 minutes no one took our drink order but the manager reseated us and made it right. Our reseated server got an excellent tip from us. Seriously, if you aren’t going to tip keep you cheap ass at home so this place is more enjoyable for the rest of us.

Cheddars has taken the low-cost casual sit-down chain to it’s logical conclusion, and their excellent job of doing so is why I will never be back. The menu is full of cheap options, and the portions are quite generous. However they also seem to be full of factory-made, heat and eat food, coupled with poor service and the art of the up-sell. It’s everything the low cost casual sit-down chains want to be executed so perfectly as to suck the soul out of a restaurant. The menu is constructed to make things look like a value. For instance, all the entrees come with a side, but the burgers do not. This allows them to offer a burger for under $ 5 with sit down service, and then up sell you $ 2 worth of fries or mashed potatoes. It may still seem like a bargain at $ 7, until you wash it down with one of the many $ 7-$ 9 margaritas they are peddling to make up the difference. Closer inspection shows many extremely cheap, but overpriced appetizers and drinks, more so than I think I’ve seen in any of their competitors. Service was poor, even with servers all over the place. I saw no management of any kind visible on the floor during our entire meal. I don’t think our waitress checked on us once, we had to ask for drink refills and twice to get a check. But all that’s a side show. What really matters at any restaurant is the food! My wife’s salad showed the tell tale signs of one that came in a bag and was one day older than it should have been, but not yet bad. Not fresh, but not quite wilted. The Pot-Pie we tried came out in under 4 minutes and was not warm at all. Clearly pre baked and left on a warmer. It reminded us of an overly bland frozen pot pie from the grocery store, and I’d bet $ 5 it was factory made and heated in a batch at the store. We also tried the Monte-Cristo, which is a sandwich I absolutely love but also know many people get very, very wrong in some way. It’s a great sandwich to use to judge a place. The menu offered a clue, the sandwich had«two cheeses». Have you ever seen a place that didn’t tell you what kind of cheese? It became clear when it came out. A slice of white and yellow american that tasted vaguely like the kraft singles variety were the«cheeses». Both tasted exactly the same, doing nothing for the flavor profile. The sandwich was over breaded, and the breading itself was sweet! Most importantly, the turkey and ham inside weren’t even remotely hot, the center was in fact still ice box cold. The fries I ordered with it were served in a gigantic heaping mound, enough for two plates, but were totally ordinary and unseasoned. One of the other reviewers called it an «upscale fast food joint», and I think that’s hitting near the mark. However, fast food places still do compete on the quality of their food(at least with their premium menu items), and I feel like Chedders has given up on that idea completely in order to put those few pennies to «table service». There is fast food that is better than Cheddars, and if you want a proper sit down meal there are far better options for only $ 2-$ 4 a plate more near by. I just don’t see the point, but if you want sit down at the absolute rock bottom place they’ve managed to deliver that in spades.
