Had a great dinner. Roland was our host and server. He was very friendly and engaging. He guided through the menu, offered suggestions to improve our meal, and made our visit very enjoyable.

I have witnessed staff/security and owners being incredibly derogatory and disrespectful towards women that do not«flirt» back with them.(This was during late night hours.)

The pulled chicken sandwich was nothing more than overlooked, tough chicken chunks on a soggy hamburger bun. The service was just as terrible as the food. Do not waste your time, money, or appetite on this place.

Average overpriced food. Think Denny’s with the price tripled. The floors and tables were dirty, not just a little but nasty. This was the only place without a line waiting to get in, and I found out why. Service was slow.

I had a shake for lunch and was really, really hungry. We were heading to a concert at the New Daisy and really needed to get something on our stomachs. So into Alfreds we go. We should have known it wasn’t going to be great when the hostess told us our server would be with us shortly and after 10 – 15 minutes the hostess showed up to BE our server. We were one of two tables, with about 6 or 7 people sitting at the bar… the place was dead. We started our order with two of us getting water, and two getting margaritas. Once the margaritas were delivered, we gave our orders, first the hamburger, then the Alfreds special with ribs and pulled pork for my husband and I to share, then the chicken sandwich. We watched her write everything down, took everything slow because it seemed like she wasn’t used to serving and she seemed to have it down when she read it back to us… but no. The burger and the chicken sandwich came out, with the middle order being so where to be seen. She asks if she’s forgetting anything and we told her yes… our order. So she goes to the back… for 10 minutes. Comes back to say«sorry, what did you order? There are so many orders back there I can’t remember which was yours.» Again… the place was dead, and why did it take 10 minutes to ask that? So… no joke, another 15 minutes goes by. Our friends are done eating and she finally comes back and says«Sorry, somebody took your order, they’re working on it now.» We weren’t happy, but said it was fine and ordered two more margaritas. After 10 more minutes, my husband went to cancel the order and ask for the checks. The checks come and the second margaritas never got put in. We leave the money on the table for our(one) margarita and our friends paid for their food and margarita. It’s then that she walks out and tries to hand us a to-go box. I’ll commend her for trying to get us to take the food, but we couldn’t, as we were going to a concert. The moral of the story here is this… We are incredibly patient people, we understood she was acting like she wasn’t a server so we tried to be nice and patient… but she lied multiple times. If you forget to put in an order(somehow, the one in the middle of the ticket) then just admit it. We would have been gracious and waited, heck we tried to wait it out… but the lies kept coming. «There are orders back there, can’t tell what it is. They’re working on it now. Nevermind, somebody stole it»… no. just no. So we split a bbq plate down the street at Jerry Lee’s for half the price and were in and out in 20 minutes, and that place was packed.

Wife and I attending Beale Street Music Festival, decided to patron Alfred’s. We’ve never eaten here before. Decent looking place, nice menu, they do have live music at night so that’s a plus. We weren’t starving but needed a lunch before hitting the festival. Settled on a pot roast spud and the wife had a veggie spud. The spuds were very tasty. We asked for a little extra butter which really rounded the flavors well. Wife said she couldn’t taste any of the garlic butter listed in the description. The only con I have is that I requested a sample of their pulled pork, that I might know if I’d like to go all out on my next visit. I was told they didn’t do that sort of thing. Quite disappointed. I mean I truly wanted only a simple bite. This will not be my first choice again if only for the denial of the sample. If you sell BBQ and call it famous, you should let folks sample your wares.

The rooftop patio is what drew my family into Alfred’s. It’s a great spot on Beale to soak up some sun and look around. I tried a local brew and it was great. The food was alright. No one complained, but no one raved about it. Overall, I would say this is a great spot for some drinks on the patio.

The food was fantastic and the view was even better. One of us has the whole wings with fries and the other the full rack of baby back ribs. Everything was very fresh. A wonderful experience that I would do again.

So many options on Beale… I am glad we came here. BBQ is the theme with a little bit of creole. We ordered the BBQ nachos and creole shrimp apps to share. We finished neither because there was just too much food. The nachos were amazing. The waitress was very kind and quick. Of note… Smoking is allowed inside. I forget that when leaving Saint Louis people still smoke inside places. I was surprised when the smell started wafting over. This is a Memphis thing and I did not take away a star based on the smoking.

The area is good. Food is good. Service sucked. I came here for the first time with my parents, daughter and fiancé. They all received their food. My mom had to remind our waitress about my chicken tenders. I didn’t get them until they have already almost finished their food. Our waitress didn’t ask how everything was going or even if we wanted refills of our drinks. The only reason they get two stars instead of one is because the food was actually good.

It’s really difficult to make a decision on where to go when on Beale St, but luckily the universe guided me to Alfred’s. I was with my girlfriend and her family, so we needed a place to accommodate nearly 15 people and Alfred’s was able to do so comfortably. There was a band playing some pretty good tunes and they also had a special guest that blew it out of the water. I’m a new fan of Tameka«Big Baby» Goodman. The drinks were reasonably priced and the bartenders were friendly. I would highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Memphis.

We came for a drink and food on a Wednesday evening and easily found a spot on the upper patio. Great outdoor space with a view of Beale street for some people watching. Service was good. Drinks and food came quickly. The ribs were absolutely delicious, as was the cole slaw that came with it. The full slab($ 21 or 22) was too much for one person But great for sharing. The music was good(a dj was playing popular rap/hip hop music) but a bit too loud for where we were sitting.

Our go to place before a Grizz game. Bud beers for 2 bucks every Grizz game. Very good pub grub and friendly staff. Try the crawfish etoufee’ tasty and a bargain for the generous portions. Great sandwiches too. There is usually live music before the game. One of the best spots on Beale street for people watching.

Not sure how this place is as a bar or people watch since we were here at 3 p.m. on a Sunday, but it was pretty low key and friend friendly when we came through. I’m sure that all changes once the sun goes down and bands start hitting the stage. Great place to grab a quick drink and an appetizer before heading to an event at FedEx Forum. Had a few beers($ 2 special two hours before Grizzlies’ games), hot wings and fries on our last visit and everything tasted great. Staff was friendly and helpful. My only gripe was that they were showing a standard definition feed of the NFC playoff game on an HDTV so it pretty fuzzy and added black bar. Not sure if they had it tuned to the wrong channel or they just try to save the $ 20 by getting the cheaper TV package.

This is not the same place as it was remembered by me that chilly New Year’s night in 1997 on stage with the house band… memories. This place is SLAG with really poor customer service, expensive beers, and gross drinks. Seriously, the cranberry mixer tasted rancid and the well vodka must have come from a mud pit… GROSS! THEBATHROOMSAREINSANELYUNSANITARY! I find rusted walls near the urinals to be the ultimate display of this new mission for Alfred’s…Milk tourists for everything without giving them non-corroded metals that may cut them while peeing! Mwa-ha-ha-ha! Terrible.

I REALLY enjoyed Alfred’s on Beale. We sat outside up top with a nice view. The evening was pleasant and it was a great night to be outside. The food was excellent. I was surprised that the food was served without any sauce — you had to ask for that. They looked down at me a bit, as if it were insulting, but they brought some out. To make them happy, I ate some of my ribs«dry» and they were very good(nay, «excellent»). I did, however, sauce up half of them to enjoy that angle as well. I found the ribs were good and meaty — probably the best cuts I had while in Memphis. They were cooked just right, easily coming off the bone and melting in my mouth. Superb! The location is great — right on Beale, so you can go out and walk off your food while quaffing some beers. You can’t beat a night like that!

It really does have one of the best views of Beale St from their upstairs patio… and really awesome live music. Like most Memphians, I tend to stick to 152 or Silky’s when I venture onto Beale. But last night my boyfriend and I were tempted by that magical upstairs patio with the view of Beale. He was playing with his new camera and I’m a sucker for patios. It was 90% tourists but I love people watching so it worked out well. I still can’t figure out the relationship between most of those people(minus the couple on a really awkward second or third date)…but I digress. They have a pretty large menu mostly dealing with BBQ so we went with the BBQ nachos. They were good, but when we sent it back for more cheese and sour cream, they were better. Our waitress was sweet, if a little inattentive. So why 4 stars? I was a little shocked that our bill was $ 60…but then I realized we both had 6 drinks between the two of us(all doubles) and a BBQ nacho… that bang for my buck knocked it up a star.
