I have to say this is worst bbq I ever had something wasn’t right my stomach was sick for 2 days after eating food from here I will never eat here again I had the jumbo beef sandwich combo and the bbq nachos the best part of my food was the drink which was fruit punch I wasted 30 bucks cause I also bought a catfish combo for someone else and they said they didn’t like it

Best burger in town. Yes I know its dumb to order a burger at a BBQ place but I look forward to it when in this neighbor hood. Yes i know its run down and dirty but a half pound burger fries and drink under ten bucks is great. But when it tastes this good its unbeatable!

When the fries are better than the BBQ, you’ve got a problem. You’ve gotta be good to stand out as a BBQ restaurant in Memphis, and this place should just give up and try something else. Maybe Mexican!?! I can deal with the bad service and run down décor if the food’s good. But the food here is really sub par. But what’s really frustrating, are the local customers (who don’t know what good BBQ tastes like) are keeping this place in business. With lots of BBQ restaurants to choose from, there is no reason to come here.

Only BBQ spot that I MUST visit on whenever I get a chance to come home.

Had the beef brisket sandwich, smoked wings, and a turkey leg. The beef brisket was tough the wings were med rare and the smoke turkey leg was raw boo boo :(

A&R deserves a zero rating! A group of us took a trip to a memphis and one of the things we were dying to try is BBQ in Memphis. Well we all went to A&R and it was the absolute WORST ever. No customer service to start! A rating of 77 but my friends still insisted on trying it. I’m just going to list the things and you decide whether you want to visit thus place: Rib sandwich was horrible! Meat not done, pulled pork sandwich was drench in BBQ sauce it was so soggy on the bun, there were 2 orders of BBQ Turkey Drum sticks! One came out and it was drench in BBQ sauce ! By this time everyone had picked over there food and gave up! The second Turkey Leg meal came out! Oh wait they actually forgot about that order! How that happens is beyond me! It came out and it was even worse! It was also drenched in BBQ sauce! They apologized and offered free baked beans! We of course said no Thank a You! Clearly if the food was no good surely we were not going to take a chance on baked beans. But of course they bought them to our table anyway! Don’t even ask! Yes they were awful! Not too mention all the sauce dropping from the cup! Oh it gets worse! We sitting there and we started to notice all this smoke filling up the room! Guess what it was their Smoker inside the building! Absolutely no VENTILATION!!! Someone in party went to bathroom said it was so filthy mY hands needed washing but I refused to go in there! I’m telling you don’t go there! Especially if you are visiting Memphis! Maybe the locals like it! Oh we’ll they don’t ask for much! I now Know why they got a 77!!! We did not even bother to complain because if we didn’t customer service when we walked in! I can only imagine the attitude if we reported the disappointment in our meals! We were a group of six and we all complained about our meal! Never again A&R!

I heard good things about this place and went to give it a try. They had good ribs and a hot bbq sauce for them that was one of the best I have ever had. What really made this a cool place was the customer service. I asked if they had a ribs/​pulled pork combo plate as I wanted to try a couple of different things, but it was not on the menu. No problem, I just ordered the ribs. When my plate came out, it was a special made combo plate. Any place that will accommodate a customer with a non-​menu item deserves a thumbs up. I also liked their fried pickles.

I had the half rack ribs. maybe i got the wrong item, but the chili’s baby back ribs is much more tender and flavorful.

Did not want to cook so I went by and got a slab of ribs and slaw and the Barbeque spaghetti. There were a lot of people there but they keep it moving. Food was good and they offer a nice variety of beef and turkey products as well. I never had to start the grill up and I have left overs. Now off to the movies. Happy 4^th!

Just ok and a bit of a letdown. Deserves 2.5 stars. The service was uninspired and the BBQ reflected the same attitude. We were hoping for so much more since this is a local business with a family behind the scenes. Maybe it was just a bad day and the typical food and service is much better but regardless, I won’t go back.

Really good BBQ. I had the turkey sandwich on a bun with coleslaw and fried okra. was all so tasty. At first I was a little nervous because they put the sauce on my sandwich, I usually prefer to dip. However, the sauce was really really good!
The location is a little different than what I would have expected because it was in a strip mall, but of course these types of restaurants are usually the best hidden gems! The service was good and the food came out pretty fast. I really enjoyed my meal and look forward to going back.

Only came here bc of the tamales… they are AWESOME!!! However customer service is on the opposite end of the spectrum!!! They talk to customers any kind of way!!!

I’ve tried the Neely’s and the Interstate’s and the Rendezvous’ and the Corky’s, etc but this is by FAR in my top two barbecue places in Memphis (Jim&Nick’s is the other).

I’d actually give the place 3.5 stars. They have excellent BBQ sandwiches. they use a nice tangy sauce. Also, the bread is fresh and good and contributes significantly to the sandwich. I loved the atmosphere and the service.
One caveat was that A&R once had a case of food poisoning. However, it was only one incident, and to the best of my knowledge, they have tried to prevent that from occurring in the future.

good memphis bbq. beans are great… service is fast. Fries need improvement.
