I love KPD! It’s a super family friendly dojo. Sensei Kevin is an excellent instructor with kids and adults. My daughters and I have all responded well to his style that teaches respect, self/discipline, patience and FUN. The Tiny Tigers class is very age appropriate and works on transitioning the kids into the karate philosophy, basic techniques and ends in a super fun karate game. It’s great exercise for their minds and bodies. My super-shy, group-phobic child is responding well to the class and Sensei is big reason why. He’s helped transition her into the class and recognized her strength at the right time to get her self-confidence up and bolster her participation. When my eldest moved into the Little Leopards class it was perfect timing. She was was getting a little bored of Tiny Tigers and appreciated the increased technical instruction of the curriculum and longer class duration. So, I think the timing and instruction is well-suited by age. I was delighted when my oldest(6yo) told me she wanted to make-up missed classes over summer vacation, as she is grasping on a personal level a heightened sense of self-discipline and consistency. As a grown-up, I started KPD on a whim with no previous martial arts experience to have 2 nights of exercise accountability and personal time out of the house. I was TOTALLY out of shape after having 3 little ones, KPD helped me establish a set exercise routine. It pushed me to develop in areas not possible outside of the dojo and showed me simple ways to improve my health and challenge myself. I attribute my decision to join the dojo at KPD as a huge turning point in my path to reclaim my health. When I started I was 30 lbs heavier and doing a jumping jack warm up would have me sadly breathing heavily, but it motivated me to push myself a little more every class and outside of class. Now(a year later) I am WAY fitter and can run 3 miles no problem. I have progressed technically and love how karate has a curriculum and built in challenge. As I was a former athlete(20 years ago), Sensei Kevin has helped me tap into my fitness potential and really helped me to develop a new found love for the martial arts. The adult class is small at the moment, but offers loads of individual attention. On the plus side, it’s great for developing technique and individual learning. So, a dedicated student can excel fairly quickly. It’s also really cool to be able to use karate as an outlet to connect with my kids and other martial arts enthusiasts in my professional and personal circles. Regardless of the class or circumstances, Sensei Kevin is ALWAYS professional and super affable. He doesn’t gift belt promotions, they must be earned; I like this approach. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend KPD to those seeking a dojo regardless of their age or knowledge of Karate.

Sensei Kevin is incredibly talented and lovely to work with… he has gotten my 6-year old daughter excited to learn the art of karate… he teaches in a way that focuses on inner as well as outer strength; he is engaging and nurturing(not to mention incredibly talented at karate… mesmerizing to watch); helping kids reach goals and feel accomplished. I feel very lucky to have found Karate Pro Dojo!!!
