This place is absolutely Awful. My Uncle had a hair in his food, place is very small, the apple juice tastes like piss. How do you mess up apple juice? It is unreal how disgusting this place is. I had to keep moving my chair to let people by because of how small this place is. Will never come back. Had to get up to get a knife because I was not given one. Absolutely horrible.

Excellent food and service! Got there at 10:30. Seated right away. Server gave special attention to our toddler

Best breakfast food in the area! Fully in support of local business run by family. They always treat me well here and love that they aren’t cash only. Lots of specials. Small dining space but I think that’s part of the experience. Great attentive service and one of the places I always bring guests to because it’s THAT good

Finally, as two breakfast divas, we finally found a place that suits our needs– homey feel, decent prices, and a «to-order» menu that makes me feel comfortable customizing my meal! The service was great, coffee was plenty. I can’t say enough great things.

Nice breakfast — simple casual no frills eats. Fresh fast and reasonably priced.

I ordered the 2×2 with a side of sausage patties. Good pancakes with a nice chew on the outside and tender fluffy interior. The eggs over medium were unseasoned but cooked well and the potato hash had a good crust to it. The meal was fine, nothing exceptional. It’d be nice if they cleaned the menus and creamers though

After reading the Unilocal reviews, I decided to try breakfast here. I felt duped. I love dives and restaurants off the beaten path but this one was a «DIE“ve. The place was absolutely filthy from the counters, tables, silverware, and kitchen space that I could see. Our food was completely coated in oil. The french toast was soaked with oil and was inedible. The sausage links were undercooked and I actually had to spit it out it was that disgusting. Both my fiancé and I both felt sick for the rest of the day after eating here. Do yourself a favor and avoid at all costs.

Place is not very clean. The waitstaff, wearing open toed shoes with her hair down, handed my fork to me by the fork tines, my butter knife by the knife part. Not very appetizing. A 10-year-old child, while adorable, waited on us. The home fries were white potatoes dipped in fryer oil. One of the least satisfying breakfasts I have had in some time. Not sure what all of the positive reviews were for…

Best pancakes around! Light, fluffy and delicious! Their omelettes also scrumptious. My favorite is the spinach, cheese and tomato.

I absolutely adore this place. It’s one of the gems of Melrose and a classic New England breakfast spot. The thing that brings me back for more is their wonderful Eggs Benedict and crisp home fries. The eggs are always poached perfectly and the home fries are never flabby and bland. The thing that I love the most is that it is a family owned restaurant. I’d much rather give my money to a small family run business than a chain of Mega Mega Coffee Shops with microwaved sandwiches and cookie cutter offerings.

There is something to be said about family owned home cooking. It’s just plain good. Don’t come here if you are looking for a soy latte with extra foam or a light breakfast… you have to be a champion to take on this breakfast. The nitty gritty Bathroom clean but small Parking limited but worth a walk from a couple of blocks away Seating tables and counter was cash only but now they take credit cards

Beware: Showed up this morning at 5 am after a long 3rd shift and starving. Just wanted a meal before hitting the hay. They were not open. Waited until 5:30, still nobody in the place. Maybe call ahead to make sure they are open before stopping by if you are planning on hitting them up early? Edit: I received a message from the owner apologizing for the inconvenience. They stated that the hours posted on here might not always be accurate. Anyway, that’s worth an increase of one star in my book.

I’ve been coming here for years. I mean it’s breakfast food done right. LOVE the fact that they have Scali toast!!! They have the best French toast, upgrade to the Vermont Maple Syrup. Eggs are cooked perfect meats are always juicy and delicious. I have never left here unsatisfied. The owners are great too and always ask for whoever in my family isn’t with me at the time. This is a Melrose staple.

Food was decent, but the place is just too small. Came for breakfast, sat at the counter since there were no tables nor a place to stand and wait. The counter turned out to be a good choice, but it was so crowded that no one knew what was going on, it was difficult to get a refill of water, but the servers were very friendly and didn’t make any mistakes which was good, considering how busy it was. The one thing I wasn’t keen on was seeing the kitchen and a huge can of hash. It makes me sad when you can see the sources.

This place is AMAZING. Took my mother, who was in town there this morning and had THEBEST apple pancakes of my life. I’ve had them from here to San Diego and these were easily the best. So the food is great, but the feel of the place is so cool. The staff is all the same family and they treat you like a house guest. Wonderful service, and the owner is sweet as the pancakes they serve. I am amazed at the –couple– bad reviews here and have to wonder if they come from the people at the new place down the street because my mother and I had an amazing breakfast. I never review but actually took the time because it was really that good. I’m going back FORSURE. :-)

Where do I start? Looks like a cute little spot on the corner. The word here is looks. You mite as well go up the street to the Dunkin Donuts because they have better food then this establishment. I’m at a loss of words. Do they even cook anything? Let me start at the beginning, I came across this place since I cut through Melrose to Malden for work. I’m a big breakfast guy, so obviously I knew one day i’d love to try this place. Three months ago I went in for breakfast… I regret every minute of it now. First things first the staff is RUDE! Fine, whatever just feed me. I don’t care about them. Staff is the typical staff you find at a Dennys, on their cellphones, loud & obnoxious, more or less they hate servering someone. It’s whatever like I said. I ordered a pancake, eggs & bacon. The pancake was burned on the bottom and the edges, the eggs tasted like they were frozen instant eggs and it tasted like a wet clump of rubber bands… DISGUSTING! The bacon was not fresh, Ihop’s bacon is more fresh then this places bacon. The overall experience ruined breakfast for me. It was disgusting. I will never go back to this place and I tell all my friends, family and people who want breakfast to go to 3 Yolks Breakfast & Lunch on Western ave on the Saugus/Lynn line. Stay away from Trackside. This place is a glorified truck stop with disgusting food & bad service. People on Unilocal have been warned!

Hubby and I tried Cappa’s this Sunday when I woke up starving after a late night out and didn’t want to wait in line over at Blue Moon. Based on the reviews, I was worried that we’d still have a wait since we were going in at 9am on a Sunday, but there were plenty of tables when we arrive. The best words to describe Cappa’s are fast, cheap, and O.K. Service was good– friendly, attentive, and quick. Food is MADCHEAP. our total bill was $ 20 and we got a ton of food. Hubby got the eggs benny and said it was«OK». Tasted good(average, not great) but was very sloppily made. I got the Two by Two with a substitution of pumpkin pancakes instead of regular. This is a ton of food. I got 2 eggs(good, it’s hard to screw up eggs), Cinnamon toast(yum), homefries(bland and had this odd crunchy grill texture. Would not get them again), and 2 pancakes. The pancakes were the highlight of the meal(thought I could only eat one of the 2). I’d go back to Cappa’s if I were on a budget crunch or in a hurry to eat, but in the area I think there are definitely better options. Cappa’s is very typical diner food.

Caramel Pecan French Toast! Mmmmm Love this little place. Close to my house and great prices. The food comes out so fast! I have always gotten a table right away because I come at the perfect time where the tables are just turning. Service is pretty good and there is also parking around the area.

Delicious! Go early and go hungry. Be prepared to wait it out a bit, but it shouldn’t be bad. These guys are pros at getting everyone in, fed and back out so more people can be seated. Keep that in mind while you’re dining… Love their pancakes — thick and buttery. I always think I can eat three but I can’t barely finish two and one would have been plenty. The bacon is delicious and cooked perfectly and man can they grill a bagel, mmm. The home fries aren’t my style, but I tend to be weird. I love that the coffee cups are all mismatched but once in a while they could be cleaner. Overall the staff is very pleasant, but sometimes it looks like they’re overworked and overtired.
