Smokey Bones Bar & Fire Grill

Regular visitor on Fridays after work. All the staff are welcoming and responsive but I’ve been especially impressed with Marlena, Melanie and Eric. The wings and loaded fries make for some great bar food.

My first impression of Smokey Bones was that of a barbecue encrusted, slow smoked evening with great food and great service. The wait staff was helpful and happy to recommend, and explain all the delicious food options. An obvious choice for any carnivore is something that’s been cooking for hours prior to you arrival. It’s the «smokey bones» of the the restaurant. There’s plenty of delectable vegetarian options as well. Regardless of what you order, it’s guaranteed to be something your taste buds will thank you for. Especially when you douse it with one of the 4 different barbecue sauces at the middle of every table. Right next to the huge stack of napkins you’ll be needing.

Mi fiancée and I went here for dinner and were thrilled with our service! Seated promptly, served promptly, and they really went the extra mile to make sure we got what we wanted.
I had the ribs (both St. Louis and baby back style) and was very pleased. I think I liked the St. Louis style better but both were good. I tried a few of their sauces they keep ready on the table for you and would have to say the mustard sauce was fantastic, not that the ribs really needed it.
My fiancée got the petit sirloin with garlic butter and it was tender and delicious! Our side items were good too, although I liked the cornbread appetizer more than she did. It’s rich like a cake and comes with an amazing pecan butter, but the texture is a little different from traditional cornbread. I loved it!
We’ll definitely be back for more!

My first time to a Smokey Bones and they are not bad. Nothing special either though. I was dining as a party of one and the hostess wanted me to sit at the bar which I am adverse to doing. She finally sat me agreed and sat me at a table.
The server was very good. Attentive and not over bearing. Knew which beers were on tap and had recommendation’s for food.
The food and drinks were ok. Nothing special or anything but not bad.
Might give them a try again.

Casual and friendly environment. Their home brew was just great after a long day of work and travel. Ribs were good (¹⁄₃ Babyback, ¹⁄₃ St. Louis) but not great (too much sauce and sweet) — but I am spoiled on Austin TX BBQ so I might be biased here.
I loved their amber colored home brew. Sides were really good (beans, slaw, dirty rice). Onion rings weren’t that good and I expected it to be really good.
Very friendly and responsive staff! Reasonably-​priced. Overall it was a great experience.

We came here on the recommendation of my brother for my husband’s birthday. We will NEVER be back. Our server was kind of a flake, but nice. We ordered 2 apps the loaded nachos & loaded fries. The nachos were pretty much $ 11 for a pile of chips. They were supposed to have queso & cheese, which seemed to b on the very top ONLY & very little. We took off 4 chips & asked the waiter if this was normal to not have anything underneath? He looked confused & said «I don’t think so» we thought he would offer to get us a new one or take it off the bill, but after an akward silence i finally asked if we could at least have more queso to dunk the chips in. The loaded fries were AMAZING they were crispy & full of stuff like the nachos should have been. Fries were the best part of the whole meal. My daughter & I ordered burgers & hubby had the pick 2 (¼ chicken & tri tip). Both burgers looked like they were deep fried and had absolutley no flavor in the meat. I took 2 bites and left the rest. Daughter ate half becuase shw was starving. My husbands tri tip was very tender, but had absolutley no flavor not even salt & pepper. The ¼ chicken at least had flavor to the outside, but was definitely NOT smoked. Didnt tasted smoked or have the smoke ring inside the meat. The baked beans were almost too sweet, but ok. The cinnamon apples tasted like pie filling from a can. I feel so bad because he had been looking forward to going to smokey bones since we moved to Palm Bay over a year ago. He was extremely disappointed as was I. We got a free dessert for his bday so we took home the donuts i guess we will see later how those taste. We obviously do not recommend smokey bones except maybe a beer & loaded fries.
Just as a side note the portion sizes on the pick 2 were quite small for the price. I did ask for a sample of the baked potato soup which was very good. I wish i had orded that, but was craving a burger, big mistake.

Was looking forward to what would normally be a great barbecue experience. This time, I was denied from start to finish. Hostess struggled with table selection, menus, and didn’t offer anything. I ordered combo ribs «Double Trouble». Baby backs we okay. St Louis ribs were awful with a piece of bone fragment in every bite. Dirty rice was abominable. Baked potato wasn’t fresh. I always enjoyed their fried pickles, and that recipe changed for the worse. Asked the waitress three time for separate checks, and had to coach her through drink refills more than once. Top the whole experience off with a filthy restroom and I won’t be back. Very disappointed. Used to enjoy this place very much. Felt more like a dirty college bar than a restaurant. $ 3 Upcharge for substandard sides billed as «premium» was ridiculous.

Really let down. Used to be a loyal customer and always raved about their food. Well tonight the food took more than 30 minutes to come out. We asked the waiter how much longer and he told us that the salmon was taking the longest kind of like we were stupid. The food then came out with cold steak on our salad and over cooked, dry, salmon. My son’s Mac and cheese was pretty much buttered noodles with curdled looking, melted, cheese. To make amends the server brought us donuts to go. Yum, right?! Oh no … He put bbq sauce in with them instead of the raspberry jelly, not a good flavor combination. Throughly disappointed.

The server was very nice. We had one server for a 10 person party. Appetizers and food was as expected. We are return customers with a loyalty status. The big surprise was a trip to the men’s room and the VERY bad stench of urine. The floors were wet. Oh there was a yellow hazard board but it was gross. The grossest part was when I returned to the table I could smell urine that apparently the soles of my shoes picked up. They have some new thing on the table. A small tablet type electronic device. I thought it was to play games. It’s not just for games. The waitress forced us to pay our credit card tab via this device. It may be a little more secure but 10 people, 5 bills and loyalty cards, yada, yada, yada. I wasn’t happy with the evening.

I recently had a horrible dining experience at this establishment on January 4, 2016. My partner and I decided to have a quick bite and drinks at the bar. Halfway through our dinner we noticed a customer across the bar using profanities and constantly using the «N» word over and over while laughing with his friends. I was extremely offended by the use of such ignorant and derogatory terms. I made the bartender aware and was told he would ask the unruly patron to leave. Since the obnoxious customers seemed to be friends of the bartender nothing was done and the patron was even louder with his use of the «N» word. I would think that a restaurant in 2016 would take immediate action and would care about the restaurant experience of ALL of their customers. This clearly was not the case at Smokey Bones. Since we no longer had an appetite and no employees seem to care about our dining experience, we paid the bill and left. I will not be back and will let all my friends, family and my co workers know about my negative experience here.

It was just okay. Draft beer selection is weak. Ordered a burger, which would have been much better but it was served on the absolutely crappiest bun I’ve ever experienced. They also use a table tablet system that is a novel idea but takes too long to figure out. There’s a function to press a button for a drink reorder but, seriously, if they can’t monitor their patrons’ needs the traditional way, I’m probably not going to be back. Not a good value for the price.

Wish I could give ZERO stars, the food was horrendous at this place. When me and my wife came in this evening the place was basically empty except for a few bar flies watching foot ball. Ordered a simple hamburger and side of fried pickles took 30 min to get it. I would of been happier with Burger King. Burger didn’t come as i ordered and it was topped with little pieces of soggy lettuce and a little onion slice and tiny little cup of beans. Can’t imagine going back if they can’t get a hamburger right.

Exceptional service two days in a row from Nick C. :). He advised us on exactly what we should eat. Fish and Chips and pulled pork sand which … My wife and I split the order and shared. As mentioned we came back the very next day with our youngest daughter for lunch and ordered Memphis ribs and fish and chips. Mouthwatering is all I can say. Nick treated us right. Exceptional server… Never had to ask for anything. 2^nd drink vinegar for fish all delivered with precision. Nick is very comfortable and familiar with the restaurant environment. Very much of a take charge type individual. I hope this restaurant has a good succession planning program since Nick would make an exceptional manager/​team leader. Spend some time with him and you will understand… Truly a pleasurable dining experience!!! Eric + Maria Johnson

I’m mostly an order online and pick up customer, but on occasion I take my daughter in to get some wings and dessert. Food is great, wings were amazing the first visit and dry the 2^nd. Might I say they have the best chocolate cake I have yet to experience in 9 states?!! Instantaneous addiction and my newest complaint is how close I live to Smokey Bones.
They can really do no wrong due to the cake commitment I have, however… the evening crew might pay a little more attention to greeting customers as they come in. On more than one occasion I received no acknowledgement after standing at the podium for near 5 minutes. I’m a decent tipper even for takeout but I do expect to be greeted and not looked at and assumed that another person will take care of it. Especially, when it’s slow (which it usually is when I arrive). There was one guy today, with a beard, who was very polite and took extra care of me on a pick up order. Really appreciated that. Keep that guy around!
All said and done this is one of my staple restaurants in Melbourne. And not just because I live close by. Okay a big reason, but seriously try that cake.

We ate here for lunch over the weekend. We got the fried pickles for appetizer VERY good, my husband and I both built our own sandwiches he got a turkey burger and I get a grilled chicken sandwich everything was yummy, also like that you could get on ciabatta bread at no extra cost. Everything was yummy, service was great, food came out quick! And very reasonably priced!

Would have given a 2 star rating if it wasn’t for the portable trivia machine ($ 1.99) to play while we waited for our dinner and the Pinot Noir. I’ve heard about how good the chain is but hadn’t visited until now. Disappointed with the portion of food which was so small and little flavor. We both ordered from the Pick Your Combo menu under the impression of receiving decent sized offering. The baked potato was undercooked on my plate and the mashed potatoes didn’t have gravy as stated on the menu. BBQ chicken breast was small and dry. The brisket and sliced turkey were dry also.

This place is great! I had the pulled pork Sammy and mac and cheese and WAS NOT DISSAPOINTED! they’re quick too if you need to coke in and out for lunch. They will definitely have my business again.

I came here in search for a decent burger. Sat at the bar, ordered the smokehouse burger and got the bacon substituted with avocado.
The burger was good. Better than a couple I’ve had in the area, but I am still exploring! The toppings were scarce compared to the size of the party. There was barely a teaspoon of avocado on the bun, and ⁵⁄₆ small pieces of crispy onion tanglers.
I would suggest being more generous with the toppings on the burgers.

We came for lunch and were cheerfully greeted. Overall the experience was fine, but the one thing that overshadowed the experience was our waitress. She was very nice to us but she constantly accused the other waitresses of doing things wrong. Very unprofessional. She also wore pants that were two sizes too small and kept leaning over the table next to us exposing things that didn’t need to be exposed during our dinner. Very unprofessional. I have to say that we observed the other waitresses and all seemed to be very nice, efficient, and professional. We happened to get the wrong one.
The food was very good. Several of us had the ribs, which were tender and cooked very nicely. The selection of sauces allowed everyone to try their favorites. The barbecue baked beans were absolutely wonderful, as were the baked potatoes.
For dessert we chose two options to split among our four diners. You absolutely have to try the «bag of doughnuts». They cook them fresh then shake them in a bag of sugary coating, and serve them with small dishes of chocolate and fruit sauces for dipping. Hot and awesome! We also shared the chocolate cake with ice cream, which is great for chocolate lovers!
Smokey Bones is definitely worth a visit for the food and very good desserts. Most of the staff seems very professional and I’m sure that good management will quickly address the issues that we observed.
