Wind salt and water The Melbourne Riverfront park is a pleasant 16 acre park that has some pavilions, grills, a sand volleyball court, bathrooms and a areas to launch small watercraft. It also has a few little walking paths and some grassy areas with great old oak trees and huge palms. A nice place for a picnic or to watch the water. It’s an extremely windy place. It always seems to be howling off the water and that of course makes it a very popular place for windsurfers. It’s fun to watch them screaming up and down the waterway. The small ramp is very non motorized boats only but it is a very convenient place to launch a kayak, small sailboat and of course windsurfers. There are several rather smelly, persistent and obviously drunk individuals that were going around trying to get money off of people. I suspect they live in or around the park and always seem to be there. They are annoying but probably mostly harmless. A nice park to gain access to the water, watch the water or simply be near the water. The breeze is great, even in the hottest weather and helps to keep the odor of the smelly, drunk guys from getting too bad.
