The place was gross and disgusting. They have overpriced mediocre hamburgers. We were very disappointed in our meals. The meersburger was $ 11.25 and didn’t come with anything. There was a small slice of lettuce and some onion slices on it. They charge extra for fries and onion rings. The burger didn’t even cover the bun. We drove out from the Ft Sill area with our SIT and I was totally annoyed that we wasted so much time to drive here. There are much better places in Lawton to eat.

This was probably the most disgusting place I’ve ever eaten at. My boyfriend and I ate here back in November of 2015. They use crappy plastic repurposed school chairs(the kind from Elementary) and their bathroom needed serious work as well. The dirty, sticky, stain-covered menus were a great indicator of the quality and cleanliness standards. The food was about McDonald’s quality but because the portions are large you pay a huge price. I’d honestly rather go hungry than ever go back. It’s basically a perfect personification of how the rest of the country views Okies-full of ghetto rednecks that think food is good because it is big.

So I came here while I was in town last year and was totally stoked to come back this year. When my group and I arrived we sat and asked if a blind could be closed because of the sun then later said it didn’t need to be done and we switched seats. However, our waitress went out of her way and ended up hitting her head on the fan trying to close it. After apologies and thankfulness to her she boycotted our table for the next ½ hour and refused to serve us. Now I can see where she’s coming from but I did not ask for her to climb on top of a table to fix something we resolved ourselves moments ago. Service sucked. Food was aight.

The best burger I have EVER had. I got the seismic meersburger. 1 lbs of longhorn beef. Absolutely heaven. The sweet relish and jalapeños made all the difference. Every bite was delightful. My coworker ordered steak and he said it was the best piece of steak he’s had as well. The owner raises the longhorn and grass feeds them.

I was told to come out and try a seismic burger and following the commercials my wife decided she would try the BBQ. Sorely disappointed since they no longer do ANYBBQ at all(least that’s what the waitress told us). Well when we went to order 5:30 pm and no salad bar and two soups even though they are a main part of some of the entrees. The beer cheese soup was watery to be sure and the beef soup had no meat in it. When questioned the waitress said«oh they must have just taken the meat out»(Please explain why they would remove what was supposed to be pieces of meat in the soup and left some flavorless broth). They only had one chicken fried steak left. Two of us ordered the seismic burger, one got the hamburger steak and my wife ordered the chicken fried steak. The burgers were ok but just kind of slapped together and while quartered they were not cut all the way through. I’d give it maybe a 4 out of 10 for flavor. The hamburger steak was ok at best and so covered with onions and gravy that the meat had zero flavor. The chicken fried steak was horrible, the breading was so over cooked that had My wife managed to cut or peel it off and painted it black, We could have sold it to the NHL as a hockey puck. The fries and onion rings were disgusting and had the flair of old grease(I would assume from the color and flavor that they have not changed their oil/grease anytime in the last 6 months. Additionally, ever seen a place that uses an old nasty hammer to knock the ice out of their salad bar… yep I have now. There may have been a time when Meers was the place to go for food but those days are apparently FAR in the past and for now it amounts to a business barely hanging on from the looks of it. I would highly recommend Anns Country Kitchen(just a little down the road from Meers) and go there to eat instead. The food at Anns is 1,000,000,000,000 times better and the service is too!!!

As we spent a week working at Ft. Sill, OK, we were urged to try this place. The«infamous» seismic burger was very good – it certainly was big enough. You have to at least share a peach cobbler with ice cream – I don’t think too many people can finish both burger and cobbler. The drive from Lawton was long – about 40 minutes.

This place is absolutely AMAZING! An old mining town converted restaurant in the wildlife refuge in Medicine Park, OK. Their beef is longhorn from cattle they raise. The Meers Burger is the best! Also, they have a Meers Beer that is very good. The atmosphere is a very«hole in the wall feel» and it’s awesome. Just adds to the rustic and historical experience. We come here every time we visit. Don’t miss this delicious historical spot just outside Lawton, OK.

Thought I’d check this place out since they were a tourist attraction; I wish I hadn’t. Service was awful and rude. They only take cash. I had their buffalo burger, onion rings, and peach cobbler a la mode. Burger was mediocre at best and for a whopping 13 bucks just for the burger I’d expect more. Buffalo meat is not that expensive… Onion rings where okay and fries tasted like they were left out and cold when they reached the table. The ice cream was tasty but very watery(also it’s made with raw eggs). Peach cobbler crust was not as flakey or soft to my preference. I’ll never go back because it wasn’t even close being worth it. I rather spend 8 bucks for a beer at a game then go there again.

Brace yourself, because this place is crowded. On a sunny afternoon after hiking the Wichita mountains, a trip to Meers seems to be on the books(for EVERYONE). I got there on a Saturday around 5pm and the line out the door was about 60 people deep. People are such sheep! What’s annoying is that there were EMPTY tables inside and staff moving at the pace of molasses to get people their food. I whittled my way in to use the bathroom and ask about sitting at the bar since I was alone but they didn’t have a bar. So I got an order to go of brisket, polish sausage, potato salad, cole slaw, rolls, and peach cobbler, a four person take out deal for $ 18. This really kept me fed for a week to the point where I didn’t want to look at brisket and had to throw out a chunk of the sausage. Cobbler was my favorite hands down. And it’s definitely better to dine in and of course, everything tastes better fresh. The décor is really old and rustic. Non-matching cheap plastic chairs abound over unstable tables placed willy nilly over the place. I had their seismic burger a while back and while even Hercules me could only finish half, I was left unimpressed with the flavor. Namely, it had none. Pass the salt and pepper I guess.

We finally decided to try out meers and it was okay. We’ve heard so much about this place so we already had high expectations. The restaurant itself is almost in the middle of nowhere but it has a traditional country feeling on the inside. The service we had was disappointing. Our waitress had absolutely no mimic to her face. No smile no thank you no nothing. It made us feel uncomfortable. The food: We had beef brisket which was excellent! It came with coleslaw, baked beans, potatoe salad and a dinner roll. The infamous burger was good but definitely not the best burger I ever had. We also ordered a side order of fried butter pickles. I guess the oil from the fryer hasn’t been changed in awhile you could just taste the old grease. We had the peach cobbler with homemade ice cream and it was delicious! We would probably go back for some desert and beer. I can only give 3 stars because the service really was disappointing and the fried pickles had a old grease taste.

Meers is known for their burger, but we are in love with their brisket. We always get the light lunch platter, which has to be a joke, because I’ve never been able to finish it. The menu says it is 4 ounces of brisket, but it sure seems like a whole lot more than that. The brisket is among some of the best I have ever tasted, thinly sliced and extremely tender, with a very good smoky flavor. I really enjoyed the sides too, it comes with Charro beans which are amazing, a creamy potato salad, and a creamy coleslaw and a nice fluffy roll. The sides are as good as the beef! The star of the show has to be their cobbler though. It is truly the best cobbler I have ever had, paired with the big scoop of their house made vanilla ice cream, you cannot go wrong. Also, they have a very good beer called Meers Gold, it’s a flavorful and tasty light lager. I highly recommend a glass of it with your meal. The line here can get pretty long, especially for large groups. Best bet is to go during non-peak hours to get seated the most quickly. Also, their hours are sometimes funky, it’s a good idea to call before you go. I believe they are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays right now.

Fantastic food. Great burgers, the onion rings, fried okra, and fried green tomatoes are fantastic. The desserts are out of this world. Will definitely be back. :)

You people refuse service to wheelchair-bound patrons? Denying service and completely embarrassing and demoralizing a 16 year-old boy is beyond disgusting! The Ford family is made up of wonderful people who have touched many people’s lives. You have no idea how far and wide this news is going to spread. Rest assured that my family will never set foot in your establishment again, and that we’ll relentlessly help spread the word of your disgraceful business practices.

Is it worth all the hype for this BFE burger joint you ask? Possibly. we drove 105 miles from OKC waited in like for an hour the service kinda sucked. I got the seismic burger 16oz 97 lean for $ 14. The burger was a good average burger with every topping known to man. Definitely a one of a kind place with a one a kind experience with beautiful scenery. Even though you won’t have room in your gut the homemade ice cream is a must.

I’ve never been somewhere where you wait almost an hour at 3pm on a Sunday. We almost left but after all the hype we heard about the little place we had to go. Overall the food was pretty good. The meersburger is Huge! It’ll feed 2 people easy. It tasted good, good buns and cooked good, not over cooked like a lot of places. The fried green tomatoes were good but the batter is spicy! The old building is cool but man was it freezing in there! Every table is like directly under a vent. The dessert was huge and very yummy. Great price too huge servings 5 of us ate the cobbler and ice cream and its all homemade. Don’t know if I’ll go back but if I’m in the area and the lines not crazy long I may have to sample something else.

I was traveling for business and recalled a friend recommending this place. I called just to make sure they were open. The lady was rude and abrupt. She was so muffled when she answered the phone, so I asked«I’m sorry — what did you say the restaurant was called?» She repeated herself acting very frustrated«Meets restaurant! How may I help you?!? l» I told her I was just making sure they were open. She said«Yea, but we close RIGHTAT7:30pm!» I said thank you and she just hung up. I’m a foodie — I heard they let you choose your cut of steak. Being this was a different concept, I was going to make the 22 mile drive anyway. When I saw the reviews on Urbanspoon reiterating the rudeness of the employees. I decided that they didn’t deserve my business after all.

If I was just judging the food I could give this overhyped restaurant three stars, but unfortunately a few other issues come into play. The Good– My mother and I shared a «Seismic Burger» for a late lunch/early dinner. Thanks to the size of the burger(½ pound) we were not at all hungry for the remainder of our day. Thanks to the lean quality of the beef, we woke the next morning without the heavy bloated feeling one has after most large burger meals. Also, do yourself a favor and just look at the photos of cobbler here. Now go ahead and order a bowl, doesn’t matter what flavor. You can ask for the ice cream to be served in a separate bowl. If I ever return it will be to order just a bowl of cobbler. The burger was ok, but the portion size of the cobbler might be worth the 13 mile drive from town. The Bad– This is an OLD building. I was asked why I was seated all the way at the edge of my seat, hunched over and nearly lying on the table, so I invited my dinner companions to switch seats with me for just a moment. There were no adequate words to describe the slant in the floor directly behind my chair, but I was pretty sure I was about to tumble backwards at some point during my meal. I was happy that we were there on a slow day, as I could feel every footstep as people crossed the room. I also suggest that you don’t look too closely at the floors or the corners. I’m just going to take a wild guess that there might be some dust. The Ugly– Even for a down home, country loving, bible belt, conservative community like Lawton, the views and attitude on display on the menus and other random literature throughout the store are on the nasty side. Sorry, but I’m pretty sure they didn’t have to reduce the size of the hamburger buns because of the new healthcare laws. I’m also not fond of being called names by people when I’ve decided to spend my money on their food. It leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and I’m guessing a few scorch marks on their souls. From their menu– * Our famous burgers are cooked medium well done and are served with mustard, dill pickles, tomatoes, purple onions, and green leaf lettuce. We use American cheese because our burgers are American burgers. We have been fixing them this way since the beginning, for over 50 years and this is the way our cowboys like them. 99% of our customers like them this way so this is why we respectfully call this burger(and your hats off boys) the COWBOYBURGER. * Some folks like mayo on their burgers instead of mustard but call burgers with this a SISSYBURGER! Other folks like ketchup on their burgers instead of mustard. We call burgers with this a YANKEEBURGER! Cowboys believe ketchup belongs on fries, not beef. * A few folks out there want all three — mustard, mayo, and ketchup — on their burgers. The poor fools are simply confused. We don’t care how you want your burger fixed. We will fix it any way you want it. We cook your burger to order. Try one with bacon, jalapeño or both. However, if you order something other then a cowboy burger, please be patient; our cooks rarely encounter sissies, Yankees or confused souls.

Meers is top 5 best restaurants you’ll go to in your entire life. They have the best cobbler(get it with ice cream) you’ll ever have(and I am not even a cobbler fan). They give you large freedom-loving American portions and they brew their own beer. The West wasn’t won in salad and if you come within 100 nautical miles of Meers, you need to check them out. You’ll be back!

There are few times the middle of nowhere means, exactly that. Meers is a drive from everywhere; and a drive you won’t forget when dodging Longhorns or stopping to snapchat the grazing wild buffalo. If you make it to Meers, watch your step upon entry. Very historic and slanted building with torn seats and wobbly tables. The menu is insightful on the history and how/why the food is prepared as it is. Drinks came fairly quickly in X-large mason jars and the delicious Meers Beer came in a large 22 oz bottle. Those ordering steak got a show, a 30lb cut of beef was brought to our table for your choice of cut. After that, well… we waited and waited. We recalled the entire dialogue of titanic before our food ever came out. The waitresses were cold as Jack freezing in the Atlantic and their service was titanic quality, wrecked. The food was delicious! We had no complaints about the gigantic burgers, juicy cooked to perfection steaks or the ridiculous home made peach cobbler and vanilla icecream. Everything you could expect from a 50min wait. I will be returning, but with my DVD player and less of an appetite since I’ll have time to establish one.

AWESOME Burger! I drove over an hour out of my way to come here. I waited in line for almost another hour just to get a seat. The service wasn’t great… But the burger makes up for it all! This is 97% Fat Free Longhorn Cattle Beef from the farm on the property. It’s GOOD! They serve it on a big bun with mustard, pickle, lettuce and tomato. I asked for Mayonnaise and was informed that Mayo transforms it into a ‘Yankee Burger’. Well, since I’m a Yankee(in these parts) I thought it was OK. The burger was as big as the metal plate it was served on. Actually, I only ate half there, and took the rest home.(FYI: This burger is actually quite good when microwaved a day later) The french fries I ordered were cold and wilted… but did I mention the BURGER? I got chicken wings, but they weren’t very good. This is a BURGER place. I took a bottle of their beer(that they commision someone else to brew) and it was pretty good! Overall, this is a unique experience. This place IS the town of Meers. There is nothing else. Stop by for an experience…
