Tavernette offers a wonderful dining experience. The ambiance is relaxing and mellow. I had the walleye and loved it. There was enough for two people. The wait was very long so if going on a Saturday plan accordingly or call ahead. The elements of the Tavernette of yesteryear remain intact under new owners. 5 stars.

First time we’ve been here and we weren’t disappoonted. Service was excellent, and the food came out quickly and piping hot. After reading the reviews we had to try the walleye. It was cooked perfectly, could have been seasoned more since walleye can be a little bland. Thanks Unilocal,we found a diamond in the rough!

This is a unique place. Good drinks, lovely décor, good service! My dinner companion and myself had the fried walleye and something else. It was great. Loved the relish tray too!

This is a unique dining experience. Past visits I have always enjoyed their delicious steaks and tonight my wife and daughter did the same. I had the chicken Oscar and while it was tasty I was a little disappointed. The hollandaise was more like chicken gravy and the crab cake was small, but it was very delicious. Our server Olivia was outstanding very friendly and attentive. The restaurant is loaded with antiques and a lot of charm it is becoming one of my favorite Springfield area establishments.

Great food, service and atmosphere. There is a kids menu and they sell alcohol in case you are going with your kids… someone save me… It’s newly reopened and it’s much nicer and extremely clean but they were able to keep the old 50’s era supper club feel. The food is very flavorful without being too exotic. A great off the beaten path place to eat.

My wife and I went to the Tavernette Inn last week and the service was excellent and the food was very good. Everyone was very attentive to our needs, and we will continue to patronage this restaurant. I had the walleye and my wife had the special, we both had a draft beer and the selection of beers was very good, I would recommend this restaurant,

Reopened under new ownership and it’s better than ever! Some of the staff has returned including the bartender Mr. Pat!

I’m sorry to have to write this. Tavernette had a good reputation. We haven’t been here in 30 years and we should have waited longer. It was horrible. The service was really bad. After waiting an unreasonable time I tried to order a bourbon. The waitress came back and said they didn’t have Urban Wolf. Based on the conversation I went to the bar myself. Waited for the bartender. Ordered the drink. He poured it in front of me and kept it behind the bar and walked off. Started cutting limes. I waited and waited. Finally asking if I could take the drink. He said he would take my money in a minute. I said I would have the waitress put it on my table. Waiting we finally ordered. Prices I considered premium for Medway Oh. The salad was called deluxe but was ordinary. The Blue Cheese dressing had no Blue Cheese and was obviously lower end dressing. My prime rib($ 26) was terrible. The quality of the meat was bad. Thin and tough for prime rib. Overlooked. Wife had a sirloin that was ordered med rare but was med well. Quality of her cut was low end also. Seriously this was Golden Corral quality cuts for premium price. Bad service, bad food. The only recommendation I can make is to avoid this place. I am still steaming about this. I wanted to go to a top steakhouse and my wife wanted to try this. She is not happy that it’s all on her. Don’t eat here, just go to a mediocre chain restaurant, you will be happier.

Went with my family on a Saturday night, we were one of the only people in there. They started us out with a bread bowl with white and rye bread, both were very dry. Many of us ordered Filet Mignon medium(one person ordered medium well) and all of them came our rare. We sent the medium well one back to have them make a new one but the rest of us ate ours and the flavor was right! But again they just did not know how to cook them. The Mac and cheese was great but I dont think it was homemade. After we had paid we needed a box for one of the meals, we probably waited for 5 minutes for someone to come over, I finally got up and went to the bar to find a waitress and let her know we needed a box. after about 10MORE minutes she finally brought us a box. It was to the point where I was wondering the restaurant looking for the boxes. The ONLY reason they received a 3 star rating is because the servers were very friendly and we loved looking at all of the old toys they had around the place. I think this place needs to get a renovation though. Would go back only if a friend or family invited me back but I wouldn’t choose to go there on my own.

Food was good. Best onion rings I’ve ever had. Burgers were pretty good. Buns were sorta plain. Décor is ultra cool — really retro. Service was weird. Ordered chili with no cheese and she brought it with cheese and said ‘he put cheese on it before I could tell him not to’. So weird that she didn’t just tell the cook to make another. Didn’t really piss me off, we actually thought it was hilarious. We were asking each other at what point she WOULD have pushed back on the cook. We wondered if for example it could get to ‘hey he made you tilapia instead of chili and gave it to me before I could tell him’. Just funny — no big deal, I actually liked the cheese. Neat place, worth the visit. Allow lots of time. Food was a 3, service was a 2, décor was a 4. Nice girl, prolly just learning. We’ll try again someday and upgrade the score if the service is better.

This place was good. I wish there were a three and a half star because I was torn between a 3 and a 4. The décor in this place was really cool. It is like an antique toy museum. I really like that. The prices were ok, the service was good, and the food was good. I will certainly go back at some point. However, I reserve 4 starts for places that I am going to bet back to asap and while I like this place I’m not feeling the urge to rush back. In the end this place is certainly worth a try. Keep in mind that there isn’t much separation between the bar and the dining room so if you are taking children ask to be seated away from the bar if you want to shield them from adult conversation.

We wisited the Tavernette this evening and used a printable Entertainment discount. The discount was buy one get one up to 10.00. This is as restaurant lost in time. Open since 1939, this place was probably last updated in the early 70’s. They claim to cut their own meat, and I have to day, my tenderloin was perfect. It was cooked exactly to rare and served on a sizzler platter. My side, well done home fries with onions in them were superb. The salad was chopped iceberg with a ridulous amount of carrots and onions. The ranch dressing was homemade and very good. The croutons were also homemade, and very delicious. The meal begins with the relish tray which consisted of pickles, kraut, and cottage cheese. A basket of bread and crackers accompianed. I haven’t seen a relish tray since the early 80’s, but it was a nice surprise. The booths and chairs were turquoise and orange. The walls knotty pine and a 70’s fireplace in the center of the room. In display cases, and up hig on shelves, the walls are adorned with every vintage toy imaginable. They even gave the baby a vintage booster chair from the 1950’s!(too cool) Unassuming on the outside and a flashback on the inside. Defintely worth the trip to Medway.
