I was visiting my brother and his family and this place is a few minutes from my brother’s house, so I figured I would give it a try. When we walked in we were greeted with a warm welcome. The menu is simple: burgers, hot dogs, cheese steaks, and fries… oh and milk shakes. I ordered a cheese steak and my husband got a turkey burger. We did not dine in we got it to go, but while we waited we sat in the dinning area. The dinning area is small but clean and there were about 6 – 8 tables outside so you can eat in front of the establishment. Hubby said his burger was really good. He also got the loaded french fries(cheese, bacon, sour cream). He got a whole carrying tray full so he ate some the next day. I got a cheese steak… but thought the quality of meat could have been better based on other cheese steaks I have gotten in Philadelphia and locally. The steak meat was very thin and didn’t have much flavor, but it was okay. I liked the fries. So the big question… will I come back? Of course I will, there is still other stuff to try.

I had the cowboy burger and french fries. The burger was perfection and the fries were incredibly fresh. The staff were courteous and quick to bring out our order. Great place to bring the family. I will definitely be making a return trip to sample the rest of their menu.

It was okay. I got a cyclops burger(fried egg and bacon) and cheese fries. It was pretty good, nice comfort food. but nothing out of the ordinary. Staff was friendly. When you order, you can see everything going on in the kitchen. Looked clean.

OMG — found this place after living in the area for 41 years. Not sure how long they have been here but I have been several times in the last year and all of their food is excellent. Friendly staff. Best onion rings by far and their Wimpy Sauce is EXCELLENT!!! We go here alot! Love the rewards program.

I have driven by this place a few times over the last couple of months and finally decide to stop in for lunch. When I pulled in is about 1:45. The sign on the door said they were open until 2PM. When I walked in I ask the person who was working if I would be able to get some lunch. He looked up at the clock and said they close in five minutes and that he was sorry. As a turn to walk out the door disappointed I noticed that all of the chairs were already on top of the tables and that everything was cleaned up 15 minutes before they were supposed to close. I’ll give them a two star rating because well quite frankly I have no idea how the food is but I can tell you how the customer service is… not very will give them a try again if I’m in the area. Hopefully next time I can get some lunch.

I tried the veggie burger and a basket of fries. So many fries! The veggie burger was decent. Between the two I wasn’t able to finish everything but I did enjoy what I had. Interior is different, a lot of white tile and counters but I felt like it added to the overall retro vibe of the establishment. Plenty of seating options for a relatively smallish space. My only negatives were cost(almost $ 15 for a veggie burger, fries and a drink) and the fact that the food items came out one by one so that my boyfriend had his hot dog for awhile before I was served a basket of fries, his fries came out later and lastly, after a wait, came my veggie burger. I’d prefer everything to come at once. But I’m still glad I went and if I find myself back in the area I’d definitely go back, this time ordering the small fry instead of large.

My +1 loves the steak and eggs with peppers. It’s replaced the French toast made with raisin bread as #1.

Burgers here are good if you are looking to support local business and want something a bit better than the chains. Surprisingly tonight, no one had a burger. Two of us order dogs(and their big) — the Texas Dog with fried onions and chipotle barbecue sauce and the Chili Cheese Dog. Both very good and finished with gusto by the two that ordered them. I wanted something different so I went for the buffalo chicken sandwich. It was not clear if this was a cheese steak or something else, so I asked and they said they would make it any way I wanted it. I went for the chicken tenders. I was disappointed that the tenders were the frozen kind. They chopped them, tossed them with hot sauce and put American and blue cheese on it. Will NOT order that again. Fries are good, but they have always used cheap ketchup here that has no flavor to it. They have tables in and out so when the weather is nice you can sit outside. Be prepared to deal with the noise on Providence Rd(Rt 252). They close at 8PM so come early…

Counter staff very friendly, like the atmosphere, roll & toppings very generous. ‘Tipping is good Karma’ :) Sadly, NY hot dog was under cooked, sauerkraut had no bite and while I maybe should have mentioned raw onions, they were sauté to over done. Tried homemade potato chips, please ask to cook well as more then ½ basket potatoes were raw. Cook did offer to fry more but needed to get back to work. May be worth 2nd try?

Service needs some thought… Went with 8 for lunch just prior to the lunch rush. Pleasant enough staff but the way they take your order is just stupid. They don’t take your name and when your food is ready, they walk around the place yelling out what’s on the plate. Why not take a first name and get a clue? Two of us ordered the combo and then had to remind them that it came with fries. The food is good and well made, open kitchen and clean. Good value for the money but again, the service is weak.

Love this joint. So friendly and the quality is hard to top… the quintessential mom and pop burger shop and perfect for Media. The cowboy burger is my favorite, but all the burgers I’ve tried have been excellent. For a few dollars more than McDonald’s you can get a fresh cooked to order burger that is hard to beat. Fun fry options, too. A true family institution, I’m always happy to bring my family here for a burger night out(or in… a short ten minute wait from call to pick up every time, though they do also deliver). The members reward program is also a super friendly touch and one we are happy to be a part of!

Buffalo chicken cheesesteak YESPLEASE! This place shreds the meat versus cubing and really cares about the quality of the meat. The people there are pretty friendly and there’s nothing better than a great sandwich at a picnic table on a weekend afternoon. Great stop when I’m back in Philly.

So, the kids working in this joint seem like they work well together. They have good personalities and they’re respectable. But somebody’s got to teach this crew some food safety. If the cook’s not wearing gloves on the grill, fine, I can live with that. But when he passes cooked food off to the guy wrapping and preparing baskets(let’s call him the expediter), you’d expect that they would try not to touch the actual burger. But they do. Nobody wears gloves. Both the cook and expediter were not wearing gloves, and the expediter kept wiping his hands on his shirt and shorts. And they were both answering the phone and taking money. No gloves. No soap and water. Just money, phone, meat, lettuce, tomato, bun, all touched after being cooked. That’s not cool. The fries were great. They held up to all of the condimentation I could throw at them, and had great texture and taste. The burger I had was over cooked, dry and had some kind of weird taste, as if it were spiced like a meatball and cooked on a dirty grill top. It seemed like the same meat you’d find in a school cafeteria. I’m not sure what kind of training is done here, but if the owner is reading this, I’d get on top of these issues before somebody gets sick. Paying $ 14 for a burger, fries and shake is ok, if what I’m ordering is top notch quality. I left here feeling cheated. I’m going to eat here again in the near future to see if maybe it was a fluke. Hopefully I’ll see some changes. I’d love to be able to leave a better review. It’s a great little spot with potential to be as good as any other place. They just have to take some time to look at the product and be more sanitary.

Wow. Wow. delicious burgers. I stopped by fir an early lunch with coworker. I ordered the ring of fire burger and he ordered the cowboy burger. We split half to share and folks I most say I’m picky with burgers but this place rocks. For a small eatery the staff are friendly always asking if we needed anything or if the food was to our liking. I would definitely recommend this place.

So Wimpy’s has decided to try their hand at breakfast. They just started this past week. After a few days of driving past on my way to work this week, my curiosity was piqued. I had some time on Thursday so I stopped in. Now, since it was the first week of doing this, they weren’t too busy. So I had the most attentive service possible and had some time to chat with the guys behind the counter. It’s interesting to me how a small business like this is trying something out of their comfort zone, and especially when you have a lot of breakfast places in Media to contend with. In order to set yourself apart, not only do you have to do the basics right, you have to be unique. And I think they’re working on the unique part. The basics… My bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel was spot on. They grilled the bagel up nice. It was a good bagel which I’m told they get shipped from New York. Nothing like that sandwich when it’s made right, and it was made right. The unique… So they don’t do French Toast or pancakes yet. They’re building the menu and may do it sometime. But, they let me try a sample of their grilled sweet bread with cream cheese and raspberry preserves. It’s like French Toast without the batter. It doesn’t need the batter. That was decadent. I really think they’re on to something. What we have here is a local, small business trying to build something up. I think it’s worth it to give them a shot. You already know they make a great burger. Let them impress you with breakfast too. And yes, a burger for breakfast can be had with bacon and egg. I know there are a few of you who want to try that out.

The family loves this place… fresh burgers, fresh French fries, onion rings and shakes make it a special treat. My wife loves the Cowboy burger, I love Chipotle burger(and the Steakhouse) and my daughter loves a plain burger. As stated above, we love the sides. You can’t go wrong with Wimpy’s.

Oh that aroma of Angus being grilled is just heavenly to ones senses. That is the first thing you encounter once entering Wimpys, inviting you to let your inner animal instincts come out. I am a carnivore to the fullest with establishments like this, it’s hard not to just go into attack mode. From the outside it looks like an ordinary house in Media, but my friends it’s not. Located on 252 about a ½ mile off the ramp from RT.1 you might want to drive at a normal to slow pace if you are driving thru Media. I myself found out real quick how fast Wimpys came up, you might miss this place if you’re not paying attention. Wimpys is a house that was converted into an amazing burger spot. As I entered I was greeted by David,(fellow Italiano) the owner of Wimpys, great guy, a patient guy also, as I was just in awe of that glorious menu. I didn’t know where to go, I felt like ordering all of his specialty burgers, simply because they all looked mouthwatering. Not only did the burgers get my attention but the wings, different assortment of fries, dogs, to cheesesteaks down to what kind of milkshake did I want to go with! I was perplexed! I had to take a moment here, this was a tough decision on my part. This is something you don’t rush into, again I applaud David and his crew with their patience, to them this was somewhat comical. I went with a combo added another 2 dollars for a cookies and cream milkshake with an order of wings to go. My burger I ventured off with a Cowboy Bacon cheese burger that came with an onion ring on top. This was amazing, the carnivore in me went to attack mode with their homemade chipolte barbecue sauce making as a nice blanket covering this beauty. My first bite into this work of art was an explosion of flavors, literately I bit into it and it was a burst. This perfectly 6 oz hand made seasoned burger was nothing short of phenomenal. Words could not be expressed, just my simple little groans and moans of just heaven with every bite. This is why places like this should always be on your list, not the chain joints. With my delicious burger this came with fries, but I was more into the burger which again is a MUST order. With every bite I would slurp down an unbelievable tasting milkshake. I love places that offers milkshakes, good milkshakes make it an even better experience I think. Also I ordered hot wings to go seeing I couldn’t resist the fact these guys make them. I must admit I had to try 1 or 4 of them before leaving. Big, meaty, cooked crispy wings, there is nothing better I feel. David, well I feel I can call him Dave by now, actually does care about his patrons inside. He would periodically leave the counter and make his rounds asking how everything is, what did they enjoy or what could have made it better. Personally you can’t get any better than this. With an owner like this, this tells you he cares, also the staff members inquire if everything was good. You can’t find this at a chain location, places like this are considered«Gems», and no that expression is not over used. Great location, great service, hand made seasoned burgers, top quality, yea it doesn’t get any better. Now stop reading take a drive and indulge! P.S. A little side note that I noticed after enjoying my meal. Wimpys has an «Ultimate Challenge» where the winner gets a shirt and a picture for life on their Wall of Fame! What is the challenge in case you are curious, well I’ll tell you ! This challenge is(3) 6 oz burgers stacked with cheese sauce, bacon, and onion rings.(Not done yet) Also in this adventure this is wrapped in 2 grilled cheese sandwiches with a basket of fries. To wash it down they also give you a delicious thick milkshake, all to be done in 15 min time. You see I had it all the way up to the milkshake part, but I am confident and plan to train for this, who is in with me?

I used to live near here before I became a Unilocaler. In a moment of nostalgia, I drove out of my way to get here and wasn’t disappionted. The handmade shakes(thick and flavorful) are still the best thing about the place. I like the burgers, but don’t love them. There’s something about the taste of the bun that I’ve never been able to decide if I like or not. But, the texture is good. It has a soft flakiness to it. I think that fries are nothing to write home about. They also have an expanded hotdog menu from the last time I was in, so I’ll be sure to try one next time.

I remember when this place opened years ago, as it was on my route home from work. As an old Popeye fan, I was amused by the name and as a burger fan, I was intrigued to check it out. While on my route to work, my commute times didn’t jibe with stopping in, plus it’s near a section of 252, where, at certain times, you just want to get through as quick as possible and not stop, so I never tried it. I have since changed both my work and living locations, so I rarely find myself in this area but any time I think about burgers, I always think about Wimpys as «the one that got away. Recently, I was headed towards the old neighborhood, trying to decide where to eat and I almost slammed in the brakes when passing Wimpys. It was finally time. It has a neat little homey décor, that is larger than it seems from the outside. While they tout themselves as a burger joint, they seem to have a number of other sandwich options that look good. It was burger time though, and I ordered myself a simple bacon cheeseburger and fries. The meal didn’t blow me away but it was comparable to 5 Guys both in quality and price. Upon reading other reviews, I’m interested to go back and try some of their other food options. I definitely recommend hitting this place up, if you are in the area as opposed to hitting a fast food chain. You gotta love someone trying to sell a good burger . Lastly, I like that the guy taking my order had a good sense of humor when I asked him if I could pay him Tuesday for a hamburger today. He laughed and said, «While we make a burger that would make Wimpy proud, we don’t subscribe to his payment plan.»
