Johnny is the Best bartender!!! He’s was so fast with refilling my drinks and had my dinner ordered before I even realized!

Great place to stop for good food, great drinks and great conversation — especially if you don’t feel like going into Philly on a Saturday night. Looking for a lively place to hang out with the flair of warmly toned traditional public house décor, then you’ve come to the right spot! If you plan on going on a night where there’s live music or on Tuesday Night Trivia, make sure to arrive early! Not sure what to order? You can’t go wrong with the Sligo Burger with a side of fries. Don’t leave without trying either the Apple Sangria or Caramel Apple Martini. Trust me…

We were in PA for the weekend visiting from FL and found Sligo for some late afternoon snacks. Good, friendly service. The crab & spinach dip and baked macaroni & cheese with broccoli appetizers were delicious. If I lived in or near Media this would be my regular place.

A great place for a pint of Guinness. I used to love the food, but a few years ago they must have changed cooks because it just hasn’t been as good. Other than that though I’ve always had a solid experience

we went here to the upstairs room for a catered meeting event. the food was very good. there was an excellent selection of mid level foods veggies cheeses salads and appetizers, a lot of plastic plateware knives and forks, and plenty of seating room. there was a service attendant to help with food. we had an open/cash bar which was nicely appointed and an excellent bartender. i dont actually drink but my diet cokes were great. i do tip well which was appreciated. they are pros at this place, not kids pretending to be restaurant people. i gotta say, that’s what i like. we had live music – an older fella on an organ/electric keyboards playing the nuttiest keyboard filled versions of rock songs ever – kind of a cross between elevator music and soft rock! i really liked it — strange but great! and not too loud, so we all could mingle & talk. after the event wound down, the attendants asked if we wanted to take food home – and they had plenty of containers to doggy bag the food in! everyone took two big containers of food home. we did – we have hungry boys at home! so, excellent catered event. not really a review of the downstairs or the bar, but if you wanted to cater a group event, this a a good pick, and centrally located in Media, PA.

Sligo is a decent spot on The main state street of media. Always a lovely location, however could use a face life in the eating section. The carpet and ambiance are dark and old. The food is good for grub bar food, but could stand some creativity. Tasty, though! Decent service and quick.

Sligo’s has the potential to be so much better. An early dinner Saturday night brought slow service, their limited menu, and mediocre food. Tiny wine pour for my wife, too. At a place whose only appeal seems to be the bar. What’s the point?

Loved this place when we lived in Media. When the weather is nice this is a great bar to go to. Big open windows and outdoor seating. It gets pretty crowded but the food and drinks are great!

We ate at the Glenn Mills location a few months ago and had one of the best burgers ever. It was everything s great burger should be. It was big, juicy and full of flavor. I was looking forward to a repeat at the Media location last night. The burger I got was bland. I don’t even think they put salt in it. Just flavorless. It was a bit of a letdown. Prior to going, my wife also looked at their website and saw some specialty cocktails that she wanted try. When she asked about them, she was told that the specialty cocktails menu she saw was for the Glenn Mills location, but the website said it was for the Media location. She even showed me the site and yep, she was correct. So she was a little disappointed. I wasn’t very disappointed because those things get expensive. Everything else was pretty good. The wings were big and flavorful. Also tried the ‘real crab fries’. They were also good. A little like dipping french fries into a thick crab bisque soup but it worked. The service was good and friendly.

Thankful it’s a non-smoking bar, which is a bit hard to find here in PA. Casual, comfortable — I liked it.

Just ok. Craft beer list on web site and actual beers available are totally different. Webmaster, just remove the beer list completely on the site and say«Beer available». Small menu, we struggled to find something interesting. Wife and friend had burger, both felt it was relatively tasteless. Other had roast beef sandwich and it literally fell apart in his plate. He used a fork. I had fish and chips with two small fish sticks and a pile of fries to make it worth the $ 14. It’s your basic local bar. Better choices on State Street for food. Good for last round before you head home.

This is a great neighborhood place that I frequent for the Thursday happy hour special. My boyfriend is obsessed with their oysters. He not only loves the quality and price(they are $ 1 on Thursday), but also the size. He calls them«oyster steaks» because they are quite often pretty big. I do not eat oysters, but do like to tag along because they have a great rotating selection on tap. My favorite thing is that during happy hour I can get a 5 pour flight for $ 5. This way I get to try a good portion of what’s on tap before ordering a full beer. The service is generally really friendly and very prompt. The one thing I did not care for was the crab cake. That is the only thing I would not recommend here that I have tried.

I had lunch here on a Saturday. Sat at the bar. Service was friendly and attentive. Food was good, but nothing special. They had 6 craft beers on tap — not as many as a place like Quotations, but it’s good that they had any at all I guess. Food menu is a bit small. Wish there were more things to choose from. I would probably go back if I was craving Irish food like bangers and mash or shepherd’s pie.

Gotta update here because I believe that you should spend your hard earned money somewhere else! This place is the WORST. Before I said I would have a beer here before moving on, but that was before I actually learned what a despicable person the owner is. He is pompous, rude, and extremely unfriendly and I don’t believe that a person who has this personality should run a pub. End of story, I won’t spend another dime here.

I have worked in the industry for 5 years and I cannot believe how incredibly unprofessional Sligo has been. They charged my card for someone else’s tab and gave my debit card to someone else and that individual subsequently spent a great deal of money. Huge issue with the bank, cancel and replace my card etc. When I called to speak to a manager I was told for 3 days that there was«not a manager there»… I understand that accidents do happen but I expect at least a courtesy phone call for an employee error that resulted in such chaos. When I finally did speak with a manager he let me know that he had never heard any messages, he wasn’t sure what I wanted him to do and that it is a «drinking establishment… mistakes happen» indicating maybe the bartender was drunk? There are enough bars in Media to avoid such a horrible experience again.

Came in with my wife while visiting Media, we did a mini pub crawl, her and I, and as always stopped for a pint in Sligo. Love this place. Reminds me a little of Dublin, the bartender was attentive, the apps were spot on, had some witty banter with a local lawyer, just a real nice experience on a very low key day. I will definitely be back. Spoke to the bartender for a bit and we are looking forward to some Fall and Winter specials coming up on the menu. Nothing beats hearty comfort food and a Stout in the colder months.

Somewhere between Meh and A-OK. I attended a meeting here in the front bar area at the tables behind the bar. Happy hour was ending so there were some luke-warm mozzarella sticks and dried out wings in a chafing dish. Yuck.(But free.) The food I ordered(albeit a garden salad) was fresh but boring. Others plates looked unappetizing — fish & chips was a huge piece of fish in a THICK coating of batter.(And chips which I don’t eat). Servers were pleasant and owner is a wonderful supporter of the community and my kid’s school — but I am not impressed by the«classic» pub fare. Also it gets LOUD in there, but that is a sign of a good pub. Blah.

This Irish themed bar has a solid if unspectacular selection of craft beers on tap. Prices are about what you’d expect for the neighborhood. No one had any complaints about the meal, though I can’t say there was anything notable about the stew I had. For the size of the place, you’d think they would have larger than one person restrooms. I didn’t have any of the problems with service that have been mentioned. Both the bar and the servers seemed to be properly staffed for a Saturday afternoon.
