I’ve been in here a few times regarding repair work. I’ve been met both times with excellent service and no pressure /up-selling. The minimum amount for debit card/credit card is 10 dollars, when i told them i only had an debit card for a 5 dollar repair, I was told, just drop in next time and tell us you owe us 5 dollars. I offered to have him charge me 10 $ and they wouldn’t do it. He didn’t feel right about it. Well I didn’t feel right walking out the door with out paying so, I returned 15 minutes later after visiting the ATM machine with the 5 dollars. Its great service that will keep me going back time and time again.

I have had several experiences with this jeweler, and I can’t say that I’ve been satisfied. The first experience was when I took my mother’s diamond anniversary band into the store so that they could take the diamonds from it and make a custom wedding band to fit securely with my pear-shaped engagement ring. I took my engagement ring and the anniversary band into the store and was assured that they would make something that fit snugly and looked good. When I got the wedding band back, I was absolutely shocked at how hideous it looked. They didn’t actually make a custom setting at all. They took the center stone from the anniversary band out in order to make space for the pear diamond on the engagement ring, and that was about it. It didn’t match at all with the engagement ring, and it didn’t fit snugly at all. If I were to wear both rings, the diamonds would have rubbed up against each other. Also, the settings were totally different on both rings. I was devastated, and ended up buying a different wedding band altogether and returning the anniversary band to my mother. She took it to her jeweler and had all of the diamonds put into a different setting. I was shocked that they did not advise me that A. the diamonds didn’t match the clarity of the diamonds of the engagement band, or B. that they would not actually be making a custom setting at all. It was a really horrible experience and the final product was atrocious. The second experience I had here was when my husband went to get a new watch band for his watch. This isn’t something that could get screwed up, right? Yeah, well, that’s what we thought. They presented my husband with a few bands that would fit/match with his watch head, and he selected one. When he went to pick up the watch he realized that the metal on the band was gold, and the metal on the watch was silver. How does a jeweler not point that out? From my perspective, it’s their obligation to inform you about how a piece will ultimately look. Shame on my husband for not noticing this, but shame on Doubet for not helping him make an informed choice and warning him that he selected a watch band with a metal that clashed with the watch face. We will have to buy a new watch band(that matches with the face) and get it put on. Basically, we just wasted $ 35 getting this watch fixed. The last, and most recent experience I had here was not as horrible as the first, but still speaks to the unreliable-ness of this shop. I took a ring here to get sized up(it was my grandmother’s engagement ring, and I got it as a present from my mother). Needless to say, I was very excited to get this ring back. Well, I drop it off on a Monday, and hadn’t heard anything about the ring for a while. I called a week later, on a Tuesday, and was told that yes, the ring was ready. Why I had to call them to find this information out, I don’t know. So I send my husband on the same day to pick up the ring, and when he arrives he finds that the shop had closed early. OK, fine. Whatever. He was cutting it close, and the closed a bit early, let’s just call it a fluke. So, he went back this past Thursday to pick the ring up only to find that the store was closed. All day. Completely closed. Why is this? I don’t know. The hours on the website say that the shop is open from 9 – 5 Monday through Thursdays. So, I call today(a Friday) to make sure their hours are what they say on the website(9:30−5:30), and I find out that they’re actually only open until 5:00. Good thing I called, right? At any rate, the ring I got back was fine and fits as it should. After all these experiences, I can’t say that I’ll ever return to Doubet or recommend their services to anyone else. It doesn’t seem to matter if you’re paying them to do something very serious and complicated, or something as simple as replacing a watch band. The guidance they offer you is, at best, non-existent, and at worst, misleading. The fact that their hours are not accurately reflected on their website is extremely frustrating, and shows that they don’t value your time or business.
