Very simple setup, cash only, never open past noon, hardly any tables, coffee approximately equal to Dunkins. The breakfast sandwiches are quick, cheap and delicious. Nothing fancy — American cheese and bagels or english muffins. But they’re good. The muffins are tasty, and they’ll grill them for you, which I’d recommend.

This place is excellent! I just happened to be across the street getting my car fixed at Mallett Automotive(5 stars), and the guy recommended this place! Boy am I glad he did! I had a breakfast sandwich — this place is GREAT!!! Wow, I would definitely make the trip up here just for this place. The staff is really friendly and know most of their customers by name and order! And they make delicious breakfast sandwiches straight from breakfast sandwich heaven. Definitely coming back here! My singular complaint is that this place is cash only, unfortunately. There are multiple credit card services that they can use now. As people carry less and less cash, credit card machines become more important. But it appears that people who come here are not surprised as they are mostly regulars. Anyway, this is literally my only complaint. Four stars because I think it’s a big deal. Great place! Don’t miss it, but bring cash!

There is one thing that I am absolutely sorry for and that is for not having becoming your patron sooner. With deep regrets, I surely wished that for the numerous times that I’ve driven past your muffin shop, I would have come in, point, exchange and smile, and be merry throughout my day. It pleases me to know that they are THE muffin purveyors of this side of Medford’s tracks. The early risers(the bakers, not the muffins) are pleasant and efficient and had guided me to choose what would be the best part of my day. It has been so long that I’ve enjoyed a good lemon poppy; flakey, non-greasy and totes full of lemony pops. Large in size and so many varieties to taste. And best yet, muffins only cost $ 2-flat. No fumbling around in your pocket or running back to you car for spare change. See, they have already thought of starting your day fast, fresh, and deliciously easy. No need to say much more, except that I must come back to partake in their other offerings.

Jetlagged and wide awake at 5am on a Saturday I followed my Dunkin Donuts app that told me one of their stores was walking distance from my location. Once I got there I saw the Magnificent Muffin & Bagel Shoppe across the street. Given the choice between corporate and privately owned business, I’ll always go with the small business owner. In this case, my instant karma came to me in the form of a great breakfast served to me by wonderful people. Couldn’t recommend this place more. If it’s open, please go there and not Dunkin Donuts. You can get DD anywhere. I recommend the cinnamon scones as well.

Coming all the way from Houston, Texas, this place by far surpassed any and all expectations. The staff was super friendly, there wasn’t a terrible wait. My husband and I shared a Apple Blueberry Cinnamon Muffin, an Asiago Cheese Bagel and a «Big Bacon» sandwich. We wanted to try a little of everything. The muffin was divine, sweet without being cloying, and big enough that we had to bring the rest for the ride up to Maine. The bagel was lightly toasted without sacrificing the inner chewiness, and had just a hint of the cheese baked into it. The big bacon sandwich featured a bagel as described above, with bacon cooked to crisp perfection.

Place packs, and the reason is obvious: giant muffin tops. The counter-culture is grab and go at this Medford mainstay, which I’d wager is largely unaltered in its decades of existence. Breakfast sandwiches, including the meat, egg and cheese on a giant English, still don’t break the $ 4 mark, and the eggs are fried to order. And the muffins? Magnificent, duh, although the expectation should be set they’re of the cakey, moist variety, with a sugared tacky exterior. If you want crumbling, close-to-scone pastries, go elsewhere. You’ll find nine flavors(think banana nut, red velvet, blueberry) in the bakery case, presented rustically in the tins that baked them. Top to stem ratio is a tremendous 5:1, so dive in. Dive in to your muffin. Muffin dive. The only thing sweeter than their baked goods are the folks who run the joint. Can you give a hug with a knowing glance? Stop in for breakfast and find out.

My best friend from college lives in Medford and anyyyyy time I make a trip to Boston I force her to take me here for breakfast. Even though there’s a ton of choices in Somerville, I’d rather wait in line here. You can tell it’s a Mom and Pop kind of place. There’s quite a few older ladies who work behind the counter and there are family photos everywhere. Bacon, egg and cheese with cheddar is delicious. I’d give them five stars but I’m from Jersey and their bagels just aren’t thattt good. But the muffins are what you need to order. Moist(hate the word but describes them perfectly,) fresh, right from the muffin tins. There are a limited amount made. Apple crumb, blueberry raspberry crumb, banana nut, coffee cake, each one is better than the next, and there are always different flavors. Delicious.

unbelievable ownership, the people are saints, but stop with the space is crowded, its crowded because the product is that good. you cant get a better muffin… choc chip, the pistachio… personal favorite the sour cream. oh so good. the breakfast sandwiches are also good but I find it hard to polish off a muffin and the sandwich at the same time. and the muffins are to good to pass up. even tho I cant make a b fast sandwich as good at home im sure the muffin experiment would turn out much worse.

I just discovered this place about a month ago and I can now tell you my weekend is not complete without a pistachio muffin from Magnificent Muffin & Bagel Shoppe. I am in absolute love. My boyfriend also says it is the best breakfast sandwich he has had north of Boston! Iced coffee is great too! It’s Sunday so that means I’ll be there in about an hour for my weekly muffin fix.

This place deserves the extra«pe» at the end of its name… and also the«magnificent» at the beginning. Every muffin they make is the best muffin of its kind that I’ve had. And an anomaly: the bottom is even better than the top! They also have great bagel breakfast sandwiches and the best prices($ 2.50 for said sandwich) for a shop like this in the area. The employees are all friendly even when getting bombarded by the morning crowd. Love it.

I really do love this place because their muffins are to die for. They’re so fresh and moist. The service is good, everyone is really friendly and attentive. I love the neighborhood feel and you can’t beat the prices. However, I had to only give 3 stars because I just don’t think their bagels are anything special. The last 2 times I’ve been there they’ve tasted stale and have been hard to chew. Not sure what that’s all about but it’s been pretty disappointing.

When you have a bagel craving, your best bet in the surrounding area is Magnificent. The chive cream cheese is some of the best I’ve had in Boston. The sandwiches are good and very reasonably priced. The muffins are the best item there. They rotate flavors regularly, but the staple blueberry is one of my favorites. My husband says the coffee is a hit or miss. This place is cash only.

I actually can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this place yet. I am not a daily patron but I love this place, it’s our go-to for a quick breakfast sandwich. Now that I commute via the train, it’s likely to become a more frequent stop. Pro-tip: if you know what you want, call ahead. Maybe I shouldn’t give that secret away, then we’ll have a pickup line. but it has really helped for those mornings when I can’t wait through 10 people ordering iced coffee to order, then wait for my breakfast sandwiches.(Edited to add: make sure you’re calling the Medford location. They’ve been good about reminding you that you’re calling West Medford, I guess they’ve cooked enough sandwiches that never got picked up…) This is a great neighborhood local business. I’ve been going there for four+ years — not frequently enough that they know my name, but enough that they know who I am. There are a lot of regulars, a lot of neighborhood chit-chat, a lot of friendly people, overly friendly people, not as friendly people, lots of kids, lots of lines, sometimes waiting because someone is having a conversation with the staff and something doesn’t quite happen at the speed of snapping fingers — but that’s all part of why I like this place(and why I call ahead if I gotta catch a train)! Breakfast sandwich all the way. To echo a previous reviewer, ask for salt and pepper. I’ve never sampled their muffins, but if you can eat muffins, they have such interesting flavors. They have a lot of coffee options, and it’s good coffee; last I checked, you can get a bit of a discount if you bring your own travel mug. Unless it’s a Sunday, don’t park in the post office lot, park in the Rite Aid lot. I mean, by all means walk, but if you can’t, just… make it easier on yourself. Or better, park at the Dunkin’ donuts and walk across to the Muffin Shoppe.(sorry-sorry; no, I do go to the Dunkin’ too, I don’t mean to seem like I’m… yeah nevermind) Ahem. If you’re in West Medford, go here for breakfast. If you’re an early riser, she opens super early(baker’s hours!) But don’t go for breakfast at 1pm, they’ll be closed.

I was very excited to come to this place today, based on the reviews– and I was not disappointed. Who could go to Dunkin when this gem is across the street? The line was long, but it moves very fast. The space is small, so I would recommend taking the food out to go. I ordered a half dozen muffins to go. Each muffin is the size of two muffins. These puppies are HUGE– the tops have crispy edges– a personal preference for me when it comes to muffins. The main part of the muffin was also moist and delicious; no butter was necessary. We tried the Blueberry, Apple Blueberry Cinnamon, Apple Crisp, Pistachio, and Cranberry Orange Nut. My favorite was definitely the pistachio, though the Apple Blueberry Cinnamon was also delicious! Staff was super friendly and courteous — even when the lines got long and people were crowding in. Completely recommend to anyone who lives nearby or is visiting— like I was!

Best breakfast sandwich in the greater boston area. Unpretentious and CHEAP – $ 2.50 for a sandwich? Get out of here. The people who work there are insanely friendly. Ask for salt and pepper – it’s critical.

Wicked nice staff and very homey feel. The food tasted and felt like it was home made in a small kitchen(because it was; the kitchen is visible from the entrance). My g/f and I each had a muffin and shared an egg sandwich, both we’re very good. The Muffins far exceeded the sandwich though, you can make whatever sense of that you’d like. The lack of ambiance is part of the ambiance. I would love to get to know the nice ladies who work there if we didn’t love too far away.

If you couldn’t tell by the name, the muffins are magnificent. My fiancé and I split a blueberry muffin. Toasted and buttered, it melts in your mouth. A ton of other muffins we want to try(pistachio, sour cream coffee cake, pumpkin and more) We also split an everything bagel which was light and doughy. The veggie cream cheese was a little too tangy for us but the regular cream cheese is fine. Their ice coffee is great too. You can have any type over pellet ice. I had pumpkin iced coffee but they had Swiss chocolate almond, coconut and cinnamon bun. Delicious Definitely excited to go back and try more of the muffin flavors!

Delicious breakfast sandwiches! I am a fan of any place that uses fresh eggs and not that already-made-just-reheat-in-microwave egg crap. Turkey sausage in the sandwich… the little links, sliced in half and grilled. Yum! On a multi-grain bagel so I don’t feel as guilty eating it. but still getting the same satisfaction. And they cut it in half for you :)
