Loxx by Justine

Felt very rushed and unwelcomed here. Didn’t listen to my instruction as to what cut and color I wanted in my hair. Not worth the money to me.

I went to Loxx by Justine and saw Maria at the suggestion of a friend. I needed a Keratin treatment and couldn’t pay the Newbury St. prices. I decided to get a cut as well. I am so happy! I have thick, coarse, longer than shoulder length hair, Maria was great! She provided great advice and seemed to understand just what I wanted. The keratin was different than what I am used to and my hair is perfect! And, they give you shampoo and conditioner with the treatment. Nice! The salon is small and friendly and has the feel of a neighborhood place. I will be back even though I feel guilty cheating on my regular stylist. Thanks Maria for a great cut!

I’d never been to Loxx By Justine until Ellen Mackin started working here a month ago. I followed her from a much more expensive Newbury Street salon. She is the greatest! You can always trust her to provide the most beautiful, current styles. And she is a master of color and highlights. My best haircuts EVER were her work. Highly recommended!

I love coming to Justine’s! My hair looks INCREDIBLE every single time I leave, I’m so happy with the service here. Great job ladies! The interior is gorgeous too.

The previous reviews were probably written by family members or friends. I had a different experience from the phone call to make the appointment to the whole process.
The shop is way to small, and to add to injury, the employees hang around the desk gossiping and giving the «once overs» to clients entering the salon. I do not think their work is worth all the lack of space and buzzing that goes on. If you do not like salons where employees stare at you when you first enter, don’t go here!

Justine is awesome! I’ve been going to her for several years now and have always been impressed with her work. She is very knowledgable and really takes her time to make sure you are pleased with her work. I never hesitate to reccommend her to anyone looking for a great hairstyle!

As one of Justine’s first clients, I have been going to her for nearly seven years. She is an EXCELLENT hair stylist, willing to give recommendations to everyone to enhance their best features.
I have been impressed by Justine on many occasions, whether I had a particular style in mind, or if I just told her to do what she wanted with my hair. I have had every shade of blonde and brown hair (highlights, low lights, colorhance), along with short, and medium to long length cuts. Justine has even done extensions on my hair (she matched my color to the extensions perfectly). Even when I had some crazy ideas, like a hot pink streak through my hair, Justine was able to do it – and I got so many compliments! So, whatever you are looking for, she is sure able to give you that look.
Additionally, I have had haircuts, color treatments, and up-do’s by Kassandra and Micayla, shellac manicures by Maria, along with facials and waxing by Lisa. All stylists at this salon are exceptional, attending classes regularly to keep up with the current techniques and trends in hairdressing. The salon provides incredible customer service, one of the many reasons clients continue to go back to the salon :)
Further, I have recommended countless people to Justine’s salon, who have been satisfied, and then THEIR friends have asked where they get their hair done! Often, strangers will approach me asking who does my hair.

Typically, I have a hard time finding hair stylists because I like to keep my hair pixie-​cut-​short, and most stylists can’t handle cutting short hair like that. Not true with Loxx by Justine! I have had two appointments with Justine, the owner, and she does a wonderful job with my cuts. Everything is to my satisfaction, and she doesn’t let you leave without approving the haircut in its entirety. She’s very professional and nice, and she really listens to what you say. Added bonus: if you bring in pictures and she can 100% replicate them.
The only real downside to the salon is the size (which is why I gave it 4 stars). It’s very small, and there are always a thousand people inside (I’ve been twice and both times it was very crowded). It’s not the end of the world, but it can get a little claustrophobic. If there are other people waiting for cuts, they’re sometimes sharing your mirror with you while you’re getting a haircut, because the waiting seats are literally right behind some of the salon chairs. And if you have to go to the bathroom, you kind of have to sneak around all of these different stations to get there. Everyone is really nice, and it’s a salon, so you should expect socialization, but it does seem like a tight squeeze. Great environment though, lovely decorations and colors, and they’re always offering you water or coffee.
Absolutely the best haircut and styling I’ve gotten in Boston, and this is coming from someone who has tried salons all over this city. Even the cuts I was getting on Newbury street weren’t as nice as this one. The employees are nice, everyone knows what they are doing, they offer multiple services (never tried them myself, but I see people in there getting all sorts of treatments), and above all, it’s not an unreasonable price for a great haircut.
If you have short hair, I would absolutely recommend this place.

This is my first Unilocal review ever, but definitely felt the needs once I saw the salon on here! I’ve had my hair done by Justine, Kassandra, and Mikaela. Not ONCE have I been disappointed. I’ve gotten foils, and I am super picky with my blonde color. Whatever the season, the girls give me the perfect tint! They always have an esthetician working for the perfect brow wax, Lisa you are amazing! The best part about the salon is that they are so accommodating, no matter what your needs are! Love this place!
