The food was Luke warm, the server was inattentive, and it wasn’t busy at all there. The coffee was ok, but I had to chase after the server several times for refills. I’m not going back.

A family friendly diner with all your breakfast staples. The service is fast and welcoming and the food is good. I had the corn beef hash with cheese and egg in a wrap, but the balance of the bite in the wrap was off. Either a bite of cheese or a bite of cornbeef and eggs. Nothing about this place scream amazing, but its a good standard diner at a reasonable price point.($ 6.50 for the wrap above) Cash only, but there is an ATM inside.

Expensive! Get ready to drop $ 25 on two omelettes with coffee before tip. Many other options out there for much less money.

It’s finally Saturday morning. You’ve shaken off the previous work week and a relaxing weekend always begins with hitting up one of the many local breakfast spots in the Malden/Medford/Somerville area. The questions then become: how long you want to wait, how much you’re willing to spend, how much noise you’re in the mood for, and how much do you want to fight for parking(if the food’s not good, it just doesn’t make the list… right?) So, based on my one single visit to Dempsey’s so far, this is how they stack up. The wait time was short and the staff were very professional. You immediately get the pleasant feeling that the restaurant is family operated. The cost is average for the area. It’s a little noisy when it’s full but nothing out of the ordinary. Parking is very convenient because there is a public parking lot walking distance from the restaurant. The food was good, not great. Eggs were the best part, fresh and cooked perfectly. Home fries were a bit bland and a bit undercooked and the pancakes were a little burnt. In short, convenience means I’ll surely be back… but when my tolerance for a slightly longer line and a longer walk from the car is higher, I’d go somewhere else.

NOEXAGGERATION, THISPLACEHASTHEBESTCOFFEEINAMERICA Heavenly Donuts formerly held the title in my unofficial record book for best coffee but Dempsey official swooped in out of nowhere and took the title They have THE best white chocolate, vanilla hazelnut, and snicker doodle coffee. They’re so good because the coffee flavored are ROASTEDBEANS, not syrup and oh my gosh you can definitely taste the difference on the spot It’s an out of this world experience– for iced coffee I really recommend the white chocolate and for hot coffee vanilla hazelnut is best Important tip– they stop serving the roasted flavored after 12pm and you have to go back to the syrup life. Their syrup coffees still taste as good as Dunkin Donuts(which don’t get me wrong I’m a die hard fan) Food is good too but the roasted coffee — AMAZING Oh and always plenty of street parking The staff is nice and friendly too Cash only !! WAIT– I ALMOSTFORGOT, GET A GRILLEDBLUEBERRYMUFFIN, ITWILLCHANGEYOURLIFEANDYOUWILLBESOHAPPYINSTANTLY. I honestly wish I could eat one every day for the rest of my life and never get fat

HUGE fan of Dempsey’s, usually here once a week. I’ll usually get an omelet because I love that they use fresh, not canned, mushrooms. The Italian omelet is awesome with mozzarella, basil and tomatoes — I get a grilled English muffin and home fries. I will heartily agree with everyone that their coffee is amazing, so I appreciate that they serve the iced coffee in a to-go cup. I always order a large iced so I can take it with me. All of their ingredients are fresh, the staff are quick and welcoming — we always get greeted with a smile when we walk in. While it is a bit cozy(maybe 20 tables?), the wait is never too long on the weekend. I’d say this is because of the quick service from the kitchen and the waitstaff. Plenty of parking — street parking, free lot about 150′ behind Dempsey’s. Cash only, but there’s an ATM inside.

1st time here and we will come back. Waiting was a bit confusing. We weren’t sure if they were taking names or you just waited for someone to leave. There was a large party in front of us and only tables open would not have fit them but none of the staff seemed to be able to seat parties of two. Either way it was around 10:30 and the wait wasn’t long. Our waitress was very prompt, helpful and nice. The food was good. The muffins looked good but I got the Ultimate breakfast cause I wanted a little of everything. Eggs were cooked perfect and the pancakes were large and tasty! Bacon was perfect too, not soft but not burnt. They even put cheddar cheese in my scrambled eggs which alot of places won’t or they will try to change your for an omelet. I usually only have one cup of coffee but is was very good so I had two. Will go back to try the muffins and egg sandwich.

Food was OK. I wasn’t greeted for a good 5 – 10 min which is annoying. Bread was kind of stale.

I go to Dempsey’s almost every Saturday morning and have yet to be disappointed. Their bagels are great and they give you more than enough cream cheese. Their OJ is also great and cures my never ending hangovers. Everyone there is nice and friendly, so don’t be basic like the rest of New England — if you’re in the area don’t go to Dunkin Donuts, go to Dempsey’s!!!

Do not attempt to eat here unless you have plenty of time and enjoy mediocre food. My husband and I went last Saturday and it was not that busy. Maybe 5 other tables with customers, howerver it took 20 minutes for a waitress to finally take our order. When the order came, I was missing the breakfast potatoes but but the time the waitress showed again we had finished eating. the food was just ok, not worth the aggravation. Go to Kellys diner in Somerville.

Get the grilled muffins. They will change your life. Also, the coffee here is solid.

Where to start, I don’t know if I was eating at the same place as the 4 star reviews… Coffee is very weak, when our food came out is was bland adding ketchup just made it worse. The ketchup is in a Heinz bottle. It is clearly not Heinz ketchup. Tasted like gross Catsup

I keep making the same mistake and going back to Dempsey’s. These are not great bagels. My most recent visit there will be my last. I phoned in 2 Egg, sausage, with extra cheese bagels. When I went to pick them up the order was over $ 20.00 I asked why so expensive? The cashier showed me the slip and I told her that’s not what I ordered, she did not acknowledge what I was telling her. I tried to explain to her and she rudely responded«let me get the girl who took the order cause I didn’t.» The teenage girl came over and I explained she gave me extra everything and that’s not what I ordered. After an awkward blank stare from her she responded” well that’s what we charge for extra everything.” Twilight Zone Response… finally the girl acknowledged that it was her mistake but that I had to pay the $ 20.00 for her mistake… I shook me head in disbelief, paid and left. I paid over $ 20.00 for 2 bagel breakfast sandwiches that DIDNOT have extra anything! When we got home to eat them, there was no extra anything 1 egg, 1 sausage and 1 slice of cheese. What a bad joke! Epic fail on her part, never again. Sad, because I believe in supporting local family owned businesses.

Wanted to do an update. We went for Breakfast again, and the service was great! My omelet was tasty, but not exceptional. I will say, that if you go to Dempsey’s you MUST get a grilled muffin! A hot toasty muffin, with creamy melted butter is so delicious. We shared a grilled pistachio muffin, and it did not disappoint! So glad we went back, and will be back again.

Agreed that this place was a pretty average breakfast place. Felt like average price, menu, service, I would go back, but I wouldn’t seek it out. The one thing I thought was a little different, that I liked, was that you can get a side of tomato instead of home fries. It’s nice because it’s healthier, but it is literally just plain slices of tomato.

My fiancé and I came here for the first time about 6 months ago because one weekend it was the only place open that we knew of… Since then, it’s been our go to place for Saturday or Sunday brunch. Sometimes there is a line, but somehow you never actually have to wait very long at all. Service is quick and friendly, and food is consistently good. We usually go beyond our own breakfast plates and also order a grilled pistachio muffin to split. We literally cannot pass it up.

I live in walking distance to this place. Finally got over there to try it a couple days ago. Got an omelet with the grilled English muffin. Great breakfast. My friend and I both ordered omelets and the bill came to $ 20. Seemed like there were a lot of regulars there. Cute neighborhood place and friendly staff. I’ll definitely be back!

Dempsey’s is located on the corner across from Asian Corner, and is entered with a single step up. Parking around here seems a bit tricky — be sure to read the signs as many spots note a 1 hour parking limit. Plenty of tables were available at 12:45pm one Saturday. We perused their menu and decided to share a Gyro Omelet(Tomato, Onions, Tzatziki Sauce) $ 9.75 with English muffin grilled, a side of Potato Pancakes $ 7.50, and a Grilled Muffin $ 1.99(triple berry) between the two of us. We enjoyed our meal though the outstanding part of it in my book was the sweet grilled muffin, served hot with a pleasant surface crisp and soft melting butter. I’d come back. Cash Only, as specified on the menu.

A Medford institution. Dempsey’s is a non-fussy place with a big heart. Because many people don’t think to come to this side of town, I’ve kindly created you a cheat sheet: 1) Wake up, put some clothes on(jeans, sweatpants, whatever will do, just please God, a shirt and shoes) 2) Don’t eat any snacks(Dempsey’s servings are large). 3) Drive to Dempsey’s(it’s located in Haines Square) 4) Park behind the Dunkin Donuts across the street(I promise it’s legal). 5) Wait to be seated(this place is a mad house, the servers are lovely, but if they don’t seat you, they won’t remember you exist) 6) Order the gyro omelette(or its sister dish the gyro breakfast sandwich) YUMMMMMS. The Gyro Omelette is eggs with tomatoes, onions, tzatziki sauce and beef gyro. It is delicious and filling and unexpectedly delicious 7) Convince your companion to order a grilled muffin(either the chocolate chip or the pistachio, both delicious). Steal said muffin from his plate and cover it in butter. Eat. Smile broadly. 8) Smily sweetly at your waitress.(This will ensure you a never ending supply of coffee refills). 9) Pay and leave happy. Summary: Dempsey’s isn’t fancy, but its a greasy spoon done right. For less than $ 10 you will leave full and happy, and possibly a whole lot more knowledgable about the hot Medfid gossip.
