I love blackbird and have always enjoyed shopping here but within the last 5 years their service has been absolutely terrible! I have not gone in there once in years and had good service, everyone is rude, they are annoyed when you need help, the cashiers don’t know what sales are going on or willing to find out to better suit you. Very much recommend their stuff but don’t expect anything but terrible service!

Where else in the Valley can you buy a snowboard, a new drill bit, a homebrewing beer and wine setup, a cowboy hat, and camping/fishing gear? Only at Black Bird! This is a wonderful and historic gem in the Valley – and the staff, while not always what you might call the most«polished» of folks, are some of the most friendly, down to earth and knowledgeable retail staff in the Valley – I LOVE it here. There is everything you need for pretty much… you guessed it… everything Black Bird. You can dress your family, buy camping gear and a gun, get a car battery, find tools and filters for the home, get a roof rack for your car… on and on. Support these guys and avoid the big boxes… while you pay a little bit more, you also know you are supporting a great homegrown Medford tradition, and helping a community keep it local. Oh, and don’t forget the Black Bird in front! A true iconic marker of the Medford area.

Stopped in to pick up some ammunition. Employee Mike, in the firearms section, assisted me. He was very pleasant and offered useful tips. Some of the ammo I wanted was out of stock(as it is in many places). Prices were decent, check out was quick. Will stop in again for more ammo and hope to again be assisted by Mike.

Reminds me of Grandpa Pigeons, no fancy fixins we ain’t trying to sell you the store. Midwest :) Just fantastic assortment of stuff /junk/stuff, the kind of store I can go to and find something I need at a great price! My favorite store in Medford! My 80 yr old father who is long gone Unfortunately would have loved this store, he could spend all day in there and come home with 3 dollars worth of Gold, it would have been his go to place to get out of the house. The staff acts like good family, very helpful, thankful you are supporting them. A joy to visit. Help the small store owner…

The staff is so rude, I’ll never be back. They were condescending and chattered to each other like I wasn’t even there.

If you need it they got it and customer service is great and they still have the miner birds but I don’t recommend teaching them to cuss as we did when kids

My husband loves this store! Lots of guns and outdoor gear and much more! I like the clothing and shoes, lots to choose from! Well known brands like Teva, Crocs, Columbia, Under Armour, Levi’s! Some things were pricey but they have a lot of sale items too, good deals! The day I went they had an outdoor sale in the parking lots with tank tops $ 6-$ 9 each and shorts for $ 15. The flip flops inside started at $ 25 in the womens section. We went to look at canoe supplies and guns. Oars were $ 35-$ 99! My husband found a gun clip there he couldn’t find anywhere else so he was happy! Pretty much anything outdoorsy is here! They even carry Oregon Ducks and Oregon State Beavers apparel/items! The blackbird in the store is entertaining, you can hear him while you shop everywhere in the store. The kid that opened the dressing room seemed like he hated his job though. This place is like Bi-Mart and Big R!

The last time I was in here was 1973 and very little had changed. Spent a good hour just walking around and did buy a couple items. I used to ride my sting ray down here and walk in awe around all the GI surplus items(I can still smell it!!). The surplus stuff is gone but the rest of the store is pretty much the same as it was. In this day of big box stores and no personality, it was a breath of fresh air to see life at «The Bird» is still the same! Gun selection was good as was the ammo selection. Prices seemed fair. Loads of outdoor clothing for both men and women(and kiddies!). My best to the folks there and will be back to buy something I don’t need soon.

This place was a wonder of childhood. I was hooked the first time my cousin brought me here on our stingray bicycles after school. It’s a local department store that has your — Sporting Goods — Camping — Guns & Ammo — Automotive — Hardware /Plumbing /Housewares — Clothing /Shoes — Upholstery …supplies all under one roof. Blackbird even has a jewelery dept. it’s easy to spend over an hour here just wandering around, looking at all the cool stuff they have. My first backpack and sleeping bag was purchased here, for a survival and navigation class outing, back in Jr. High. Years ago, they also had a couple of black birds in cages, that would say things to the customers wandering around inside(not sure of the species). Seems they still do… however they’re down to only one, now. For those coming here to raft down the Rogue River, this is a good place to start, to gear-up for the blitz.
