So my family has been going to the mebane location since it opened(like 8 years). However, ever since they have moved their food and their service has plummeted. Before that everything was good, food was correct, servers were friendly. Now, the food is either dry(exp. the pork for the tacos), or so soggy(the burrito) you don’t want it. Clearly, once they moved they had some turnover or change of management. Its sad because this place was once pretty good. Also I must add that inside alone there are at least 10 TVs, all playing boring talk shows or sports. That really puts the nail in the coffin.

Good food! Ask for the salsa picante if you want more heat in the food. Large portions and excellent service, Enjoyed the lunch specials on Sunday!

I tried them before at their old address and was completely unimpressed. This week my plumber insisted that I must have caught them on a bad day, so I tried again, this time for lunch. My burrito grande was decidedly meh, and the sauce for it was spilled around the edges. Don’t they tidy their plates before serving? Speaking of plates, the square one they gave me had one large piece of corner broken off, and several bits at other places around the edge gone. It was a plate that should have been trashed, not served to customers. Only got one(paper) napkin. No one came to refill my drink, no one asked if I wanted dessert. There were maybe 10 other customers in the place; I think we were outnumbered by wait staff. My server did finally come by to ask if everything was okay, which is more than I got last time. Don’t think I’ll be coming back. FYI: one exit down is La Fiesta, and they have splendid food as well as staff that is usually(not quite always) on the ball, and friendly.

My husband and I ate in the new La Cocina tonight. We have heard many positive reviews and the parking lot is always full; all good indicators of a decent restaurant. Despite the full parking lot we were seated right away, a plus. The new décor is tasteful and relaxing; great seating areas, lots of tables and it appeared to be a nice bar area with outside tables. We were brought the standard chips and salsa, chips were warm, salsa was very salty with a bite, husband wasn’t a fan of the salsa… me, I like salt. The waitress gave us time to peruse the menus and did not rush us which was refreshing. I ordered water, a beer, black bean soup and a Carnita dinner. Hubbie orders chicken soup and a shredded beef burrito. Beer and hubbies sweet tea arrives, me no water. Food is brought out quickly with one caveat, soup was supposed to be an appetizer and all the food came out together. This is common in mexican restaurants and I should learn to order appetizer first and when I get my appetizer eat a bit and then and only then order my meal… one day I will learn. Still no water and no black bean soup. The chicken soup was unedible, very salty but the shredded beef burrito was real good. The carnita is not what I“m used to. La Cocina fries their pork, it is not the slow cooked pork you usually get. Yet again, salty and tasted fried, not very good. The rice and black beans were yum but bland. We gave them a chance and I will admit, we most likely will not return. With all of the choices in our area the food was not worth a trip back.

First time customer. Last time customer. Food was just ok. Ordered soup. Got it last. Barely ate it. Totally salty could not eat more than a few spoon fuls. Tasted like too many bullion cubes. The food was fresh but not to my liking. Salt should be left up to the consumer. The salsa too was salty. And that was to start, should have been a tell tale sign. Service was fast and plentiful.

Came here for lunch. Had chicken fajitas. The chicken was robbery and had zero flavor. Guacamole was not fresh at all. Seriously some of the worst Mexican food I’ve ever had.

Very good food! It can get crowded fast so we always try to go early to avoid the super busy times. Great social environment and family friendly too.

Very Americanized food. My daughter begged me to take her here for her birthday. We tried this place once before and didn’t care for it, but our favorite Mexican place(Fiesta Grill off HWY54) was closed today. Now I remember why I disliked it. The quesadilla’s appeared to be fried in butter and they had American cheese in them. Disgusting. The taco meat tastes like dog food. Taco meat at Taco Bell tastes better than that. They also would not take coupon. Then to add insult to injury they gave my 9 year old some stale chips with a drop of honey for her birthday dessert. I will not eat here again. My guess is that they have good drinks and people drink too much and don’t realize how bad the food is. If you must eat in town you are better off with Moe’s or even Taco Bell.

Friendly and efficient staff! Delicious moist marinated chicken in both my chiliquiles and cheesy burrito, perfect pork in tamales with good ratio masa to pastor. Waited at a well-stocked bar for my meal. Zesty salsa that wasn’t bland or too runny! Noticed they support local rec teams, proudly displayed in pics covering the walls. Love it! Overall, friends and family with kids, as well as the pickup team after practice, will have a great experience here. Can’t wait to do a girl’s night at the bar!

Clean quick service. Polite staff(competition are you listening?) I have to give this restaurant a sincere«wow» for being such a gem hidden away. I was truly stunned at the flavor in my food, and will return again.

Pretty much your average Mexican restaurant– nothing fancy. The food is ok, but I’ve had better. The waiters are very friendly and fast. They always have really great drink specials– Margarita Monday is by far the best!

It’s the place we now go for Mexican. Great staff, generous portions of uniformly high quality and a 32 oz Dos Esquis nail it. Before we moved here, we used to think On The Border was pretty good. Since then, we went to an OTB in Charlotte and both thought that it can’t hold a candle to La Cochina.

I have eaten at La Cocina several times and ate their for lunch a couple of weeks ago, wanting to have something different besides La Fiesta on Mebane Oaks. I was really hoping La Cocina would live up to the hype as I wanted to find a second Mexican Restaurant in Mebane to go too, but sadly it was«Ok» … nothing stands out here that would make me want to come back on a regular basis, the wait staff were fine, but the food was not anywhere near La Fiestas.

Considering I have their number saved in my phone, I figure I am due to write a review. We eat there and get take out frequently — definitely one of my favorite guilty pleasures. We’ve never had any issues with our food or service. Always a great, reliable place for a Mexican restaurant. Food is always hot and fixed in a timely fashion. It is an extremely popular, local restaurant(parking lot always seems full). They have great drink specials too.

My wife and I used to eat there so much that the owner started giving us discounts. The food is always good, low priced and served quickly. One can barely order before it comes out. No one laughs at my attempts to order in Spanish! Muy bueno. The tamales, fajitas, and quesadilla are quite good. I’ll go again.

I have to update my previous review… apparently you only get cold food and poor service during soccer season. This visit my food was hot, delicious, and I got just the right amount of service. I was satisfied and got what I expected.

I really enjoy La Cocina. The service is fast and courteous and the food is great. If you like chorizo then you have to try El Casuelon. I worked in a great family chain in the triangle for a couple of years(Torrero’s) and think this place is just as good.

I’m one of those people that finds something they like at a restaurant and orders it just about every time. La Cocina is the exception to that rule. I’ve never had anything here I didn’t like. This is hands down our«go to» place in town. Favorites are the ACC and Quesadilla La Cocina. The margaritas are the best we’ve found in the area. Great service, food comes quickly and we’ve never had a problem customizing our order and getting exactly what we ordered.

This is the best mexican place in town, according to all of my friends. We eat here at least twice a month. They food is always delicious, the waiters are always great, and the best thing is the incredibly quick service. We have never had a long wait for our food. They give you chips and salsa and the queso cheese dip is delicious. There is a smoking section however it is separate from the rest of the restaurant and I never notice the smell of smoke. They also have a party room that you can reserve for get-togethers. One last note: the mixed drinks tend to be very strong! There is also a La Fiesta in town, which is more expensive, has a longer wait(for tables and for food), and the food is not as good.
