Service was the WORST we have ever experienced. I do not recommend for anyone who is not a regular, local customer. The staff will treat you like dirt. They sat us at a table and then made us feel bad for sitting there. They had it reserved 45 minutes later for someone and made us feel like we had to order right away and while we were still eating our food, they brought the people who had reserved«This» table over and they stood and stared at us as we inhaled our food. It was ABSURD! Not to mention 2 other table had opened up right beside us while we were eating and they could have saved one for the Reserved group. Instead they sat other walk ins just like us there. We really wish they had just told us that they didn’t have any tables available when we first walked in the door.

Yes, the food is good and the pictures other reviewers have posted are good representations of the wraps, which is what we ordered. I’ve never been served a wrap like this before but, then, I’m also not a Mediteranean food aficionado(although I do have strong opinions about falafel). The pita bread is soft and warm and my husband said that the lamb was good. I went vegetarian and was not disappointed with the eggplant. What I really love about this place, though, it the back porch seating that looks out over the Dan River, still a small, clear stream at this point. The backdrop is a rolling hillside with a(very big) rental cabin, looking just as picturesque as it could possibly be. The staff is super friendly and invited us to come back when they have music playing.

Easy 4 ½ stars on our first visit. I had the Beef Kabob on pita, and it was delicious. My dad had the chicken wrap on pita, and he said it was very good. My wife got the Philly sub and it tasted great. Son and brother split a Carbonara pizza, and it was a very good pizza. Fresh made dough, and a crisp bottom crust… you can tell the owner takes pride in making these pizzas. You gotta check this place out!

Wonderful addition to the Meadows of Dan eateries. Pizzas, calzones and anything Mediterranean should not be missed. A real gem.

The Café in the mountains is awesome for the food, atmosphere, and music. Only 1 mile off the Blue Ridge Parkway just past Meadows of Dan the decore is music and antique inspired. At the site of the Cochram Mill you won’t be disappointed by the Gyros, Greek pizzas, kabobs, and calzones! On Saturday nights and some Fridays there is live music from Blues to rock to bluegrass it’s always a good time. Wifi Internet also available here which is great To have, I come here all the time.

My aunt and uncle used to run this place and it was fantastic, and I was very hopeful that it would live up to its past standards when I went this weekend and it did! I got the Philly cheesesteak sub and it was amazing. Comes out piping hot, loaded with meat and peppers. Love the atmosphere and friendliness as well.(You should consider renting one of the cabins they have there for a weekend!)

Some friends(Todd & Deb) told me about Crooked Road Café — They said it was awesome. After a cruise in the mountains — I had the most fortunate chance to stop into Crooked Road Café. At first I was impressed with the cool building — with country cabins in the background. Upon entering — I was amazed by the aroma of great food and the sight of great country art and history on the walls. The waitress was most friendly and helpful. Monica ordered the Greek Plate and I ordered the Beef Kabobs. When the dishes arrived I was blown away by the aroma and the beauty displayed on the plates. We both got the hummus and Baba Ganush and Greek Salad. The flavors of each item were amazing! We both agreed that we just had the most delicious Mediterranean food we’ve ever tasted and we have tried a lot. We met the owners Omar and Sadie and they were cool — very enthusiastic about the business and their customers. This is a new business and they had a good crowd in when we arrived. I sure hope they do great here — I want them to be there every time I get in the area. They have music on a lot of Fri and Sat nights. They are open Thur through Sunday. This was one of the coolest restaurants I’ve ever been in and the owners and staff are great. I can’t wait to get back there. This cool place is near the entrance to the Blue Ridge Pkwy and also near Lovers Leap. Great stopping off place for food in a beautiful area. I’ve posted a few photos.
