If you are looking for a change in pace for burgers, this is your spot. Great burgers cooked to perfection and the sweet potato fries are out of this world. Also be sure to try the dessert’s for a great finish.

Consistently amazing food and amazing service. Our Mac and cheese took a little long tonight. We didn’t even complain, but the owner went ahead and comp’ed it. Amazing place, best in McKinney.

This place was the only busy restaurant on the McKinney square when we visited on a Saturday afternoon no January. Everything we ordered was excellent: — blue cheese burger: a quarter pound of medium rare goodness, ground very fine, with very frest LTO and a fresh baked challah roll — string fried onions and sweet potato fries: came served crisp and hot. The strings had more structural integrity than any onion straws I’ve ever had(a good thing), and the sweet potato fries were sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon, both very good on their own respect. — lobster mac and cheese: a fresh dish, nicely crusted and just cheesy enough, with decent lobster chunks, fresh peas, and mushroom slices, seasoned nicely. Next time we’re back in McKinney, we will return.

We go at least once a week. We obviously LOVE it! Consistent great food not just the burgers but EVERYTHING on the menu even their grilled cheese. Shawn is by far the best bartender. The entire staff is great. Jen is a sweetheart. It’s our watering hole for sure.

All I can say is I don’t eat a ton of red meat, but love this place! Other non-red meat options available, service is always great and fried pickles too. Never a bad burger yet. It’s trendy/modern(does not follow the typical square décor) clean and the beer/ale selection is great. Not much to say other than I am a fan.

This is one of my favorite burger joints. We will drive over 30 minutes and deal with the wait to eat here. Spicy tuna burger is amazing!!! French fries and onion rings are a must. The last hoorahs no matter which you pick you won’t be disappointed. In regards to wine the pour is generous and the beers on tap go on for days.

I’ve been here twice. The burgar are really flavorful and they have a pretty extensive list of beer on tap, that can have some changes from time to time.

Perfect burgers! Thick juicy well-seasoned grass fed patties on soft pillowy buns. Tempura onion rings are huge and delicious. The wings are also to die for. Juicy, slightly spicy and crisp; they are so buttery without being greasy at all. Garlic aioli(ask for it!) is wonderful to dip everything in. Some reviews complain about slow service, but I always have great speedy service here(we go on my fiancés lunch break). Ambiance is clean, modern and lovely. Bathrooms are nice. Hard to find a complaint. Do be warned that parking is HORRENDOUS in this downtown McKinney square area. Be prepared to walk a good bit and be patient.

We came across the street after watching a show at the theater to grab a bite. My wife had heard good things about this place. The service was amazing at the bar, and the atmosphere had a good buzz to it! This is the kind of place we look for to enjoy the weekends in McKinney. The mushroom burger is amazing and the parmigiana burger is equally delicious. I’d recommend this place to all!

When we talked in on a Monday evening they were busy but not yet on a wait. The décor is not that of your usual Mckinney Square restaurant. It is actually decorated with a modern vibe and a minimalist use of adornments. It is mostly large windows that makes it great place to view the beautiful sights of the Square. We had an extremely friendly and knowledgable server. I started with the Mac n cheese. One word… YUM! It is perfection with the sun dried tomatoes and tender chicken. I think it is the best I have ever had the pleasure of putting to my lips. I ordered the smoky jack burger. It is what a cheeseburger was meant to be. Perfectly charred beef that is hot off a griddle with gooey provolone cheese melted on top. Add in some bacon, onion strings, and a bun that gives a perfect texture to each bite. It’s hard to think such a basic combination would be one of the best burgers I’ve ever had, but this one redefines a cheeseburger. Top quality ingredients and perfect timing by the cooks make this a mastery of burger science. I paired my burger with sweet potato fries. They were crispy and had a great flavor. The hubby had the Bacon Cheddar BBQ Burger. He said it was a one of a kind combination of BBQ sauce, juiciness from the patty, mixed with grilling perfection. After all that burger goodness I didn’t have enough room for dessert.

Well… I don’t know exactly how I feel about this place. While I didn’t completely hate it I also did not fall in love with it for a couple of reasons. First and foremost, our server was very nice and the service was really great, for that only I would come back to this place. For the things I did like: My burger was cooked a perfect medium rare, not over cooked nor under cooked. The fries were really tasty, not salty at all and they were enough for two people to share so that was nice. The pickle that came with our meal was deep fried.(Oh my gosh, genius!) Place wasn’t too crowded, so my fiancé and I could talk without having to scream. Now, for the not so fun, things I didn’t like: The price. $ 35+ for 2 burgers, fries and 2 drinks. Call me cheap, but this seems a little steep for burgers, especially burgers that weren’t the most amazing thing in the world. Décor… or lack of décor. I didn’t like that the burger didn’t come with fries and you had to buy them separately… Did burger and fries break up or something? They’re like a 2 for 1 kind of thing… I think if I lived in McKinney or at least closer, I MAY give this place another chance, but honestly, I rather go somewhere else. I don’t think the money you pay here is worth it. Again, server was really nice though.

The burgers were amazing!!! Our server was questionable, he may have been having an off day, but that prevented a 5 star review. I had the lamb burger and it was so juicy and cooked to perfection. My boyfriend had the spicy tuna burger which was also delicious. I highly recommend the mac and cheese with chicken and sundried tomatoes. The beer selection was on point. Wish I lived in McKinney so I could come here more. Will definitely be back on my next visit.

I had the Smoky Jack Burger. The beef was not that juicy to be honest. Not a lot of flavor. It was difficult to eat as the onion strings on top made it quite tall. Actually I didn’t even finish my burger. I was not a fan of the tiny dishes of ketchup, mustard, and mayo they give you nor the ambiance. The interior of the place is quite stark and loud. This is a weak four, although if I was a rich man and lived closer, I’d reconsider to a solid four. My friend and I were at Oktoberfest and we were getting hungry. We didn’t want the food from the concession stands, so I did some research and found this place, based on the time, location, and what they serve. Atmosphere wise it’s quite spartan but with a modern twist. I thought they could do with some interior decorations, but it’s the food that counts. My friend and I were not super hungry so we decided to split a burger. I compromised with her and got the mushroom burger. I thought about getting fries, but they were quite expensive for just a basket. Our food took a little while, but not too long. My first thoughts on the burger were how messy it was to keep all the ingredients piled in between the bun. They also did not serve the burger with condiments. I personally enjoy mayo and mustard to my burger, so if you are like me, ask for it upfront. Once I bit into it, I was quite pleased, although this was certainly not the greatest burger I’ve had. The meat was juicy, flavorful, and didn’t crumble. The toppings were fresh, the avocado was creamy, and the bacon really enhanced the flavor. I wished it was a little crispier, but the flavor is what mattered. The fried pickle they offered was wonderful! The batter was just right, and the pickle was crisp and refreshing. The burger came out to be almost 13 dollars. If it was 8 dollars, I wouldn’t complain, but that’s a little pricey in my book. Plus, the burger was a good proportion, but not necessarily for the price. I don’t live close to McKinney, and when I do visit, I go straight to Hutchins. But this place does a good enough job to be recommendable(as long as the person doesn’t mind shelling out some money).

If I could give this place zero stars I would. We are here during Oktoberfest, there are children everywhere. I’m a brand new mom, and this is one of our first family outings. We asked for a seat, the hostess said we could sit at the bar now, or wait an hour for an actual seat. We are absolutely starving — so of course we chose the bar. As any parent knows — strollers take up a lot of space, so the bar is actually better for the stroller too, more space, didn’t get into anyone’s way — perfect! A regular seat would have placed my little one right in the middle of a walk way. No bueno for fire codes, etc. This place is tiny and super loud. My husband and I went to the bar, parked the stroller in a place that didn’t interfere with anyone, or take up any bar space. Perfect! The server comes to give us our menus. So excited to try the delicious burgers I’ve been wanting to try since I heard out about this place when I was pregnant. We ordered our water and then the hostess came over and told us «Um. You actually can’t sit here. 18 and older only for the bar after 5.» She looked like she wasn’t even entirely sure about what she was saying. When I asked what the difference was with this spot, and the one literally a foot behind me(other than the hour wait) she had no answer. We just had to move. That was for sure. Then the owner(Brandon) came over, he was abrasive from the very start. I asked him why we had to move. He said we had lied to the hostess when we asked for a seat(which we never did! Baby was right by me the entire time!) I told him we were leaving, and that I was utterly confused how a seat one foot away, during a very family oriented festival, was any different(there were tons of kids in the tiny place anyways). I’m not a confrontational person, so this absolutely killed me. His snarky remark? «Good! We don’t want you or your money here any way!» No apologies for the miscommunication. No care about anything at all. Poor ownership. What a terribly mean person. Bummer, because I wanted to try their food… But I will always have a bad taste in my mouth about this place from now on.

Saturday afternoon and the square in downtown McKinney is quite full. We chose Square Burger for our late lunch. We got a nice booth for 2 near the window so we could do some people watching. I ordered the bacon cheese burger and my wife the mushroom burger. Also fries. The fries were great Something unique about them. Our burgers were not so great. Rather dry and not too tasty. While our waitress tried, she was too busy which made service suffer for us. Several times we noticed 5 workers congregating in the corner chatting. I hoped for more but they did not deliver this time.

First off, I always thought this place was named Square Burger because the burgers were square shaped. Silly me, it is named so because it is on the square in McKinney. Figured that one out when my burger arrived and it was round. Nonetheless, it was a good burger and the bun was so soft and moist. We also had the wing appetizer and those were good. More on that later. The reason this is only a 3 star review is because: 1. The service is just okay. There were large gaps in when the server would come by our table. 2. They charged for extra blue cheese for the wings even though the amount they give you is not sufficient for the amount of wings they give you. Just build the cost into the price of the dish if that is the case. 3. There is no where to wait indoors. Since this place is often busy, you feel like you are in the way when waiting for a table, unless you go outside, which is fine in the spring or fall.

Goodness, this place is so amazing! It’s got a great atmosphere and staff. We were also content with the food. I was initially going to get a burger until I saw their alternative menu with lobster mac n cheese. It’s got mushrooms and well… lobster and mac n cheese. They did it SO much justice! And I kid you not, their tempura fried onion rings are the best onion rings I’ve ever had. We will definitely be back the next time we’re in the area, especially if we have any out of towners here. Just beware of parking. My husband is some kind of parking spot magician but I can see how it’d be difficult to snag a spot. There’s tons of dessert places nearby and cool fact — the Franconia’s Brewery was no more than 10 minutes away. Made for an eventful Saturday!

There are so many burger places in Texas and this just isn’t among the best. The burger was just okay, service slow, waiter awkward. There is just something uncomfortable about the environment also… kind of cafeteria like and a large open space jam packed with tables and chairs. They were accommodating by making plain macaroni and cheese instead of the appetizer that came with meat and what not but it didn’t wow me that I would go back for it. Fried pickle that came with the burger was awesome as were the fritters. Don’t be fooled by the term citrus… didn’t necessarily taste that.
