This is the best brew tour I’ve been on! Everyone was incredibly friendly. All the beer is good. The tour was very informative(more so than other tours I’ve been on). If you’re a craft beer fan you need to go!

Best tour so far I’ve been on. Informative and humorous plus you get to drink beer. And it’s good beer. I visit many breweries around TX. My brother brews beer. But This has become my favorite so far. Simple, pure and just good beer. I found it in six pack bottle recently at grocery store and my son now loves it too.

Franconia has utterly ruined me and I pine for their beer whenever I’m not in Texas. Why, Franconia, are you not available in Miami? Dennis, can you just come out and set up shop here? There is a massive void in Miami and we need a serious brewery that actually knows how to make beer. Instead, we have a bunch of people that pour more effort into attitude, gimmicky names/logos and treat the beer as an afterthought. I didn’t realize I even liked beer until I tasted your liquid gold. Seriously, start a Kickstarter campaign for a brewery in Miami! I’ll be your first backer. WENEEDYOUHERE! Top 5 reasons I’m a huge Franconia Brewing Fan: 1) ALL of their beers are delicious 2) The Saturday morning brewery tours 3) Hundreds of years of beer making knowledge applied to their craft 4) No attitude, it’s all about the beer 5) Dennis is a purist and will never serve crap

‘Don’t judge a book by its cover.’ $ 5 gets you a tour and many pours of their traditional German beer, Prost!

Took my husband here for a tour, back on Valentines day. It was great! Got a nice glass to take home and free beer samples for him. The owner was very informative and funny and didn’t let the loud disrespectful people in the back of the group ruin the tour for others. We got there early but noticed that the line ended up getting really long, so early is better. Also, just FYI, it is a tight space once you get in and there is a moment where you’re essentially standing in a fridge.

I took my boyfriend here as a birthday present. I personally do not drink beer but even I had a good time. The guy that does the tour is German and really funny. And the best part is that it is only $ 5 and you can drink as much beer as you want! Definitely worth stopping by

I’m going to keep this one simple. $ 5 all you can drink every Saturday starting at 11AM. You can not get beer any cheaper then that. In addition, the beer is absolutely fantastic and delicious. A breakfast for champions on a Saturday!

I struggled debating on this one between 3 and 4 stars. But yes, it’s $ 5 unlimited beer, $ 10 keep the glass. But there is no entertainment, no food, no AC. He said it was a smaller crowd last week, I’m glad as the tour would have been unbearable with more people in the room. I like their beer though, Kolsh and Amber — are good easy drinking beers. The freezer part of the tour, was a welcomed breezed.

$ 5 gets you a tour and all the beer you can drink. Another $ 5 gets you a Franconia glass. Saw a lot of people bring their own glass and they have plastic cups for those that don’t purchase or bring one. It was an informative tour and great beer! Starts at 11 and if you like beer, I highly recommend you check it out!

Yes. If you haven’t checked out Franconia Brewing you definitely need to as soon as possible! My family toured Franconia on the 4th of July and were impressed with everything– from the tour, to the level of Dennis’ knowledge, to the amazing taste of his beers! We will definitely be back! The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars was because there was a horrible stench outside of the brewery that made me nauseous, but other than that it was great! (If I haven’t sold you yet– every Saturday they do $ 5 tours with unlimited drinking afterwards…- did that do the trick?)

The guys at Franconia are beyond awesome. They have a selection ofbrews for pretty much for any palette. On top of that they are locally owned and host weekend tours each weekend that are super informative. If you are a craft beer fan and have done all the other tours in the heart of the city, this is a good one to check out for a change of pace. Dennis is German and has an interesting family history when it comes to the business of beer. He will encourage you to sample beers several beers along the way and teach you some cool stuff you probably never knew.

Fun way to spend a Saturday morning. This way when my girl looks at me cross eyed cause I’m drinking beer at 11AM, I can shoot back«Hey, I’m not drinking cause I want to drink, this is a BREWERYTOUR! Get with it, girl!!» It’s a fairly interesting tour but let’s be honest, it’s hard to hear half of what they say and the cooler is too cold to hang in for very long. I usually just mosey on over to the tap. Just fill the glass dude, just fill the glass…

We toured Franconia Brewery and felt it was one of the best brewery tours we’ve been on, second only to Guinness at the point for us. Yes, there are crowds, but the brewmaster Dennis knows how to control his audience and keep everyone’s attention. He’s German and his family’s been in the brewing business since 1800. Yes, 1800. He opened his own place in 2008 after relocating to DFW from Germany in 2003. How lucky are we to have 1) someone who actually has a master’s degree in beer and food science and 2) someone who is willing to explain in human terms what’s happening in the beer making process and how his approach to beer making is different? Different, by the way, equal traditional German beer-making, using only 4 ingredients. Tours are offered every Saturday at 11. They will check your ID, though plenty of people brought their kids for a fun family day of learning about the beer making process. $ 5 gets you a tour and beer in a plastic cup. You can add another $ 5 when you enter and get a pilsner glass to use that day and take home. After everyone’s enjoyed a starter glass of beer, you move to the tour. The tour lasts about 30 minutes. I won’t spoil the experience by sharing what all you learn, but it’s fascinating. Even if you don’t like beer, I think you’ll like learning how it’s made and some of the myths that surround the marketing of beers in the U.S. The brewery isn’t large, but you do move from area to area and listen in each section. The information is presented in an interactive method and, like I said earlier, Dennis knows how to keep your attention. You’ll finish in the cooler, so if you are cold natured you may want to bring a jacket to slip on. The floors can also be wet in certain areas, so wear appropriate shoes. You can’t always predict that you’ll avoid puddles with the tour crowd. After the tour, you can enjoy another beer — or 2 or 3 or… — and enjoy meeting your fellow brewery visitors. Two pints each were more than enough for us! All in all, it was a great experience. We were there for right around 2 hours, including pre and post drinks.

Franconia one of the first craft beers in Dallas! Opened in 2008 and has not looked back. Produces some great German Puritan style Beirs! I love their wheat and Dunkle. I would recommend anyone who is a beer snob or just enjoys good beer to check out their local brewery tours.

Beer is still five stars. The tour however is out of control now. I last visited three years ago where it was more quient and laid back. It is now like a feed barn. I guess the $ 5 deal has spread. If you do not mind a huge crowd, it’s is great.

Came here recently on Saturday for a brewery tour, and was told upon arriving that entry is $ 5(cheaper than most other brewery tours) and that the guy that usually gives the tour isn’t here so we could just go on in and have a drink. I was a bit disappointed, but they were gracious enough to still allow people to see their facility and hang out and drink free beer… which apparently has no limit? They pretty much just won me over on sheer customer service forever. Tasty stout and dunkel and oktoberfest beers too! I spoke to some of the employees and read the walls, learning that this beer has German roots, which I feel like I could sort of tell(I’m honestly no expert, but it tasted very much like like the ones I had in Munich). Definitely coming back for the full experience!

Really nice establishment and brewmasters. Given that the owner is German(born and raised), Franconia beer adheres to the German beer laws. You will have wonderful beer here, however, do not expect any craft beer with unique spices, chocolate, coffee, or fruit in it. They had 4 beers available: 1) Wheat(Hefewiesen), 2) Dunkel(dark), 3) Kolsch(light), 4) Octoberfest(seasonal). All were tasty with my favorite being the Dunkel. The tour is very educational particularly about beer and brewing but also about the origins of the brewery and the family history behind Franconia. Attending the tour was a wonderful way to spend a few hours on a Saturday. When you go, be sure your ready to taste beer, you will get plenty if you want it.

I live in Southern California, which is a major epicenter of American craft brewing. There are dozens of microbreweries near where I live — and none of them offers as cool a deal as Franconia. From what I can tell, they don’t have a tasting room open every day with regular hours. Rather, you arrive by 11:00AM on Saturday morning for a brewery tour. Park on the street(there’s tons of room; like many breweries, Franconia is an industrial park.) You pay $ 5, and in return you get the tour — and ALLTHEBEERYOUWANT. The tour takes about an hour, and they stay open for another hour or so afterwards. You can even bring your own glass; I saw a guy getting a liter stein filled up. I’m not talking you get all the tasters you want. You get as many FULLGLASSSES of beer as you want. What a deal! I arrived too late for the tour, but was still able to pay my $ 5 and try some beer before the tour let out. My relatives got their earlier and took the tour, which they said was informative, but was more of a lecture and did not involve too much walking around. As soon as the tour empties out, the line for beer becomes insanely long. But it moves quickly, and once the initial lines die down, the lines for refills are short or non-existent. Be prepared to wait in line to use the bathroom, though — only one bathroom, and a ton of people on the tour. And of course, the beer: it’s German styles, as the brewer is German and comes from a long line of brewers. These are accessible, easy-to-drink styles with fairly low ABVs: dunkel, amber, Oktoberfest, Kolsch, lager, etc. Solid session beers — nothing too crazy like you find out west(no chipotle infusions or crazy hoppy double IPAs.) This would be a great place to introduce newbies to(and probably get them hooked on!) craft beer. I liked all of the beers we tried. The Oktoberfest was pretty good; the Kolsch was lovely, the lager was okay, and the dunkel was my favorite. They make a decent wheat beer, as well. If you’re in the Dallas metro area, I definitely recommend checking this place out. It’s well worth the drive — just make sure you have a DD!

Definitely worth the drive! Not a big place but I loved the passion and excellence they use in making their beers and I am not much of a beer drinker. Four of us went and liked the four beers they served. They do tastings on Saturday’s at 11:00 and this fills up fast as it’s only $ 5 for the tour and the beer… all you can drink! Note the DPS is on the next street up so drink responsibly. Loved the humor and the hospitality of the gentlemen serving and teaching us about the brewing process. You have to do this at least once!

Craving a beer and beer lesson at 11am on a Saturday? Then go to the Franconia Brewery. We arrived at almost 11 on the dot and there were about 30 people waiting outside to do the tour. At 11, out walks Dennis. He gave us a few rules before we began the tour. You pay $ 5(bring cash) and can also opt to buy a take home glass for $ 5, which I did. After everyone pays and gets their first beer, the tour starts. It lasted about an hour. You learn all about his German style brewery process, and I’m simply amazed that he only uses 4 ingredients to make beer. We did a bit of the tour outside, which was nice because it was a little warm in the brewery, but the doors were open so we’d get a little breeze every now and then. We ended the tour in the cooler, which was pretty refreshing. Dennis debunked some beer myths that make me never want to drink an American beer again. Kidding. Sort of… :) After the tour is over you are free to drink as much beer as you want. Hooray beer.
