This place has always been a great and relaxing restaurant. My wife and I have been going here for 25 years. Even after Art and Lillian sold it it was enjoyable. Well that has changed. Unfortunately. We went there tonite. I ordered the BOB sandwich. It came and it smelled like old freezer burnt beef. I had the waitress smell it and she agreed it did not smell good at all. I ordered a cheeseburger. It was very Dry and tasteless. My wife’s Pattymelt was terrible. She ordered chilli and it looked like barbq sauce and beans and tasted like it. I really hope this changes. What a great little restaurant! How many places do you go where the waitress/owner — knows your name when you arrive, has your drinks to your table AS you sit down & knows your order without asking(unless you change it up a bit)! Tony is a terrific cook! Chrissy is just adorable & she is so sweet, fast & obviously accomodating! Vickie is great too! The prices here are very, very reasonable — best breakfast in McHenry & most reasonably priced, too! Give them a try — you won’t regret it! Breakfast or lunch — delicious food, cooked as you want it!!! Besides — it is an amazing building — such a history in this building — just look at the brick walls & the old fashioned(original) pressed tin ceiling!

Good little place, Good breakfast options. Only real criticisms would be maybe some music instead of the daytime tv background noise, And I thought the cheese came on the inside of an omelet? Either way, We’ll be back. Check em out.

Ok, Here is a little gem in the town, when you first walk in you know you are in a very old building as it has that old building smell. But this is a great little place to have a quick breakfast or lunch and the food for my first time was done right and done well. I ordered the Ribeye steak sandwich. Are you seeing a trend, yep I love the Ribeye, I believe it is the most flavorful cut of beef. Anyway enough about my favorites, this is a little lunch joint that is run by a husband and wife team. And the food is delicious. It is EXTREMELYRARE that you order a ribeye sandwich medium rare and it actually comes out pink in the middle. I would say this is a pretty difficult feat because the cut is so much thinner than a regular cut of ribeye. So Big Kudos to the Chef, you nailed it, my steak was cooked to the correct temperature, the mushrooms and onions were great and what a great choice of bread for this sandwich it wasn’t too tough and it held up the juices that were being absorbed. This was a great sandwich. My only input to improve the plate would be find a better pickle, the soft mushy ones really don’t belong on your plate, especially with how good the meal is.
