Mackey’s hideout is a place to go if you really like sampling good beer and you enjoy exciting music. Some friends persuaded me to go there the other night, with the line«What — you have never been to Mackey’s?» I am really a connoisseur of fine beers, and I was truly astounded when I got in there. They have 14 kinds of beer on tap, including the famous(to me) Alagash Interlude. They have 97 different kinds of bottled and canned beer available. This incredible selection includes Three Floyds Behemoth Barleywine. For those who do not already know it, this is a drink which is around 12% alcohol. If you start putting these down for a whole evening it will blow the top of your head off! Their cider selection is limited but includes the really good stuff like Angry Orchard Hard Apple Cider. The prices are reasonable, with most of the 12oz cans being around$ 4.50. When you take into account the rather good quality live music, then in my opinion this is the most incredible value. I highly recommend the place. I would have given it 5* if it had been a bit cleaner.

I’m a big fan of dive bars and this is a dive bar with unique live music. On a Sunday night they had a live musician playing which I found amazing. Who has live music in a dive bar on a Sunday night? Other wise, it’s booze and dark. My type of place.

This bar is a true diamond on the side of the rough road. It doesn’t look like much from the outside and isn’t that much in the inside either. But the beer list makes up for everything divey about the bar. With a five by five foot case of beers on display and the menu it’s overwhelming. So many little brews and some hard to find brews. The Saturday night we stopped by it wasn’t too crowded and it was nice enough to sit outside(they have a few patio tables outside and a bags game set up in the back) and listen to this jazzy jam band play surprisingly well. Over all, it’s worth the trek just out of town for a brew you can’t always find.

Stopped here after reading on another website that they sell Firestone Double Jack IPA. I was surprised to see there extensive beer selection. Many excellent bottles and cans with a few great drafts. Place is very clean with friendly knowledgeable service.
