Good food, order early! If it runs out before closing, they may not restock certain items. Overall food is good! Yum

Tried this place for the first time. It’s in a hole in the wall with an interesting location… Food Depot, Maxway, and a biker shop. So as you can imagine there are interesting people in the parking lot. Aside from that this place is definitely a take out place but the fish is awesome! It’s fresh and meaty and I’m not a huge fan of tarter sauce, but they had a cajun tarter sauce that is homemade and it was pretty tasty. The service was excellent, they were very sweet and even the people in there ordering seemed to be regulars. I suggest calling ahead as every order is made as it is called in. The macaroni and cheese is also pretty good as well. I would definitely be back. Also, they are closed Sundays and Mondays New Location: 600 Macon Street McDonough, GA

Nice people with so so food. Had pork chop sandwich. Not seasoned. Lots of bone for a sandwich? Perhaps catfish is better. In an old house, we missed it and had to ask directions. On the plus side, they were nice people, clean establishment. Had higher hopes for this experience.

We sought this place out on our way thru Atlanta, returning to Chicago from spring break. We were searching for southern food and wow, we really found it. Fabulous. In particular the Creole potato salad and chicken were noteworthy. This place is more of a take-out stand than an eat-in restaurant; our kids were fine sitting and waiting with other folks whose orders were pending, but if you’re looking for anything at all upscale this is not it. Honestly, though, who cares with chicken this good? Even my 11-year-old picky eater is still raving about the tilapia and peach cobbler.

If you want fresh fish, chicken, and more with a cajun influence, there is a gem hiding behind Snapper in McDonough. This place has always served great chicken and fish, but the other day, I saw the sign advertising crawfish which I had to check out. Since I had last visited the restaurant, they have added a fresh seafood cooler allowing you to purchase items by weight and pay a small extra charge for it to be cooked in a matter of minutes. The tilapia and crawfish were fantastic. The cajun heritage of the owner truly comes out when you taste the perfectly spiced crawfish. I just wish she would put étouffée on the menu because something tells me that it would be incredible.

The late«Catfish» Mahoney taught his granddaughter Danielle how to cook delicious catfish, so when she decided to leave the corporate world and go into business for herself by opening a restaurant, there was no other choice but to name it «Catfish Mahoneys» and feature her grandfathers recipe. Little did my wife and I know this small restaurant in a converted orange house would offer such a fun food experience. Danielle greeted us heartily, in that enthusiastic manner only an owner can muster. We immediately felt welcome and appreciated. The décor is simple and clean. I could just see Danielle painting the walls herself and picking out the curtains herself. Her enthusiasm for her first venture as a sole proprietor was very evident. The food was good and the portions generous. We had the catfish filet. I especially enjoyed the homemade tarter sauce the very friendly Blakney served us. They would have gotten five stars had they not been out of whole catfish, but they more than made up for this with good, no … great service. Definitely worth a return visit!

McDonough’s best kept secret. Real soul food. The food is incredible. The restaurant is small but very homely. My favorite items are obviously the catfish(the whiting and tilapia are just as good as a matter of preference) but the Mahoney Burger is probably one of the best burgers i’ve ever had, and I am a complete burger snob. The handmade Mahoneys creole tartar sauce is not only great but completely complimentary of whatever you put it on. I would recommend this place to anyone that enjoys great food, friendly staff, and affordable prices.
