Today I went in for my first appointment with Mrs. Jo @ C & S Salon. First let me say that whenever I’m going to a salon for the first time I always get the same thing. No ifs, ands or buts. Wash and set. In my humble opinion, if you cannot do a basic wash and set there is no need for me to waste my time. When I arrived I was greeted and was offered a seat in the waiting area. This salon is nothing fancy but when you do hair like Mrs. Jo does, you don’t need it. There are about 8 or so chairs and a tv w/DTV service. If you don’t like what’s on, just ask, they are more than happy to scroll through the guide. From what I’m told(and saw) it looked to be at least three stylist and I think one barber. He wasn’t there so sorry no report on his skills. So moving on. I was ushered to the shampoo bowl where my hair received a thorough washing. She wasn’t rough at all. No nails being dug into my scape and I personally enjoyed the scalpmaster shampoo brush. Of course lather, rinse, repeat was in order followed by a conditioning treatment. From there on to the styling chair for a quick detangle and leave in, smooth down…(I’m 4 weeks post so wrapping is not going to cut in on my thick hair) then off to the dryer. The dryer was hot so I dried pretty fast. There was a small wait time between the dryer and getting back into the chair but nothing a good magazine/book can’t take care of that. Now in the styling chair again I’m basic on my first trip. I needed a quick blow out with a round brush to make sure the roots were completely dry and start the straightening process. Now on to the flat ironed style. Having very thick hair, quick really isn’t in the cards for me but after about 20 minutes the style started coming together. My hair was shiny, with an abundance of body. I’m swinging it now. LOL. I was even given a free trim to make sure that I looked my best when I walked out. The entire time she’s styling my hair, we’re talking healthy hair and bouncing ideas off of one another. Mrs. Jo makes you feel welcomed in her shop from the start. Did I mention I came in Thursday and she remembered me? That doesn’t happen often especially after just one meeting. She is a great stylist and from the way people were coming in just wanting to speak with & hug her, she must be a great all around person. I think I just found my new stylist. FYI: There isn’t a cc machine at this time so bring cash.
