I had the pastrami on sourdough with Swiss cheese. It was delicious. It came with a choice of fries, coleslaw, or broccoli salad and I chose the coleslaw. It was great too.

McCloud is a quaint, historic town of 1100 near Mt Shasta. Definitely limited dining options! However, come to White Mountain for breakfast and you won’t be disappointed. They serve healthy portions and are reasonably priced. The staff and locals are incredibly friendly and they will have you feeling like one of the family by the time your meal is over. Enjoy!

We have eaten here several times both breakfast and lunch. The most frequent was on Wed. 10⁄14 when we stopped for lunch. I am giving only four stars because of the total cost of the lunch. The food is good but all we had was a patty melt, a burger and one small cup of soup and a couple soft drinks. With a 15% gratuity the bill came to $ 30.00. A little pricey for lunch.

Love the Energy in here like stepping back to the 50’s. The waitstaff treat you like family. They have never met a stranger. Clean Restrooms. Aubry, Annie and Chef Scott deliver the perfect experience !

We are making a quick trip to enjoy the in-law’s cabin and decided to come here for breakfast. Although we spend time up here throughout the year we usually cook at the cabin but, like I said, quick trip so limited groceries and we are treating ourselves. On a Sunday morning there is a steady flow of customers and a short wait list. We lucked out, just the two of us this time so we got right in. We were greeted immediately upon entering and offered two seats at the counter which we took. The inside of the restaurant reflects the quaint old town of McCloud. The architecture, lighting, and wood detail is simple but has an elegance and warmth about it. It’s busy so it sounds a little like a diner with the hustle and bustle of serving and clearing of plates and dishes. The lighting is a nice touch and it has the fishbowl effect with windows wrapping around the front and side of the building. The Food: I ordered the veggie omelette with hash browns and of course, coffee. It was hot when it came out and it’s a very large omelette! I substituted for egg whites and the whites were cooked perfectly, not dry like a lot of places. They were fluffy and fresh tasting. The omelette was STUFFED with yummy fresh vegetables. It was covered in shredded cheeses and had cheers inside as well. This was the downside for me; just because I didn’t want meat in my omelette didn’t mean I need a mound of cheese to compensate. Still, with all of the good veggies inside the dish wasn’t watery which sometimes happens with a veggie based meal. The hash browns were good but s bit greasy. My mate ordered the special which was French toast covered in berries and powdered sugar(picture included). And a hot chocolate. The plate was clean when we left so I’m gonna say it was good. The hot chocolate was mounded in whipped cream which is always a winner in our book. The coffee: when rating a breakfast house I use coffee as a main category. This is not top notch coffee and it’s made very strong. I’m usually a fan of strong coffee but I baulk at the quality when I have to use a knife to cut thru it! The service was spot on. We were checked on several times, my coffee was topped off without asking, the food came out quickly and the bus boy was hustling around taking care of cleanliness and beverages. Very efficient! Bottom line: I would and will probably return and would definitely recommend to others. There’s not a lot to choose from around here but this place out does many restaurants in Shasta even. It’s not just good for the area but a good food house in general.

My boyfriend and I drive through town and stopped at this place for breakfast. We ordered the sausage bruschetta and the huevos rancheros and the portions were HUGE and so delicious! We couldn’t stop eating what was in front of us. Pretty decently priced too. We then were on our way out of town and stopped by this place again for lunch a couple of days later. We got the avocado burger and the chicken club sandwich — again, the food was GREAT. I definitely recommend stopping here for breakfast or lunch(I don’t think they do dinner), it’s so hard to find good food on the road.

We ate lunch here twice while exploring the McCloud river area. Food is home-style, fresh and delicious. Portions are very generous. The service is excellent with courteous and attentive wait staff. We had the patty melt which was superb. French fries seem to be hand cut and home made and there were more than we could eat. The crispy chicken salad was very good, fresh veggies and the chicken was crispy and tasty. Other lunches included the veggie sandwich and hamburger. Both were way above average. In summary, this is a great place with great food.

Stopped in McCloud for lunch after a week-end at USFS Cattle Camp. Must say the BLT was over the top good and big enough for two! Cole slaw was chopped, crunchy and perfectly dressed. My husband had the BLT with yummy hand cut fries. Do yourself a favor at stop by when in the area. Can’t wait for next visit to try something else, but then again the BLT is a winner.

Best on-the-road breakfast we have had in a long time! Housed in a historic Mercantile building this place oozes charm. Traditional bfast with variety of omelettes, scrambles, and a build-your-own option as well. I had a ½ order of The Volcano which came with one very fluffy, large, heavenly pancake, sausage patty, bacon, and a scrambled egg. My husband ordered the avocado, cheese and bacon scramble. That came with a side of sourdough toast and perfectly-cooked-with-a-crispy-top hash browns. Whew! We won’t need to eat until dinner! One thing I need to remember — BYOS, that is bring your own syrup! To sum it up, this quaint place was worth the 10 minutes off of the I-5 to get there.

The place is worth the visit for the experience. The café sits within a huge mercantile building. We went right after church so it was full. The owner was serving and kicking butt for the ratio of 1:25. The food was definitely tasty Americana without anything especially notable. The town is a cool experience. Since it was a company town, lumber was no concern. There are extraordinarily large buildings– some in use and some not– to give one an idea of life in the«heyday».

After my father(a 20+ year resident of McCloud) passed away recently, my family and I visited McCloud on three back-to-back trips to settle his affairs. During all three trips we stayed at least one night in the McCloud Mercantile Hotel(which is fantastic!), and on all three trips we ate at least a couple times at White Mountain Café. This is, without any hyperbole, the best«small town diner» I’ve ever experienced. Wonderful décor, fast and friendly staff, and amazing food. Again, not trying to hype, but my god they make the best Chicken Fried Steak breakfast I’ve ever had. The steak is tender, the sausage gravy is rich and spicy, the hashbrowns are crispy and golden, and the biscuits are piping hot and fluffy. It’s become a semi-serious joke in my family that I might keep making the ~560 mile round-trip drive to McCloud regularly, just to keep eating this damn breakfast. Really, it’s that good. If you’re in the Shasta area for any reason, do yourself a favor and grab breakfast here.

McCloud is a really cute town with small town food places! This was in their«downtown» with is really their biggest building. We ordered the special of the day which consisted french toast with fresh summer berries and an omelet with country potatoes. After a heated debate of country potatoes and hash browns, I got some coffee, but noticed that there was some lipstick still on my cut :( The waitress was pretty nice about it and got me a new cup. I don’t know if coffee is always free, but I wasn’t charged for coffee that meal. Omelet: They have defied all laws of gravity and chemistry and made THEFLUFFIEST omelet of all the breakfast places I’ve been. The berries on the french toast was perfect! The end of summer fruity goodness were a bit on the tart side, but they were seriously fresh. None of that weird syrupy fruit stuff. The décor is on point with the whole rustic feel. This place is adorable, don’t miss it!

Found this beautiful café while staying in McCloud. Looked the like only thing open in town and thank got it was because we went back every day we were in town. The Dinners are fabulous, service was splendid and location was perfect! The décor was absolutely classic, felt like we were in a modern version of a 1950’s diner. We will be back every time we are in town, you can count on that!

This is my favorite spot for breakfast or lunch in McCloud. The food is good, the ambience makes you feel like you are someplace special, and you need only visit a few times and Aubrey will have you welcomed like a local. I encourage everyone to try the specials as they usually have some good stuff to offer. The huevos rancheros seems to get a lot of attention, but the menu has lots of other goodies too. The shrimp salad is nicely prepared, the logger’s special for breakfast will definitely fill you up and nothing better than fish and chips on a nice rainy day. This is definitely the best place in McCloud for breakfast and lunch. And as an added bonus you can do a little shopping in the Mercantile when you are done with your meal since the two are right next door to each other.
