Last Saturday evening, our party of five celebrated a birthday plus Mothers Day. Wow — what a classy place to take those you love to a fine dinner. The service was top notch, the food was excellent, and the ambiance was romantic and fun. This is a very special place, one that all five of us would recommend for a date nite and/or celebration. Bring along some dancing shoes, for the Latin band outside on the patio was awesome as well.

Nice place for McAllen but over Unilocal rated in my opinion. Steak appears to be their specialty but my filet was just ok. Not a lot of taste and they over cooked another at my table. They have fish over cooked with butter to cover the so so quality of the fish. Wine list was ok but overpriced for their offerings and not current.

I have had this place bookmarked for about a year. Finally decided to check it out right before I leave the Valley for good(for now lol). So they have 2 entrances. The front faces 17th st n the back faces 19th st. My gps took us to the back entrance. Good thing it’s not uncommon at all for people to enter from the back cuz they have a giant banner with a big arrow pointing to the back entrance door. We opted for a table outside since it was super nice out. But the whole place is huge! With 2 spacious indoor areas and the outdoor one. I counted at least 3 bars. Didn’t go inside the 2nd indoor area, there’s probably a 4th bar too. For the appetizer we got the Ahi tuna. The tuna steak was thick, fresh, n definitely quality tuna, but it was missing a pairing component. Plus their wasabi was completely flat with no kick whatsoever. I’d give it a 2.5 out of 5 For entrees I got the Chilean Sea Bass with jumbo shrimps in a red curry sauce and seasonal veggies. The whole presentation was beautiful. Everything was very flavorful and delicious. My friend got the quails, he didn’t like it much. The quails«were fat and lazy tasting texture» according to him lol. He wanted more of a crunchy or crispy texture. The quails were too«soft» for his liking. Crazy lol. I thought it was very well seasoned and tender instead. Crème brûlée is my kryptonite. I shouldn’t have it but went for it anyway since I saw from one of the Unilocal pics that it’s one of the best crème brûlée the Unilocaler has had. It was good, but nothing too special about it. Overall it was a very pleasant experience. Definitely one of the high scale restaurants in the whole Valley. We felt underdressed as more people started showing up for dinner in fancy outfits. Perfect place for a date night or a good celebration. Make sure your pocket is well prepared for it tho ;)

Unilocal steered us to the right place yet again. I am a frequent business visitor to the Valley and always on the hunt for a great place to enjoy dinner with my team and with clients.

Was there the day it opened and have become a «regular“ever since… Great selection of wine and each meal(menu item) is well thought out to look spectacular on a plate. Everyone working there goes out of their way to make sure each visit is special for you. Funny, I used to think of the Patio as a «special event» restaurant because of their attention to detail, but the prices have made it a «ONCE-A-WEEK» get-a-way for my family… or a romantic escape when an anniversary is reached. I write a FOODIE article in a local magazine and the Patio has always been a 5-star experience for me.

The Patio absolutely lives up to how great the locals told me it was. we ordered some of all of the apps, as it was about 14 people. The ceviche was far better than the low review here. and frankly every one of us thoroughly enjoyed our selections. Sadly they were out of octopus but if i am in Mcallen again, I will be back.

Took my mom for lunch and I was very impressed! It’s a beautiful place with delicious food and great cocktails, not to mention excellent service! It was quite and intimate. We were able to enjoy a nice conversation without constant interruptions by waitstaff. This was great because I don’t see my mom very often.

Overall, Patio on Guerra’s was an ok place. The food was decent but I felt like it was under seasoned. For our starter, we ordered the tuna tartare, and it came with Ritz crackers which I was a little put off by. My kangaroo pretty much was not seasoned at all, but my husband’s filet mignon was pretty good. I didn’t get the décor of this place and the seating inside is a bit crowded.

A work associate and I tried this restaurant not knowing good places to eat in the area. It was fantastic, I real gem in McAllen. I had the pistachio salmon with a side of crème spinach. Both perfectly prepared and presented. I was very satisfied with the waiters recommendation of pinot by the glass. We both thought of several friends that would enjoy this restaurant.

My first time here was thanks to Unilocal and I can only remember getting the ceviche which my parents liked a lot(we also enjoyed the food but I can’t remember what it was). And then a month ago I was sent down to mcallen for work and brought my boss’s boss since I thought Patio would deliver both environment and food-wise. Sadly, even though service and environment was good, food was kind of meh. Not amazing at all — my boss was not impressed and I wasn’t impressed with my appetizer or my meal so I gave it 3 starts. It wasn’t bad but it’s too expensive to not have a decent meal.

Good atmosphere — not at a bad place for Mcallen. Food was average at best — reasons: — got the ceviche: plain and almost no flavor — had no condiments or real kick to it. Anyone can cut fish and mix it with pico de gallo. — the guacamole was decent but then again — anyone can mash an avocado and mix it with pico de gallo too. — I ordered the ribeye and it was simply awful — no taste, bland, and it seems it was already pre-made. — ordered a michelada — all I got was tomato juice on the side with my beer — very disappointing. My stake came with mash potato — it was cold and no flavor at all. Price point — too expensive for the food overall — we paid over $ 250 for 4 persons and one didn’t have a main course. Pleas save your money and go somewhere else — don’t know Mcallen pretty well but for $ 250 u can have a hell of a meal anywhere else.

Excellent choice for seafood or steak. The Mexican dishes are authentic, fresh, and flavorful. Appetizers and desserts are the best. All of the positive reviews are true. Worth the visit here.

This place holds great mystery for me. I decided to meet up with co-workers for dinner and The Patio was the restaurant of choice. I walked in and was rather impressed; the ambiance is nice and I’m sure that the actual patio is fantastic during the warmer months. I ordered the grilled pork chop with a ceasar salad and baked potato. When my main entrée arrived, I was in sheer awe at the size of the pork chop! And therein lies the mystery. I mean, I know they say that everything in Texas is bigger but my goodness… seriously, what kind of pig did that thing come from? I tackled that pork chop with must gusto(it was cooked to perfection and seasoned very well but I could only make it through half of it. The waitstaff, who was very attentive throughout the evening, kindly boxed up the remainder for me to take take home. So I definitely recommend that you head over to the Patio and if you figure out the mystery, please let me know!

Let me start by saying we live in LA and are truly spoiled. The quality and quantity of restaurants in SoCal is staggering. Now for The Patio — WOW!!! Three of us came here for lunch based on a Unilocal search. The food is fantastic. The Bloody Marys are sublime and the service is extremely friendly, inviting and professional. Don’t continue looking for your next great dining experience — you have found it with this gem of a restaurant.

One of my new favorite spots for lunch. The menu is on point – fish tacos, several salads and a killer club sandwich – and prices much milder compared to dinner. If you’re into raw fish, the tuna tartare is stellar. Big chunks of raw ahi, English cucumber slices, fresh avocado, fried ramen topping and a scrumptious mint vinaigrette. Even if you’ve been for dinner, it’s worth trying their new lunch.
