Such great food with fast service. For a little over 10 $ I got a chicken fajita plate. It came with rice, beans, fajita chicken with onion, and some guacamole on the side. I got corn tortillas and it came with 3. The amount of food it came with filled the three tortillas generously and still had a little to eat separately. The salsa bar is fantastic. I don’t know the name, but the green salsa(brightest green in the pictures) is to die for. If anyone has the name of it or tips on how to make it I would love to know as I am from out of town. Very very good.

Delicious food, but very pricy. The drive thru also takes FOREVER and you ALWAYS have to check your bag because every time I go, they always forget something, but their food is delicious!

Went through the drive thru and ordered 2 coffees 2breakfast tacos. The coffes were so full I couldn’t even add the sugar much less the creamer. Its common sense don’t fill up the cup completely sugar and creamer still have to be added. BTW I asked for extra tortillas and they didn’t add them in the bag! They also forgot the creamer.

let’s start with the positives. Parrilladas was very good. Hot food, tasty and pretty quick. Negatives, way overpriced. 2 people ate parrilladas, beef fajitas and had 1 soda and water=it was 35 bucks. I can’t believe in the valley people are so willing to pay so much. I won’t be back, this is fast food. Prices are too high for what you get

The 4 parrilladas were simply the BEST! It’s my favorite Mexican restaurant chain in South Texas. Everything is made with the highest quality ingredients. I’ll be back!

Mmmmmmmmmm, taaaaaaacos. Piraaaaaaatas. Every place has a different version of the Pirata(pirate) taco, but Taco Palenque’s are my favorite. Ever. Perfectly seasoned fajita meat, refried beans, and cheese atop two flour tortillas. Add some pico de gallo from the salsa bar and I’m. In. Heaven. There’s more than ample seating inside, service is pretty quick, even when they’re busy. You can also enjoy some fresh tortilla chips and the aforementioned salsa/condiment bar while you wait for your delicious tacos. I don’t recall ever having anything besides quesadillas(awesome, but GREASY) and piratas, so I can’t really attest to anything else, food wise. The drive through is convenient, though a little awkward, as dine-in customers have to walk through the line of cars to get into the restaurant. I almost want to drive to McAllen right now to get my pirata fix(yes, I know there’s one in New Braunfels now).

I’ve been in McAllen for about a month and I’ve had tacos palenque about 4 times and I have to say they are awesome. Salsas are great especially the green molcajete style salsa. I love the tacos caseros. Definetly will come back to try different varieties

Hi. This use to be sirloin stockade, fallowed by golden coral. Why do I come here? Force of habit. Quick fajita. Ya it’s expensive and quality shit way down over the years. Move on to the next one. Try Costa Mesa?

Sometimes it’s really busy and the waiters get flustered. I’ll also admit it’s not the cleanest or fanciest restaurant but it’s basically fast food so there’s not really a reason to complain about that. However, it is a bit pricey and whether you think the food is good really depends on what you order. Some of the food is more on the really oily side but I guess some people don’t mind that. I give Taco P credit for being open 24 hours though and their refried beans taste like legit homemade beans from an abuelita so that’s good. :)

This is overprices tex-mex food and it’s finest! $ 3.99 per taco is not worth it for fajita. All of their locations are also very dirty inside and staff members are usually grumpy. Their salsa bar is pretty spectacular!

I love this place! It’s not a typical fast food Mexican joint. Everything always tastes so fresh and delicious! I go to the one on Expy 83 in Mission. The staff is always very pleasant and friendly. I always get tacos al pastor– they’re amazing! I also love the parillada for 2! It’s a ton of food and it’s the bomb! It’s also very quick so it’s the perfect place to go before catching a movie at Tinseltown right next door.

This is a place my wife found a couple months back on a trip to the valley. She’s really big into trying places we haven’t been to before, and she read about this place in a local Spanish language newspaper. When we pulled up to the place, it was swarming with people. We were forced to park in a neighboring businesses’ parking lot as theirs was full. My wife commented that it must be good if they were so busy, and I agreed. I noticed on the way in the building didn’t look very well maintained, and it appeared to have been a re-purposed restaurant building built and then abandoned by another chain, but I couldn’t figure out which one. I needed to use the restroom, and l was pretty grossed out by the condition of the men’s room. Not only was there un-flushed toilet stench, the stinging bite of the accumulation of urine coating the floors near the urinals made me wonder for a minute if I hadn’t walked through a wormhole to another dimension where nasty restrooms were actually a desirable thing in an eating place. There was no hand soap and no paper towels, so cold water and my shirt tails were the best sanitation my hands were going to get. Seriously, the most neglected truck stop bathrooms aren’t this nasty. Then I joined my family in the herded line(cattle gates) to place our order. You have to read the menu on the wall above where the counter area is separated from the kitchen area. The menu descriptions were in small text and weren’t very descriptive. My wife(the Mexican) didn’t have much more idea than I did what a lot of the stuff was/meant, so we had to ask when we placed our orders. The prices were WAY high for this type of food, certainly for how nasty the small portion of the restaurant was that we had encountered, but my wife REALLY wanted to try it. So, we pay for our stuff and take our number and reciept, and go hunt for a table. As I said, this place was PACKED full like they must be giving food away. Looking around, it amazed me that the health department hasn’t shut the place down. There was all sorts of dropped food and trash on the floor, the trash receptacles were over full, and there were no napkins in the napkin dispensers. At the drink bar, there was no ice, and half of the drinks were out of syrup. The salsa bar where you get your stuff for chips and condiments looked like a tornado had landed there. I managed to get something to drink(not what I had hoped for) and some chips/salsa stuff and sat down. We had to wipe our own table clean with some napkins I got from going back to the order counter and asking. The food shows up, and it’s not what I expected, certainly didn’t live up to the price we paid in terms of quality or quantity. My wife liked it(hell, she picked it) and my son ate some of what we ordered for him. I tried not to gag on the smell of the overfilled trash receptacle right next to us, and ate as fast as I could to try to get out of there as fast as I could. The tacos were okay, the fideo soup was wierd, and the chips and salsa filled the voids. My wife kept insisting that this taste was«authentic.» We’ve traveled to Mexico many times, both to the valley/border area and well inland. I never realized that«authentic» meant overpaying to sit next to a neglected trash can, eating the same food you can buy from any taco vending truck for $ 2, after using a restroom where careful aim and employees hands being washed was considered optional. Will we be back? Absolutely not. Even my wife had to admit to me that she was really disappointed in the place, something she rarely does when we go somewhere she picks. It was like paying twice as much for Taco Cabana, and being served out of the dumpster and being seated in the back of a trash truck, but only after you walk through a river of urine to wash your hands with no soap and dry it on your own clothes. The glowing reviews of others makes me suspect they either work there, are related to the owners, eat there free, or use A LOT of drugs.. .. ..

After being away from the valley while studying in San Francisco, the first place I had to come back and visit as soon as I got off the plane was Taco Palenque. I missed the mariachi music, the endless salsas, and yummy tacos! I can’t express how good and yummy this is when you’re belligerent. This is the belligerent hot spot. Like if it were a Wifi Hot Spot it be a 5 bar spot. The crowd isn;t always pleasant but thats ok, you’re usually shwasty when you are here. Don’t get me wrong, their breakfast tacos are great too! Even when you’re not drunk. Oh and did I mention endless tortilla chips? Definitely a fun place to go to with friends! 5 stars amigos!

Fajitas, Quesadillas, Botanas, Piratas, Tacos, Salsas, you can find them all in abundance at Taco Palenque. I love to order the Fajita Super Quesadilla which is a huuuuugee(seriously, can be split if you aren’t super hungry) quesadilla that comes with guacamole & refried beans on the side. Their fajitas are delicious and tacos piled high with meat(make sure to ask for extra tortillas on the side). Tortillas are always fresh and hand grilled on the comal. With a fully loaded salsa/condiment bar, you can’t go wrong with any of the choices. They’ve got jicama, cucumbers, cabbage, pico de gallo and every level of spiciness and flavor a salsa can have(with my personal favorite being the avocado salsa). Our family that comes in from across the country demands that Taco P be their first stop after arriving at the airport. Whether it be 2am or 2pm, you’ll find this place filled with people having good conversation and even better Mexican food. If you want good, fast & delicious Mexican food in the RGV, make sure to stop by Taco Palenque at any hour of the day!

Drove through Taco Palenque today — have to get my fill of mexican food before i leave el valle — and was pleasantly surprised. The service was incredibly fast for a really busy after christmas crowd. We ordered the fajita quesadilla, the carne guisada taco and the taco pirata. Everything was wonderful! The quesadilla was a fat flour tortilla with an abundance of cheese and fajita, my pirata was fajita, beans and cheese and tasted delicious and the carne guisada had a double tortilla… and rightfully so. It was so full that one taco became two filled with meat, potatoes, and olives(what?) in a rich gravy. Stop by or go inside to take advantage of their full condiment bar. The prices, services and delicious flavors of Mexican food demand it.
