I have been to this restaurant many times and I love it. I brought my younger brother here and we got awesome service. Our waiter was very knowlegable. The only thing I have to say is the seasonal chicken dish was not all that great. It had all our favorite food, but the seasoning was a no go. It tasted like catfish, but on a chicken. The dish I ordered(Meatloaf) is always good never ceases to amaze me.

Great meal and great service. We had no wait for our dinner meal. Three of us came for 630 pm meal. Perfect timing and great service by all courteous staff. Food was very good as well. I love their turnip greens as a side dish. All our meals were excellent. I had the chicken with bbq sauce. Delicious. We will come again. Entire meal was less than $ 30 for three of us which is a great way to feed the family. Well priced. Server gave us the perfect amount of attention for servicing our fine meal and experience.

I feel silly every time I write a review for a chain, because if you’ve been to one, then you’ve pretty much been to them all. Chains are standard like that. But considering that this chain doesn’t have many branches in The Valley, it seems worthy of a review. I came here with my mom and sister, who had never experienced the chain. We ordered dinner items. It’s regular good America comfort food. We all loved our dishes. The server did an excellent job throughout. It’s a great place to bring your family, especially for breakfast or brunch(which I highly recommend). Also, feel free to poke around their merchandise while you wait. I bought two of my favorite glass necklaces at a Cracker Barrel.

I’ve been there twice over the past two weeks and both times were very good. The servers were friendly and the service was quick. I ordered the turkey dinner the last time I visited the restaurant and it came out in under seven minutes. I took one star off of the review because the food was good, but not great.

Food is always good but service is always slow. I was visiting my family last week and we decided to go for a late lunch. Their was not many people in the restaurant it was an off peak time. The hostess sat us right away but it took 20 min for a waiter to acknowledge that we were their. By the time they asked us what we wanted to drink we wanted to just order as well so we would not have to wait another 20 min for them to bring us drinks and then order. They brought our drinks and then later our food. The waitress Never asked us if we wanted refills. I had to flag her down to get refills for our table. She brought the drinks and never returned. She came back abt 30 min later with the bill. The food is good but the service is horrible. The experience was frustrating and it felt like I was having to chase down the waitress to help our table. That’s not a pleasant feeling. It feels very unwelcoming as if we are a bother to her to serve us. We did not complain and we’re pleasant to the staff but this experience makes me not want to return or take my family their again. Sorry cracker barrell of Mcallen you have lost our business.

Went here Sunday evening, it was somewhat busy, but the hostess and our waitress made up for the wait. Both ladies were great and made us feel welcomed even though they were running around alot. We had the biscuits and gravy and pancakes. All was very good. It did appear as if some other guests were upset at something, but our experience here has been nothing but great. We will be back.

Food great as always, worst service ever. I now remember why I haven’t been back in almost 2 years. I can’t believe this place is still open. The waitress we got only brought us coffee. We had to ask other wait staff and management for our food and the dish boy for our ticket. What a horrible waitress!!! Oh and a other waitress spilled gravy all over a gentleman. He was so calm. I would’ve demanded that they nit charge me a dime. I will not be going back again. No matter how good the food is.

Service was okay… Very slow! And it wasn’t that busy. Food was okay. French tiast was not that good. Eggs were cooked all the way and I ordered a side of fruit and for the price it was not worth it. It seriously had two pieces of pineapple and 1 strawberry with 10 blueberry. Total rip off! Coffee was okay kinda weak for me. Overall the place is was okay I would prefer IHOP next time.

On a recent business trip, I was glad to see the Cracker Barrel sign! Usually very dependable and consistent. What a mistake. I had told an associate to meet met there and should never have done that. Ham that came out resembled deli ham, the sweet potato was the smallest and most decrepit I had ever seen. My Meat Loaf was cold as was my vegetables. Never saw the server again after she brought us our meals. As a business traveler, do not go to this Cracker Barrel. Bad experience.

Best pancakes in the world! My wife and I go when we are craving pancakes. The food quality is ok and the portions are always big. Great atmosphere for a nice sit down meal.

Surprisingly, the wait wasn’t long at all. The orders came out fine, except we had to keep asking for things, like more silverware. After a while, our waitress never came back. The food was fresh. The sweet tea was not good at all, it was not sweet and was too watery. This place deserves an OK rating.

I’ll cut to the chase: Pot roast – I ordered it once because I was in the mood for something homey like my parents would make on Sundays. Huge mistake! It was the worst excuse for pot roast I can remember eating. The meat was the color of faded cedar fencing, the ‘gravy’ was a glop made with too much cornstarch and black pepper, and there were no chunks of potato, carrot and onion on the side. I ate only a few bites to be polite but really wanted to just send it back to the kitchen. It was that bad. Chicken & dumplings – Again, too much cornstarch to thicken the sauce, thick gummy dumplings and not much in the way of seasoning. And too much chicken for my taste. Baby carrots – Too sweet! Green beans – Too oily! These are obviously made with canned green beans with only a meager attempt at cooking them southern-style. Blueberry pancakes – good with plenty of berries. Pecan pancakes – pretty good but would be better if the pecans were toasted a bit. House salad – very good. Fried fish(not the catfish) – so-so, not great. Macaroni & cheese – rather bland, not as good as Luby’s. Peach tea – tastes too much of artificial sweetener, not enough of peaches. Raspberry tea – full of bright red syrup, not much tea. Ice water – Now that’s something they do great! TV – None, thankfully. Service is usually good. Ask for Pat, she’s a sweetheart. The host likes to promote his favorite waiters/waitresses but just ask for Pat. She’ll get your order right and is pleasant. And the country store part? Interesting to look at once in a while but it’s so crowded at the entrance, it makes it hard to get to the restaurant. Sometimes I really don’t want a candy dish that plays«The Eyes of Texas.»

The food here is ok. Its almost like a Denny’s. Nothing really stood out here except for the baked Hash Brown and sausage. The hash browns are baked with cheddar cheese and maybe some cream, its heavy. The sausage had a nice kick and was flavorful. Service is slow.

Yes, we had Cracker Barrel for dinner. My mom has been wanting to try it out since they opened in McAllen, so we decided to take the plunge. Never again. Hey, it’s a Cracker Barrel, complete with the memorabilia on the walls and the«old country store» feel. Service was great. The general store was pretty much unremarkable. The epic fail came with the food itself. My raspberry iced tea was mostly raspberry syrup and very little tea. Lately, I’ve been reminiscing about my grandma’s chicken and dumplings, so I opted for those at Cracker Barrel. They came with three sides, so I chose mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and green beans(they were out of baby carrots or something). Maybe I had my hopes set too high, but the chicken and dumplings weren’t even close to what I’d expected/desired. It was more like incredibly thick noodles, way too much sauce, and a couple pieces of chicken breast buried beneath it all. The mashed potatoes were over peppered and the mac and cheese was just kind of meh. And I consider myself and mac and cheese enthusiast. My mom ordered a breakfast platter consisting of eggs, bacon, and pancakes. Turns out the pancakes were deep fried, rendering them unedible for her. It’s generally pretty difficult to mess up eggs and bacon, so it seems that may have been the only redeemable part of either of our meals. Lets just say that Reggie White German Shepherd has rarely been so well fed.
