I used to visit this casual Salvadoran restaurant when I was living in Bell long, long ago(this place has been around forever). I still visit this place when I’m in town once in a while(for take-out only). The yummy pupusas are bomb. And they are the real deal because I once purchased three pupusas revueltas for a Salvadoran colleague and friend of mine, after having closed on a real estate transaction together. He said the pupusas were awesome, and he should know because he was born and raised in El Salvador! The bistec encebollado(well seasoned steak w/tons of onions) is double yum! I come from a long line of carnivores in my family, so this one was right up my alley! I’ve tried just about everything on their menu. However, I once ordered the mojarra frita(whole fried tilapia) and it smelled like an OLDFOOT… I was almost hesitant to taste the fish, but when I finally tried a piece it was NOT very fresh, just muddy and old tasting. Maybe it was a bad day for fish, but I would suggest that you stay away from the seafood here!!! Needless to say, I did not eat the rest of the fish after one bite(the reason for my 3 star rating). I will let this one slide because the pupusas and bistec encebollado are so yummy for my tummy. I would have gone back to the restaurant to complain about the fish, but everyone who is familar with this area will understand that the traffic jams and parking issues are just HORRENDOUS here!!! Just the thought of going back made me want to put up with the smelly fish after all. I simply won’t order it again! Damn, I can definitely fry a MUCHBETTER whole tilapia on my own!!! Not to mention one that is absolutely FRESH!

Oh my! These pupusas are so rich, moist, flavor full and best of all — authentic. They take me back to my homeland ELSALVADOR. Just close your eyes and take a bite, you will be home.
